Storyline
In 1843, four Sisters of the Holy Cross came from Le Mans, France, to share in the apostolate of education with the priests and brothers of the Congregation of Holy Cross, who had been sent by the bishop of Vincennes to open a high school in northern Indiana. In 1855 they opened up their high school across from Notre Dame.
Notre Dame High School was founded by a group of Catholic missionary priests and brothers from France, members of the Congregation of Holy Cross. The land where they founded the school was donated to them by the Bishop of Vincennes, Indiana. A large part of their early mission was caring for and evangelizing the local Potawatomi tribes. Upon arrival on the lakeshore in the cold of winter, they dedicated their new school and all their endeavors to the Blessed Virgin Mary under the name Notre Dame du Lac, which is French for Our Lady of the Lake.
How did this rivalry start? Well, now that's the fun part. It started because those priest had originally brought the Sisters of the Holy Cross to cook and clean and do all that fun stuff. And these nuns were not quite happy about that and started their school to prove that not only could they open a high school but they could do it better, way better, than the priests. And the priests were astounded that the nuns would be so petty and not do what they wanted and so they started to fight back as well. Harmless Pranks. Homecoming being a huge huge part of this war.
Now to the wondrous modern day. Well there was a group of girls who decided it was time to do something quite dastardly. They went through the usual things that they had done year after year after year. Then someone suggested parking the deans car on the roof of the school. You know, simple. Get a crane. Move the Car. Drop Car. Be done by the night being all over. Well one girl that was in charge of the crane...well let's say she isn't very coordinated. So she missed the roof and instead the car collided through and ended up in the hallway. So most of the building was useless.
Of course, it wasn't all her fault. Seemed that a few boys had tried to "stop" the prank by pranking the girls. They had made it so that the gears didn't work at all. However, nobody in the group being mechanics...it didn't work. Instead the Crane couldn't go up and down, it could only go side to side. Thus the car went aside and crashed into that building.
Saint Marys, feeling awful bad about this (and not knowing about those pesky boys), in good faith told them that they would pay for the repairs and while the repairs were being done that they'd allow boys into their school. Just till it was done. But can the students really get along after being so amped for war? We'll just have to hope so.
