✦ People-Pleaser: While Penelope wants to see like a bad-a** b***h who doesn't give a ******** what other people think, that's not really the case. She doesn't like making people upset, and will help them with whatever they need, usually while grumbling and complaining.
✦ Family-Oriented: Penelope has a strong connection to her "family." She would do anything for them, and is only living life for herself because of Roisin's dying wishes.
✦ Free-spirited: Being a type of fae, Penelope is free spirited, doing whatever she whims to do. Only her loyalty to her family is a stronger impulse.
✦ Loyal: Penelope's loyalty isn't exclusive to her family. If you gain the banshee's trust, she'll be loyal to you until she's wailing for your death.

↬ Biography

✦ Penelope came into being 627 years ago, fully formed. She had taken the form of a young daughter of the O'Neill family, who had just committed suicide. She wailed for the first 24 hours after her "birth," unsure of what else to do. When she finished with her mourning song, she collapsed. The next time she awoke, it was years later, and she began to lament for the patriarch of the family, who had just died.

This process continued for the first two hundred or so years of Penelope's life, waking only to warn the family of an upcoming death and mourning for the departed before sleeping yet again. One year, however, became especially bad. For weeks, it felt like Penelope had done nothing but wail. That was when Oisin O'Neill went searching for her. 12 years old, the boy had lost both his parents, his grandfather, his older sister, and two younger siblings to an illness that was plaguing the family. He had tracked her down to do something -anything- to stop the waling, but was shocked at her resemblance to his older sister. So instead, he asked her to stay with him, and not to disappear again.

Dedicated to her family, Penelope had told him yes. She was taken to the family home, and given the name of Penelope. Oisin learned to make use of her death sense, hiring the best doctors and changing plans last minute to prevent any more family deaths. But death is always inevitable, and Penelope held Oisin's hand and sang a song for him as he died at 63.

Over the following centuries, the different heads of the O'Neill family held different views towards her. Some viewed her as a good omen, and let her stay in the home, or nearby. Others feared her ability to detect death and commanded that she stay away and sleep except when she couldn't help it. As the centuries passed, times changed, and the family broke apart, off to do other things, spreading far and wide. Only on household member remained, the 50 year old widow, Roisin. Penelope appeared again to wail for her husband's death, and the woman was enchanted by her. She had heard the legend, of course, but had never seen the O'Neill family banshee.

Roisin took Penelope in as a daughter, and not as a spirit to help detect death. Due to the many years Penelope spent sleeping, her knowledge of the world was patchy at best. Roisin took the time to educate her, about the family history, about the politics and history of the world, how to drive cars and ride bikes. She encouraged Penelope to be her own person, and focus on herself and her own likes.

But like all the people before her, Roisin's time came to an end. Penelope had felt it creeping up, but did her best to ignore it, until she was wailing uncontrollably. Roisin comforted her, telling her that she was ready to go, but wanted Penelope to do one last thing: be herself. Don't worry about the family for a decade, for twenty years, for a century after that. Penelope promised, holding Roisin's hand and singing to her as she passed.

Penelope called the human authorities to make sure Roisin's body would be found, jumped on her motorcycle, and left the family lands for the first time since she had come into being. She wandered the lands for a long time, trying to find a place to call her own. That was when she came to the manor, which promised her a place to stay. Penelope has been staying there for a month, while trying to figure out what she wanted to do: keep traveling, or find the remaining members of her family?
