Funds go to more than 150 cutting-edge research projects across the country. They support young cancer patients and their family through Alex's Lemonade Stand Travel Fund, the Childhood Cancer Symposium, and other resources made available to families nationwide.

Hopefully diagnosed before the age of 4, the young child will experience many treatments, exams and therapies in an effort to save their life. These exams and treatments may be weekly, every three or six weeks for long periods of time. This means that baby and family must travel to the hospital over and over again. Each time after waiting in the waiting room for hours, the baby is placed under anesthesia to have eye exams and therapies. This unknown is terrifying for babies. They cry and scream while going under. In an effort to ease their anxiety, pediatric massage and infant massage has been used both hands-on for these young patients, but also in teaching the parents to take this care into their own hands.

Autism is a neurobiological disorder. This disorder is more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined. Children and adults with autism have difficulty communicating and relating to other people. Many of us recognize autism from the repetitive behavioral traits or routines. This disorder can be diagnosed by the age of three and is first seen by parents. It is important that parents and family members not dismiss signs and symptoms as early intervention and treatment is critical to developing communication, social and cognitive skills.

Registration for the 2013-2014 school year for St. Peter's United Methodist Church - Early Childhood Development Center starts January 9, 2013 and ends January 23, 2013. Registration forms will be available in the St. Peter's ECDC Office. We offer classes that are developmentally and socially appropriate for children ages 15 months to 5 years. For more information call the St. Peter's ECDC Office at 281-492-0623 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

100 percent of the money sponsors donate goes directly to Texas Children's Hospital. There is an interface for your sponsors to make credit card or check card donations, as well as a way for you to register gifts that you personally collect in your local area.

Go to church or lunch together, make a call or send a card, make a special gift or find your own way to say thanks for the gift of the grandparents in your child's life and for your own grandparents.

So remember, "Can't" is one of the most disempowering words that you can keep in your thoughts and vocabulary. Start today, by erasing this word from your life, and see your performance soar!
