• As the sun began to set, June panicked. She had spent almost the entire day reading a book she had gotten at the library. The house was barely clean, and dinner was not cooked. She shuddered at the though of how angry her father would be when he got home. She quickly hid the book under her blanket and began to clean the house and prepare dinner. June heard the car drive up to the house, yet the house was not completely clean yet. As she vacuumed, she accidently backed up into a table. The light blue vase fell, samshing into a thousand pieces. The front door bob wiggled. June's heart almost stopped, there wasn't enough time to clean up all the pieces. She ran into her room and grabbed her book, looking for a place to hide. She heard the door open, her father yell, the door slam closed...June couldn't move, it was as if her legs had turned into stone. Footsteps stomped their way to her bedroom. Willing herself to move, June flew to her bedroom door, slamming it close and barracading it with anything she could move in front of itShe ran to the blanket and pillow on the left side of her room, grabbed her faded pink bunny doll and ran across to the other side. She curled up in a ball in the corner near the window, crying and shivering.
"JUNE!!" Jason, June's father, yelled smashing the door open. Everything June had blocked the door with shift, letting the door open just enough for Jason to squeeze through. "Come here you miserable little brat!"
"Go away!" June screamed at the top her lungs. She stood up, shivering even more. "I hate you! I want mommy to come back! I hate you!" As soon as she said it, she wished she hadn't, it had only made her father angrier. June dashed for the winow, her only escape. But, as she opened it and tired to crawl out, her father ran across the room, pulling her back in. The neighbors had heard June's cries, and called the police.
