The brainchild of music industry professional, Jay Harren, Downtime is an organization that connects artists with worthy causes that they can support while on or off the road...or in their downtime. This rapidly growing movement has garnered attention nationwide, with bands such as Winter Park's own Anberlin signing on to support causes like Habitat for Humanity.
The inaugural Journey 4 A Cure 5k/1k is at Summer Lake Neighborhood on September 24, 2011. The event starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at noon. This will be an event to increase awareness of pediatric cancer and help raise money to find a cure. You can visit their website especially for this event by clicking here.
JH: We have a lot in store including some custom merch items that will benefit the causes our artists are involved with. We also plan on moving into other channels of entertainment such as film and tv, sports and others---we're thinking big!
Govberg Jewelers contributed raffle items, as well. First prize was a gorgeous diamond bracelet. The 2nd prize, a custom-designed Alex's butterfly diamond pendant, sparkled just as bright. And, believe it or not, raffle tickets for a brand new Volvo remain on sale until June 11, 2011. Bling upon bling heightened the event, but guests never lost sight of the real reason they came.

Nope, old Granddad would never have covered Rick Derringer's 1974 hit "Rock And Roll, Hoochie Koo," as did Lambert. He would have run screaming from Church and would barely recognize the two-man, one-woman format of Lady A.
So dear children, grow up. Please. Grow up knowing life is a gift. Some children don't have it for long, so take your gift seriously and make the most of it.
