I’m not like any gorgon you’ve ever seen
I’m very monochrome it seems
We monochromatic gorgons aren’t accepted
We are outcasts in our gorgonic society
We aren’t colorful and not respected
The others treat us so nasty
It’s like art in a way
Colorful art is seen as great
Monochrome is seen with hate
Maybe someday they’ll get a clue
That we are works of art too…

I find it absolutely amazing, but something just doesn't seem right, and I can't place my finger on what it is.

There's clearly scales on the tail too... I don't understand what your problem is with this. Armor even works well too, as they'd need to wear some armor to prevent them from the negativity they face from the other Gorgons, be it figuratively or literally.
IMO this is joint best of your groups entry along with the Cyclops.

- the black head piece feels kind of like scales but the rest feels like armor of sorts and armor can be changed so that doesn't go with the discriminatory feel in the description

- I disagree about the flow on the avatar Legend, I think the way the shapes are cluttered, broken up and choppy help to convey the "gorgon" aspect of it really well. Almost feels like scales to me.
