• Chapter 1: Something Forbidden

    Ivy

Songs played in the background as Mason twirled me around to a fast beat song. Finally the song ended, a new one played slower. I looked around me as everyone started to slow dance. I felt Mason take my hands, I turned to face him and saw the dazzling smile on his face. He placed my hands behind his neck then his arms lowered to my waist. I smiled at him, nothing could ruin this moment. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Piper staring at us, anger and hatred in her eyes. But even she couldn’t ruin this perfect moment. Mason’s face came closer to mine, closer, closer. I felt Mason’s lips on mine, I felt my head spin, and I felt the world around me disappear into nothing. Nothing else existed only Mason and I. We pulled away from each other, looking into each other’s eyes it wasn’t till then I realized my barriers should have been screaming by now.

    Mason

Staring into Ivy’s eyes Mason realized his barriers were still strong, as he pondered about this he saw a small flicker of confusion cross Ivy’s smiling face, but it disappeared just as quickly. Mason noticed the song changed, now faster. He didn’t want to let go of Ivy, instead his arms tightened around her waist bringing her closer. Some people might have stared at them as they stood in the middle of the dance floor, swaying to the beat of a different drum then the rest but Mason didn’t care. He remembered the feeling he had when their lips touched fireworks seemed to sound in his head. He stared carefully into Ivy’s beautiful soft chocolate brown eyes. He pressed his lips against hers again softly. The same feeling took over again and now everyone stared. He could hear Piper’s loud cry of outrage, he sensed Ivy feel it to but he didn’t let her pull away. Mason thought this something would be forbidden that was when he thought Ivy was just human.

I heard Piper’s cry of outrage, but Mason held me tight keeping our lips pressed tightly together. When Mason pulled away I could see everyone staring at us, I saw Tammy holding two thumbs up while she danced with Brian. The next song ended and the DJ went to take a break, while the rest of the 10th graders went to the snack table. I didn’t want to let go, but I settled for hand holding down to the snack table. After a few more minutes the DJ was back and it was like we didn’t miss a beat.
