Exactly, I've been questing the bloodstone gem for such a long time, and finally got it, selling the items I don't need but really want, and deciding if it's worth it, such a waste if zOMG is gone.
zOMG is the ideally the main reason why most users get onto Gaia, and I am included, so if zOMG is gone then... no more Gaia emo

Plus, the new game that they're putting much efforts on, looks like it's just going to be one of those games on FB, useless

I can't really pass judgement on the new game yet.
It looks to be beautifully drawn, and I should imagine that being done by the same people who have brought us so much wonderful stuff here, it'll probably be a quality product.

The trouble is, as I've said before, it's not zOMG!

zOMG! is, in my experience anyways, unique.

The new game looks like a lot of other games from what I've seen so far, and, for me at least, fails to capture zOMG!'s quirky charm.

Only zOMG!, is zOMG!
Are they going to open DMS to the general public or continue milking the users?

Hopefully it's on Gaia, and of course, not all Gaia users has FB or wants to make a FB to play the replacement game. Fingers crossed for now

I'm sure it will be on FB, but I think it will be available here as well.

The thing is, if I have to access it through an FB portal, there's no chance I will.

I created an FB account in orer to play MOGA last year ( I know, but I was suffering a temporary lack of judgement wink ), and found that all the things people had said about FB were true, and that it was massively intrusive and put all kinds of crap on my P.C., that were next to impossible to remove.

I'll never go back to FB, and will never use an app that requires that I have any connection to it whatsoever.

Facebook to be is like a virus in its-self. Just recently there were some teenagers who got their pictures hacked and placed on a child porn website.

That is a good question.

Will the Exec, as would seem to be their bent over the last year or so, try to extract every last bit of money from us they possibly can, or, will they, as a sop to our hurt feelings, open the last new content zOMG! will ever see, to the general public?

On the one hand, they would stand to lose any revenues they were getting from the sale of Gems, but on the other hand, they would certainly seem to find themselves enjoying additonal revenues from Powerups.

If I had to guess, I'd say that they will open it up.
Not to assuage our hurt feelings, but because the announcement that zOMG! is dead is likely to have a negative impact on Gem sales, and they will want to wring every last drop of revenue potential they can from zOMG!'s undead corpse before finally pulling the plug.

This is what you would call the calm before the storm! Too many emotions at once just now.
We are certain there will be a lot of pissed of players heading this way once the shock passes.

I know deep down this is the end of zomg, all the hope inside me died when I read the meat transcripts. :c

What really killed FB for me was when I was trying to do some maintenance on my P.C. a while back, and watched as cookies and processes that had been started by FB, simply recreated themselves every time I tried to delete tham.

If that's not the behaviour of a virus, what is?

I have to agree.
Even though [JK] tried to put a brave face on the whole proceeding, his resignation seemed obvious to me.

I know I could be reading things into his posts that aren't there, but I really think zOMG! is done, and that [JK] knows it and is as hurt, and disappointed as many of us are.

The funny thing is, in hindsight, zOMG!'s current situation is painfully obvious.

zOMG! has been getting smaller and smaller since I joined a little over two years ago.

I joined at the tail end of 09, just as the zOMG! Christmas Event was drawing to an end.
Then in February, we got the Sweetheart Ring for Valentine's Day, and later, Easter in zOMG! saw not only an egg hunt, but had all of VG painted in soft pastel! heart
Then when Halloween rolled around, we had a fully haunted Barton Town on top of the Fluff Hunt, and Jack spawns.

Little did I know as I was having the most amazing times in zOMG! ever, that these were it's halcyon days, and never to be repeated.
Christmas never came to zOMG! in 2010, and Easter 2011 was weeks late, and arrived without the re-colour of VG.
Halloween too was scaled back, and Christmas failed to materialize once more.

The writing on the wall should have been obvious, but the arrival of DMS seemed to provide a reasonable excuse for the other Events failing to reach previous levels, or even arrive, and with the doubtless increased revenues it had to be generating, it was easy to delude one's self that zOMG!'s future was secure.

That's what makes this sudden blast of reality so painful.
Up until reading Unity's Topic, I had believed that zOMG! had gotten over the hump, and that it would be vibrant and growing for years to come.

More from Shiny's Topic...
Soul Crash, etc...

Heads off to Games Page to investigate....

**EDIT**
Looks like Soul Crash is NOT the New Game.
I've read elsewhere that it's an existing product, produced by a Korean company.

Back to speculating about the "High Fantasy" game that was teased during some recent Con's.

After reading that....
In Gaia...
Just there isn't a word how I feel beside.... disappointed. And that's not even strong enough to describe how I feel right now.

Well, a quick perusal around the Games Page and Soul Crash Forum, sure seems to imply that this is the replacement for zOMG!
As I read through the FAQ, I could see a lot of similarities in the mechanics.

It's also strictly FB, which means I won't be playing.

**EDIT** see above....Soul Crash is apparently not the "New Game".
Phew! sweatdrop

Profitable Lunatic

So they won't be doing anymore updates to zOMG, but the game will still be there. So basically it will be like before when you just farmed EB over and over and over until some new content came out. So now we will just farm DMS and all the other areas until they deem zOMG worthy of getting another update. So big deal.

❥✖[I am very upset about this as well. I admit, I freaked my husband a little by saying "What? No...NO!" randomly. He knows how much I care about this game. I even dreampt of one day being a part of it's development. If zOMG goes, then it will be the end of gaming for me. I don't do anything other than Gaia. Then, when zOMG is gone, there won't be anything to do except forums. Just like before zOMG. I really do believe it would be a horribly poor choice to get rid of zOMG. Yet, even in this shroud of darkness I see as the end of my beloved game, I still have hope. Why after releasing new content would you abandon everything? It's still to early to solidify any data (pertaining to user increase or whatever) and there are people out there waiting for Dead Man's Shadow to be free. There are still people buying Gemstones and Amulets. The community effort is still underway! Also, zOMG holds a pretty big part of Gaia storyline that I think is important to the whole site. That may just be me, but just saying. You know?
I ask that No one gives up hope, even when it seems bleak. It seems like so much s**t has been piled in our faces, but that shouldn't make us give up. Even if we don't win, no one can say we didn't try.]❥✖
