Did it ever get tired spending an entire day at the Ranch?

Luka Abbadelli certainly had moments where it got exhausting and wished that he could quit early, but he could honestly say that no, he never got tired spending an entire day at the Ranch. Though it no longer belonged to his family, he still treated it as if it were their heirloom. All of the animals in the Ranch needed to be cared by someone, somehow. With his grandparents' declining health, especially his grandfather's, someone needed to donate some of their good will to the animals of the Ranch. Perhaps he first took it under him because he felt obliged to his grandparents for helping him through everything, but the more time he spent here, the more he found himself enjoying his work. He was surprised by how quickly the animals seemed to like him, and they were easier to deal with than people! Picking up manure and shipping goods wasn't always fun, but at least animals didn't always cry and demand for attention like human babies. Overall, he found a lot to love working at the ranch, even if he was often alone while working.

The first day of Fall brought a new chill in the air, something that Luka didn't take kindly to. His frail body couldn't really withstand the cold when it began to arrive, and he always found himself sick at least once during the Fall and Winter seasons.

Even so, running outside at least made the male feel warmer. He was alongside his dog, who was busy herding the animals together. Well okay, not really his dog, but he still saw him as such! The Great Pyrenees was keeping the cows close to one another, so they wouldn't wander away and get lost in the forests, or get attacked by any of the creatures out there . . . Luka shook his head. This wasn't the time for him to think about things like that. He was here, as well as the dog named Wesley, and of course, Josephine. The three of them seemed to be making themselves as a pretty effective team, bringing all of the grazing animals together. It was vital for Luka to bring the animals out to graze for at least an hour when the weather permitted. The animals needed their fresh air, and who knows how often they could get it with the cold weather? Or maybe just any weather in general . . . It was always unpredictable.

Judging from the Sun's position in the sky, Luka figured it was probably about time for him to herd some of the animals back to their barns. He looked at the cows, sheep and goats grazing outside. He placed his fingers over his teeth, whistling for his horse to come. "Josephine!" He smiled as she trotted up to him. He hopped on the horse with no hesitation, gathering the cows from the group to lure them back to the barn. After closing the door, he proceeded to repeat the pattern with the sheep and goats.

He quickly hopped off his horse, scanning the ranch for any lost animal. With the job done, he then walked in the barns to look at their water tubs. He wasn't so concerned with the food [even if he did need to give them more feed before leaving the Ranch for the day], but some of the animals needed cleaner water. He grabbed one of the animal tubs--one of the larger ones, he had to add--as he walked outside the barn for the faucet. He dumped the dirty water before he turned it on, making sure it was cold before he allowed the water to fill the tub.

Yep, it was just another busy day at the Ranch for him.

tab tab Outside of the clinic, walking to the general store tab tab No one yet tab tab Just occupied with her own thoughts tab tab Here's Keiko! Feel free to talk to her if you want.

Though today was the beginning of Fall, it felt like every other day to Keiko Wakatsuki. Of course, it was colder than a typical day that she was used to, but that would change over time. Eventually she'd adjust to the chill of Fall, and then this would be no problem for her. She was always a pretty healthy person; changes in seasons tended to not affect her too much. Maybe that was simply another reason why she was working as a secretary for the town's clinic--even if someone who visited the clinic sick, she could withstand whatever germs they could spread. Though she'd suggest them to go home if that was the case, she knew that the nurse and doctor would still have to do their jobs, and in the end she'd have no choice but to listen to the coughing and sneezing of all the poor souls that would walk in the building.

Of course, this was just her thinking ahead to the future. For the current moment in time, Keiko was getting out of the clinic and prepared to close it for the day. The last few papers she needed to organize for the day were placed neatly back into their own files, and Keiko readjusted her glasses as she looked around at the clinic. Everything seemed to be s**c and spam--there was nothing she could see that she needed to organize at the last minute, just how she liked it! She reached in her coat pocket to feel the key to the clinic, and she made a general checklist to herself to check off before she left this place for good. She had her keys, she had her empty cup of tea, she had some of her pens and notebooks . . . Yep, she was done for the day. She sat up from her chair, brushing off any dust that might have gathered on her for the day as she headed for the door. She flipped all of the light switches off before she walked out of the room, closing the door behind her. Her eyes gazed up at the sky, a little surprised that it was still bright out. Then again, it was only four o'clock--Keiko was sure that they still had another hour before it would start to set. This was, of course, assuming that she was correct, though Keiko didn't know why on earth she would be wrong.

She still stood outside of the clinic, wondering what she should do now. She could visit the Shrine, to see if Antheia would be okay if she made dinner already, but maybe Antheia wouldn't want Keiko to see her before her work was done. It was the beginning of the month--did the shrine have to do some big preparation to welcome the new season or something? Her assumption said yes, but she supposed she'd truly find out once Antheia was done for the day. So now with that option out of the way, all she could ask herself was "what now?". Her stare was directed to her empty cup of tea in her hands--maybe she could go to the cafe and ask for a refill? She could pay whatever she had, of course! She wouldn't be impolite enough to ask for something without paying. But then again, that hyperactive waitress might be there again . . . Keiko didn't feel like dealing with all of that energy during the last few hours of the day. She could wait until six o'clock for the tavern to open, or maybe just walk there to have a drink of something. Whatever she wanted, it still sounded like a great idea.

Now she knew what she wanted to do, but she still had to wait for the place to open first! So now what to do for the meanwhile? The string of confusion only continued . . . "Maybe it would just be smarter to go to the general store . . ." she muttered to herself, as she started to walk to the direction of the store. She could pick up some other items while she was there, too; it seemed to be a smart alternative for her.

It was now the final hour before the shop closed, and Salisbury Aldsworth simply kept himself busy by managing some of the arranged flowers.Oh sure, the shop was always as clean as he could possibly make it, but there was always room for cleaner! Working with plants certainly wasn't a clean task, though the flowers were certainly gorgeous to look at. Specks of dirt could always be found throughout the shop, no matter how clean the dark-haired male tried to make it. It was something that annoyed him to the core; every little speck on the ground made his eye twitch. It was almost like they were little bacteria that were breeding to conspire against him--as soon as he cleaned some of the dirt, it would always find a way to rear its ugly head back in his shop. Oh well, he supposed such would happen while organizing the flowers in the shop. When all was said and done, he knew that he'd organize the shop once again before he'd close it for the day.

Aside from the cleaning that he'd always partake in, not much really happened. Oh sure, the cold was always a bitter welcome for someone who worked with the flowers, but that was simply what the weather would do. Besides, this was the season for pansies and snapdragons--he made a mental note to start a brand-new garden once he walked back to his house. There'd be no point in growing summer flowers if the climate wasn't warm enough for summer, and he needed to continue deadheading flowers if he hoped for them to bloom beautifully in time for spring . . . So aside from preparations for the new season, it was safe to say that he wasn't doing much. Many flowers still remained in the store, from the classical roses to the unique magnolias, prepared for whatever occasion that a person may need them for. The male had a soft spot for the delphiniums that were close to one of the many windows of the shop--the infinite possibilities the plant represented seemed to resonate the most with him. Though he thought of himself as the skeptic, he was always the type of person to read deeper into a flower's meaning than most would. He felt like this since he was in high school, and it had only gotten stronger since then. With the opening of the shop, his business grew and others were able to see what he had to offer.

For now, though, the shop was very quiet. It wasn't like this bothered the male--quite the opposite, really. After being in the store for so long, assisting costumer after customer, some quiet was appreciated. He needed to focus on getting the flowers ready for the next day before he left for the day . . . Adding some fall bouquets to the store would be a bonus. He was positive he could keep some of the summer flowers in the store for a couple more days before he'd have to retire them for the next summer. He soon pried himself away from the flowers, counting the inventory the store possessed.
"Amaranthus, Orchid, Iris, Chrysanthemum . . ." He muttered to himself, noting what he needed to get. Did he really need everything? Probably not, but a good florist should be prepared for anything! He simply continued to count the flowers, figuring that when the bell rang, he'd turn his attention to whoever may arrive.

"One hot chocolate with extra mini marshmallows and whip cream." Two pale colored hands reached up and over the counter to grasp the outstretched cup of hot chocolate, gingerly taking it away from the barista that had made it. Having already paid, Gwen took the hot chocolate and left the cafe. It was already four pm and she needed something to help keep her awake for the last leg of keeping the library open. As of late, Gwen hasn't been sleeping well; she blames her bed but figures it is probably just her staying awake caring for the books she has at home that she is planning to put in the library soon. Upon opening the door to the cafe, Gwen felt the sting of the cool air on her bare legs and sneezed. She should have worn leggings, she wasn't used to the cool weather of the meadows even though she had been there for about four years now. At least she wasn't shivering like she did her first two falls in the meadows.

Tugging her hat down lower in the back, Gwen recovered from her sneeze and continued walking while warming her hands. The walk to Ruby district would be smooth, work was still going on for adults, school just got out though so the brunette would lift her cup above her head to avoid spilling on herself if any of the children ran into her. Humming to herself the librarian looked up at the partly sunny sky. The glow around the clouds made her think of a book she had been reading recently. Smiling, Gwen lifted the hot chocolate to her lips and took a small sip. When she passed by a few adults, Gwen ducked her head and tugged her cap down over her eyes some. She was great around children but when it came to people around her age she shied away in fear they might say something harsh to her. Gwen wasn't the kind of person to handle harsh words well, they usually brought her straight to tears. She could vividly remember everything she went through in her school years. Memories of being bullied flooded her mind and clouded her vision with tears. Without looking up, Gwen bumped into a door. Unconsciously she lifted her hand to where the handle to the library should be but found a different handle instead. Looking up she found she had bumped into the fire station door. Gulping, Gwen quickly retreated from the fire stations door front and made for the library across the street. Glancing behind her she looked at the fire station door one last time before entering the library.

Sanctuary. That best describes the library and how safe Gwen feels inside the domain of books. Here she was safe to be herself amongst the friends sh can make by entering a book. Sighing softly the female moved away from the entrance door after changing the sign from "Be back soon" to "Open." On her way to her desk, Gwen lifted her hand to take a sip of her hot chocolate when she realized her cup wasn't in her hands. Looking around frantically Gwen couldn't find it anywhere. She ran back to the library door and opened it quickly, her eyes instantly shooting over to the fire station door. To her horror she found her hot chocolate spilled all over the wall, her cup was laying abandoned next to the black lid. Quickly, Gwen adjusted the sign on the library to be back soon and crossed the street again when no cars were around. She looked at the mess and sniffled. This was not happening to her. Gulping, Gwen picked up the cup and lid and threw them away in a nearby trash can before standing before the puddle she had made. She needed to go inside and ask them if she could clean up her mess... and Apologize...

Praying no one was inside so she could just grab her cleaning supplies and clean up the mess then leave a not of apology, Gwen entered the fire station. Biting her lip she walked further inside the building gripping the hem of her denim shorts. "Um.. Hello? Is anyone here? Hello?" Gwen stopped playing with her shorts and went to hold onto the single strand of hair that had a golden ribbon braided into it. The ribbon was her safety blanket in the form of a ribbon. Slowly she calmed down, still hoping nobody would show up....

                                                                          ❞❚ LOCATION: Cafe > Library > Fire stationxx❞❚ MOOD: Calm | Shy | Upsetxx❞❚ OUTFIT: Coolxx❞❚ COMPANY: Arronxx❞❚ VOICE: Gwenxx❞❚ THEME: I feel Pretty Unpretty

LISETTE stared silently at the bright golden eyes reflecting back at her; the only noise emitting between them a soft purring as her friend sat contently on the branch in front of her. Today was her day off and naturally, she and her dear friend Nina had wandered into the forest to play. Of course, Nina was a cat - but that had never stopped them from enjoying one another's company before. The two had been inseparable ever since Lisette had first adopted her four years prior, back when she had first arrived in the village and had begun working at the animal clinic as the official animal caretaker; otherwise known as the person who cleaned the cages and got to play with the animals there pretty much for her entire shift. She loved working there, although it did have some downsides - such as walking home covered in dog hair. But yet, Lisette never complained or thought ill of her job, always waking up excited for another day to begin.

Dainty hands reaching up, the curved girl pulled herself up to the next branch rather easily, not bothering to adjust her dress or pay any extra attention to it. She had recently bought the deep blue gown, but Lisette's urges to go out and climb trees within the woods won rather easily over the small thought of maybe keeping this one dress in tact for once. It had cost her quite a bit and she had been planning to show it off to all of her friends today, but yet she had gotten completely sidetracked when she had gotten outside that morning and felt the cool breeze upon her cheek. It was finally Fall! One of the best times of the year to go climbing... although, she said that about pretty much every season, seeing how she did it almost year round.

                                                        "Hey, that's not fair..."

Lisette pouted and tilted her head upwards as her feline friend used Lisette's shoulder to get up to a higher branch. The long-haired cat could only reply by daintily licking it's paw, and letting out a soft mewl before continuing on it's trek upwards. Letting out a small puff of air, the black haired girl followed after her until they finally reached the tallest point of the tree - giving them the perfect view of the rest of the forest beneath them. Looking down, Lisette sat comfortably on the thick branch beneath her bottom, letting out a soft 'aha!' as she spotted some of the buildings from the village in the distance. The scenery before the two of them was relaxing, yet Lisette's interest could never be held for too long.

"I suppose we have to climb down now, huh?"

She spoke as she turned and grinned down at Nina. Her voice was rather high pitched for a twenty (yet one month shy of twenty-one) year old, similar to that a young teenage girl with the soft pitch and excited tone she often spoke in. Even her laugh was in a high yet sweet tone, mimicking her childish personality perfectly. The cat seemed to protest these words, although, climbing onto Lisette's shoulders once more and letting out another mewl, this time a bit longer than before.

"You want me to carry you down, again? Why do you keep climbing up here with me if you're so afraid of heights?"

Lisette huffed, puffing out her cheeks as she looked to the cat - who only meowed once more in response, as if expecting the black haired girl to understand what she was saying. Sighing, Lisette simply nodded, beginning her trek carefully down the tree with Nina perched on her shoulder - digging her claws into Lisette's skin when she moved too quickly or at an odd angle. Once her feet had finally reached the dirt ground beneath them, Nina hopped off her owner's shoulder and began trotting off back towards the village without a second look. The cat could be a bit of a spoiler princess, yet Lisette had been the one to spoil her so it really wasn't something for her to complain about.

Continuing towards the village, the pair passed the hot springs and florists as they dived deeper into the city - before completely passing it all in favor of visiting the Ranch in the Amethyst District. It didn't take long for the wide fields came into view, and a bounce entered Lisette's step as she began to look for her favorite rancher's assistant, Luka. He was younger than her by about five years, but that had certainly not stopped a friendship from blossoming between them. If there was anyone she spoiled just as much as Nina, it would be Luka - and Josephine, his horse. It wasn't very hard to find the taller brunette, and Lisette quickly bounced up behind him to give him a wide hug.

"Luka, Luka! Look at my pretty new dress I bought!~"

She giggled, although the dress had gotten a bit stained with mud and sap from her earlier adventures in the Emerald Forest that morning.

It was odd for him to have such a lax day in Houseki Meadows. Well, that wasn't entirely true--Houseki Meadows was a pretty peaceful community from what he saw, save for an occasional beast that'd attack the place. Allison Oswald still preferred to be here than in the city though, especially after what happened all of those years ago. No one really knew, but it was better for him to disappear anyway. The longer anyone spent around him, the more likely they were to discover the secret. He didn't want anyone to find that, especially not his own family . . . it was hard enough for him to think about what they would do in the face of truth, but again, he didn't think he needed to trouble himself with that anyway.

He spent his day like he did any other day--all starting from when he first woke up from 5.A.M. Most people would look at him as if he were crazy, but he simply thought of it as a different routine. He was already twenty-eight and felt like as if he were too old. Waking up early and jogging was one such way to keep him active. Not only did it do wonders for his self-confidence, it also kept him ready for whenever he needed to be. With beasts occasionally attacking the city, he needed to be prepared to help others through the danger in whatever ways possible. If buildings caught fire, he needed to douse them as soon as he could. Thankfully most of the structures were still intact, but he couldn't ignore the danger of them coming down at any moment. Even if the fire station were to crumble someday, he wouldn't stop acting as the town's firefighter. He was sure that helping others like that was the only thing he found true passion for anyway--and was the only thing he found himself competent at. Sure he loved to do things like read books and looking at artifacts in the museum, but he didn't think he could ever make a living as a librarian or a curator for the museum. It wasn't any offense to those occupations, but he often found himself standing in one place for too long, and monotony never caught the man's interest. It was another reason why the man moved to Houseki Meadows so long ago.

So where was he now? Normally the male wouldn't be at the Diamond District, but he figured he needed to walk through it anyway. Even though he much preferred the other districts, he wasn't going to ignore the most popular district in the meadows. He walked through it, taking notes of the locations in the district . . . and grabbing himself a cappucino from the cafe. Not that he really needed a pick-me-up or anything, he was just keeping himself busy. He had been at the fire station all day, and he needed a reason to get out of it for a while. Maybe it wasn't too good for his occupation, but Al wasn't that hard to find anyway. How difficult can it be to find a six-foot-five musclebound monster? Regardless of that, he soon walked out of the cafe after saying his thanks to the employees. He walked through the Diamond District, and eventually he took enough steps to return to the Ruby District.

He took sips of drink as he walked back to the fire station, blinking when he found someone there. Just when he thought luck would be on his side!
"How long have you been waiting?" He asked as he walked to the woman, who he soon recognized as Gwen, the town's librarian. She was clearly nervous, and Allison was curious for the reason. Even when he helped people in the town, he normally didn't find them as a crying mess . . . unless if they lost something. Was there truly an emergency that he missed? No cup of cappuccino would have been worth ditching emergencies for--just what kind of firefighter was he? His cup still remained in his hands as he asked the woman in front of him, "Is there something I can help you with?"

Snap. The small girl sat on a large boulder looking intently at a cluster of different shaded flowers. She bit her inner lip softly and pulled her camera away from her face to change a few of the setting and lighting options. Finding some that she was satisfied with, she brought it back up to her face and snapped a few more pictures continuously before pulling her camera away to examine her work. Being an artist of sorts, Ky was meticulous when it came to her work. Her work being photography. She just loved when everything worked out perfectly, which sadly didn't happen fairly often. Which, was why she spent most of her days snapping photos rather visiting others or well...eating and sleeping. Ky got up from her seat and wiped off the back of her bulky coat both hopping down and scanning through some of the photos she'd taken throughout the day. Most were fairly decent in her eyes.

Ky was a photographer of nature. However, she did take pictures of people if asked, she just found something so interesting, beautiful, and calming about nature. People just tended to be too picky and loud. Not something she liked to deal with. But, a gig was a gig. That was one way she got paid. That and people buying or requesting she take photos of something they wanted to capture and frame. Walking along looking at her camera, Ky stopped in her tracks catching a glimpse at the sky. Turning, the girl looked around the area and saw a nearby tree with the perfect limb for her to perch on. Sauntering over to it, she made sure her camera was safely around her neck and looked up. Jumping, she reached for a lower branch, so she could pull herself up. Failing, she tried again a few more times before letting out a short breath exhausted.

Leaning over slightly, she sighed and frowned turning back towards the sky and simply finding a good position that she would be able to take her picture. Snapping a few photos of the sky, she managed a small smile seeing the oranges and pinks starting to saturate it. "The sky is something truly amazing. Some may explain it with science. But, I like to think of it as simply magical." With a light yawn, Ky rubbed her eyes feeling them a bit tired. She was constantly squinting through a small lens all day. It was no surprise she had tired eyes by the end of the day. Taking another quick look through her photos, she stopped at the picture of the cluster of flowers. Hmm...She smirked in thought. Maybe Sal would like this photo. Or, he could at least at least tell her what these flowers were so she could give them a proper title. She wasn't one to just name her picture willy nilly. She wanted them to be accurate.

Finding her way back into town, she glanced around keeping her head low though it wasn't hard considering she was one of the smallest girls in the village. Hopefully he hadn't closed shop just yet. Stopping at the shop, she peeked in and saw the man placing and going through flowers and bouquets as he always had. She loved taking pictures of his arrangements. It was truly and art, she would never know how to figure out what flower should do where. Reaching for the door, she stopped debating whether asking him would be odd or strange. She didn't want to bother him while he was working either. But, then again, this was his job...sort of. Slipping into the store, the small bell rang announcing her arrival. Standing in the doorway, Ky held up her camera for him to see it. "I'm taken some photos of a cluster of flowers I found. I wanted to see if you would like it for your shop or if you could tell me what these flowers are." Ky was a bit straight forward. She didn't really do well with small talk. She usually just listened to people talk while she stood there quietly. "If you're busy, I understand, I was just curious," she spoke softly.

Luka always stared off into space when he was at the Ranch. It didn't matter how long he had been in this district--and it had been a while for him--he never got tired with staring at the scenery. There was so much that the town offered, and for him, this was especially apparent when he was at the Amethyst District. Maybe it was just because the Ranch and the Farm were here, but he liked the fact that this place still had so much to offer and yet was away from the Diamond District. It was like they knew that everyone could support the community, regardless of where they came from. It sounded really cheesy, yes, but Luka found truth in that, too. Luka would have never believed this a couple years ago, but his continued work with the animals was contributing greatly to the town. A lot of people seemed to enjoy staring at the animals of the Ranch, and he loved being with them as well. Where would they be now without that? He wasn't sure, but now he didn't want to think about it.

He gazed down at the faucet and turned it off. The tub was close to full--it would be enough to last some of them a couple days. Of course, he wasn't done with the tub work, but he was making slow progress with it. A couple hours still remained for the Ranch, so he wasn't too worried about time yet. His grandparents never rushed him about anything, and Luka was always pretty lax about helping the animals. Sometimes he would be minutes, even hours, late to return home, but it was just him making sure that he was doing a job well done. It wasn't like he had the rancher to order him around--as far as he knew, he was his own boss. Until he heard word of whenever the person would arrive, it was just him at the ranch. Well, him and a person who appeared from behind him. Luka almost jumped at the sudden attack, until he recognized the voice of the person behind him.
"Hey, Lisette," A smile crossed his face as he turned to face her. He always saw the girl as an older sister figure, though she was an adult and he wasn't even seventeen. He was never bothered by it, though--Lisette didn't seem to mind his company, so he wouldn't worry about the quirks of their friendship, too. He knew that a lot of people in the town were nice people, and he wasn't afraid of a lot of them, if any of them.

Lisette began to twirl in her dress, and the teen only blinked as he looked at it. A dress was just a dress, wasn't it? Luka never paid too much attention to all the fashion stuff in town, though maybe that was because he spent the majority of his time in the Amethyst District. Whenever he was in any of the districts, it was typically in the Diamond District to pick up items at the General Store, or to travel to any of the business that required his items, like wool for the tailor's or milk and cheese for the cafe. Furthermore, was it really a new dress? All dresses looked the same to him--save for color and material--well, maybe they're not the same, but . . . Luka didn't want to be rude, so he simply nodded,
"Looks like you had fun in the forest earlier. It's a little dirty, you know."

Luka picked up the tub full of water, and looked to Lisette. It was pretty much him telling her that he was getting ready to move back into the barns, and she was always welcomed to join him. He'd just be running back and forth a couple times to refill all the tubs of water for the animals. She could see some of the animals if she joined him, and he was sure that none of them would mind seeing her. He wasn't strong enough to move all the tubs on his own, as much as he hated to admit it, and this gave him more to do. So to delay himself in this way didn't bother him too much. What would Lisette think, though? "It still looks pretty nice, though."

"How long have you been waiting?" Squeaking, Gwen jumped into the air and backed away from the voice that had been behind her before turning around to find Allison Oswald standing there. "Is there something I can help you with?" Gwen's heart might as well have belonged to a rabbit it was pounding a million miles an hour, her prayer must have gone answered as someone had showed up which meant Gwen couldn't just anonymously clean up her mess. And as it happened, Allison was someone Gwen made a point to avoid; He looked exactly like one of the people back home who had tortured her for a good portion of her high school life. Being reminded of that boy brought tears to her eyes and before she knew it she was doing her darnedest not to cry but her sniffling wasn't helping. Within seconds Gwen was crying, her tears flowing down her face like mini waterfalls. "I-I-I-I a-accidentally spi-spilled m-my h-h-h-hot c-chocolate on y-your front s-step. P-p-please let m-me cl-clean it u-up." Gwen had titled her head down and was rubbing her eyes furiously while she spoke, she could only hope that Allison didn't get angry or yelled.

When she was alone later tonight, the brunette would be able to clearly remember her torturers, especially the one that looked like Allison. He was the one who had spread a nasty rumor about Gwen which flowed through the school she attended like a wildfire in a dry as paper forest. He had said that Gwen was selling her body to college students in order to get help with her studies and had the college students do her homework for her. Needless to say that rumor was thought to be true and everyone was so angry at Gwen for acting all high and mighty when she wasn't even doing her work. Her homework was often the target of the student body's hate, being ripped up and torn or even burned before reaching the teacher. Gwen was quick however to re-do all her problems on her homework and turn it in to her teacher when it was due. The rumor was put to rest a month later when everyone who had been watching her closely watched and continued to see her working to fix damaged homework. They also saw her flinch and run away from any contact with boys who were older which helped her case but the one who had started the rumor hadn't gotten anything but a glare or two from other nerds like Gwen. It wasn't long before new rumors started popping up from the same source.

Just remembering that dark haired male standing above Gwen when she was shoved or pushed made her cry more and her shoulders shook with the effort to contain it all. Gaining a small amount of courage, Gwen lifted her head and clasped her hands together. "P-please." She was begging Allison practically. Gwen knew you shouldn't fear a firefighter, they were there for your protection but Gwen just couldn't help but fear him... and everyone. If she didn't change then she would surely find herself without any friends in this new place. With this thought in mind, Gwen's tears slowly stopped flowing hard and turned into a dribble. Sniffling, Gwen looked at her shoes, she was pathetic wasn't she? A grown woman still afraid she'll be bullied. "I'm t-terribly s-s-sorry. So p-please l-let me c-clean it up."

                                                                          ooc; sorry it's short >A<

So maybe he had too many orchids and too few magnolias. He reminded himself of the demand for each flower as he went through it--not a lot of people liked the asters, maybe because they were too similar to daisies, but who could forget about the roses? Salisbury placed his hands in some of the arrangements at times, to see if there was garbage or any litter stuck in the vases where the flowers would. Nothing peeved the man more than finding garbage right in the flower arrangements! It was already bothersome to find the garbage on the floor in the shops, but in the flowers' places? He might as well take a plastic bag and suffocate the morons who did such a thing anyway. Apparently finding a garbage can was too much for some of the people that walked in the store, even though the garbage can was right next to the entrance/exit. Thankfully he didn't have too much of a problem here . . . most of the people were polite and civilized enough. He could talk to most of them without getting too much of a headache, too, so that was nice, too. Still though, his mind turned to the events that happened three seasons ago--about his confrontation with Abbadelli. Yes, the rancher's assistant--the one whose dog ran loose and rampaged through his plants. The male himself said that the dog was only property of the ranch and not actually his, but Salisbury didn’t care for technicalities. It was still a part of the male’s property that ran loose and destroyed the garden he had been working for!

Oh sure, Sal was able to rebuild the garden with little to no problems, but he was still peeved at all of his effort that was wasted. The male even had the gall to call him an “old man” . . .

He didn't need to revisit the past now! The bell to the shop rang, alerting the male to the rather short female at the door. She was none other than the town's photographer--Kyleigh Lichfield. The girl had a knack of taking breathtaking photos, though he supposed that was all part of the job. Regardless, he still found a lot to admire for the girl's work even if she wasn't one that said much. Even now she was rather blunt and to-the-point, simply walking up to the male and showing him what she captured this time. She didn't seem to be the type who liked to talk to others much, instead choosing to be in the background and observing others. He supposed that it was a good attitude for her to possess for her occupation, and honestly, Sal was not the type of person who took offense to bluntness, especially when he was a person that was prone to acting that way on occasion. Salisbury's eyes widened when he really looked at the photo--there were still flowers like that in bloom? Well, yes, fall just started, but he was mostly surprised that the flowers didn't begin to droop or show signs of death. The girl began to request to him about telling her what the flowers were, or possibly having them in his shop. The more he thought about it, he supposed that he could make special arrangements for them, if they became popular enough. If he recalled correctly, the photographer's birthday was this season, as was his. It wouldn't be such a bad idea for him to keep some different types of flowers around.

Before he did that, though, he responded to her last statement:
"It's no problem at all, Miss Lichfield," He said. Once again he thought about what he could do for the plants at his place before he spoke: "You have the daisies and roses, and a couple dahlias blooming there as well. I'm not the herbalist, but I'm also noticing some parsley growing too," He said to her. He took glances of his shop, noting all that he kept in the store. "Daisies and roses are common, and I'm bound to keep at least some of them in this shop. For the dahlias, there are some of them in the front, but I don't believe I have any of that particular color. However, they aren't very hard to grow, and if I can find some of its seeds, it would take about a week to germinate." He spoke. "I could have these in my shop for several days after, if you're not bothered by the wait."

Of course, there was also a possibility of taking the flowers from where they were and growing them at his greenhouse. He was always reluctant on doing such a thing, though, especially if it meant moving plants from their natural habitat. When early spring came around, he knew that they would bloom yet again, and honestly he wasn't sure how much room he had left in his place. His greenhouse kept many different flowers--for the purpose of growing different types of plants when the seasons started changing. But he typically didn't remove them from there unless there was a special request for them, and there was a high chance that said plants wouldn't survive out in the different climate for too long, anyway. Still though, it was a possible option.

It was the first day of fall, finally, and Vivian couldn't be happier. Though summer had just ended, the temperature was already beginning to drop, little by little. With a stack of books in her arms, Vivian walked into the schoolyard with a light smile on her face. The temperature was perfect this time of year; it was so comfortable and it wasn't too hot anymore. It meant that winter was just around the corner, too, which was her favorite time of the year. She couldn't help but let out a little bit of an excited giggle when she thought of all the festivals that were coming up this season, especially the hot pot festival! Clutching her books tightly against herself, Vivian began wandering around the empty schoolyard to find a place to read.

A few people still lingered around the school, but it was mostly quiet. She soon found a vacant bench outside the school and sat on it, setting her books beside her as she watched the last couple students leave the building. Leaning back on the bench, Vivian gazed up at the sky; the cool fall breeze gently carried the clouds across the sky. The first day of fall couldn't be any more perfect, Vivian thought to herself. With a content smile on her face, the girl picked one of the books from the pile and began reading.

It didn't take long at all until the girl was in a world of her own, the noise of the Diamond District completely drowned out. It wasn't until the cool autumn breeze got to her when she finally lifted up her head. A hot chocolate seemed nice about now, she thought to herself as she stuffed her pile of books into her backpack and began to make her way towards Cafe. She ordered herself a hot chocolate, in the largest size they would offer in a paper cup. She pulled her sleeves over her hands as she held the beverage, and after paying she began making her way back to the Ruby District, humming happily to herself as she walked, taking occasional sips of her favorite drink as she made her way towards the library.

Kyleigh entered further hearing him accept her offer to decipher the flowers she'd taken her photos of. It was rare to find such beautiful flowers during the fall season. That was one reason she had wanted to take a picture of them. To capture that moment she might have never had again. Looking around the store, She couldn't help but admire what Sal had done. The flower arrangements were handled with so much care, and all of them were so delicately and perfectly placed. It's as if he had had a vision of them being that way, maybe a picture, and he had some how been able to duplicate it simply by framing it in his mind. That was something truly admirable. However, Ky was a girl of few words, so often her body language is what read through to people. Leaning away from a few of his arrangements, she nodded and brought the camera over to him so he could see.

"Thank you. Though it isn't entirely necessary, I do prefer knowing a bit about my test subjects before just snapping their photo," she said simply. That was another thing Ky loved about photography. For her, it was a learning experience. It didn't have to be, she just made it that way. She felt it meant so much more if she knew more about the habitat or object she was capturing with her lens. Looking to him as he spoke, she nodded. All flowers she'd heard of before, but she probably wouldn't know them until she really saw them, which was why she wanted to ask the expert. Talking about the seeds of one of the flowers, she pursed her lips slightly in thought. His birthday was this season. The only reason she really knew that was because her birthday was in the fall season as well. Though they weren't extremely close, it could be a nice repayment if she could find him his seeds.

She shook her head. "Please take your time. I am in no hurry. I'm sure you know that I'm always busying myself, so I have little time to be bored." With the end of her statement, the small girl leaned against the side of the shop door with a soft yawn. She really needed some coffee. Or maybe some tea. Pulling herself off the wall, she looked around the shop and then to Sal. "Sal, I'm not sure, but it is near closing time correct? If you would like, I was going to stop by the cafe before I go out to take a few shots tonight." Ky loved taking pictures at night. Sadly, that left her little time to really sleep, but hey, four hours was enough right? Looking back to Sal for an answer, she continue. "You don't have to of course. I just thought I would invite you. Oh. And, I was curious. What day exactly is your birthday this season?" She had to know how much time she had to get those seeds.

                                                                  l Sailor Centaurus l

Did Allison stare at her wrong or something? The girl slowly became a crying mess--or maybe it truly was an emergency. He bit his tongue as the girl spoke. It was a little hard to understand her because of how shaky she was, and how much she stammered. However, from what he could gather, it seemed the girl spilled on the fire station's front step. It was only then that Allison looked at the front step--indeed, there was a liquid that drenched the front step of the building. It didn't seem to be anything more than coffee--kinda what the male was holding in his hands. The male looked at the spilled mess--was that really all the girl was worried about? Maybe that was just the icing on the cake of everything that went wrong. He stood there, listening to her stammering some more while wondering if she would speak about anything else. Maybe she'd mention about something going wrong at the library, or she encountered something while walking around town--

                                          "I'm t-terribly s-s-sorry. So p-please l-let me c-clean it up."

No, it seemed to be all she was talking about. It wasn't that Allison was even mad at her--he was mostly confused. He certainly heard of crying spilled milk, but he never thought that idiom would ever be taken literally, or ever applied to coffee. He continued to stare at the coffee--admittedly, it smelled nice, but the mess wasn't going to clean itself. Also, he wasn't sure if he'd be too excited to have permanent coffee stains on the fire station--though things like that are bound to happen eventually anyway. Time passes on, and all the buildings will start to show age, whether it's by time or by human hands. Even so, he guessed that he should try to make the building as clean as he can. Things like time didn't make for a good excuse--Al knew this more than a lot of people. He snapped himself back to the reality, and only spoke to the girl as her sobs became more quiet. The woman seemed like she needed time to compose herself, and he didn't want to try to talk to anyone when they were in distress. It wasn't a good idea to talk to anyone when they showed too much emotion--they might not be able to think things through. Their minds were only occupied with what was happening, and while it was understandable for them to act so flustered, he couldn't really help anyone if they were too incoherent for him. "I'll have to get in the building, first. I left the building locked for a coffee break, so I can get the cleaning materials for you."

Allison stood by for a few moments, allowing the girl to sidestep out of the way. Holding his coffee cup with one hand, he dug his other hand into his pocket and pulled out a small key for the fire station. He soon inserted the key in the hole and twisted it, allowing the door to open. He gave a small glance to the girl as he walked inside, looking inside the vast building. Though the fire station didn't seem to really need tools like mops or rags, he was sure that a lot of people needed cleaning items in case things like that were to happen. Though food wasn't something that was commonly found in the fire station, it was pretty obvious that messes were bound to happen no matter where they went. And of course, people couldn't function in their daily lives without something in their stomachs. Things were bound to happen sooner or later, so it was probably a good thing that everyone could prepare themselves for anything, no matter how trivial it may be. He placed his coffee on a table, and kept an eye on it as he walked to the location of a mop and a bucket. Well, finding it was certainly easier than he thought it would be. He walked over to the tools, holding them with both of his hands before he walked back outside to the shy librarian.

He tried his best to walk around the mess, but he still managed to get some coffee on his shoes and pants. Nonetheless, it wouldn't bother him too much. The way he saw it, this mess wasn't anything permanent--it wouldn't be too hard to clean it up, whether he helped her with it or not.
"Here you are," He spoke as he presented the items to her. "I could help you clean the mess too, if you like. It's not a big deal."

( T I T U S )It was finally the afternoon! While most people enjoyed the afternoon - usually it meant the end of their day shifts - it was nearing the time that TJ had to be at work. And boy was he not feeling work tonight. Maybe it was the fact that his birthday was the next day or maybe it was the fact that he was, for some reason, feeling very... anxious. And he usually didn't feel like that unless he figured something bad was going to happen. And boy did he pray that nothing bad was going to happen. His poor little heart wouldn't be able to take it. Not again, anyway.

From the moment the sun had arrived, TJ had been awake. It was probably a bad thing too, seeing as how he hadn't gone to bed the night before until the wee hours of the night. But a soon as the sun peeked through his damned window, he was awake. And, as much as he wished he could go back to bed, he was cursed with being awake. There was no way TJ was going back to bed. So he spent most of his morning making coffee and drinking it, trying to wake himself up more. Now he wasn't a big coffee drinker, but he really only drank it on occasions or when he needed a pick-me-up. And that seemed to be the case. Mostly because TJ found himself staring at the calender on his wall and just... thinking back to his family.

It had been years since he last saw them. Would they even remember that his birthday was so soon? No, probably not. They didn't celebrate it after his brothers came into the world. But then his mind started to drift off as he wondered what his parents thought when he ran away. Did they care? Did they even try to find him? No, why would they? TJ was an accident in their eyes. A mistake that came and they were stuck with, too afraid to get rid of. A thing that was there to interrupt the new family that his parents decided to build. Did they... even care that their first born was gone? Did they even care that Titus Jansky wasn't around anymore...?

TJ found himself to be too angry to care. He hated thinking about his parents! It always made him angrier than he needed to be. So he went off and took a long, hot shower and got dressed for the day. By the time he was ready, though, it was the afternoon - 4 p.m. to be specific - and he already smoked half a pack of cigarettes. He was addicted. Stupid things. When he was for sure ready, TJ took one last look at the calender, before he opened his front door and escaped into the real world.

The first day of fall always brought a sort of peace to him whenever he was upset. The cool breeze and the scent of fall was wonderful. Really, it just warmed his heart. But what really warmed his heart was the fact that it was the afternoon and he knew exactly what he was going to do to kill some time before he had to head off towards the tavern. It was simple, really. He'd spend his day like he normally would with the one person he truly liked to be around. Or the one person he actually knew liked him enough to keep him around; Salisbury Aldsworth. TJ always knew that some people questioned their so-called "friendship." If the two were placed in a room together, someone would think that the two would be at each other's throats instead of just talking and Salisbury ignoring every single pick-up line and flirtatious gesture that TJ throws at him. Their friendship was more than just bumming cigarettes from each other and Salisbury pretending to listen to TJ complain about things that were stupid in the first place.

Salisbury was a saint and TJ was anything but that.

The arrival at the florist told TJ that it wasn't going to be just him and Salisbury today. At least not at first. But he didn't care. Sometimes an audience was a good thing, right? So, as dramatically as he could, he pushed open the doors and caught wind of what the girl had asked. "Fall thirteenth, my dear, is the day of Salisbury's birthday!" TJ stated with a proud smile on his face. Sometimes he was glad that he came in at the weirdest times. TJ then began his journey inside the flower shop. He strode around, taking in all the beautiful flowers and debating which one to grab so he could work his... usual magic, per say.

His hand stretched out to a beautiful red rose and picked it up. He examined it in his fingers and honestly it was probably one of the most beautiful he'd ever seen. Salisbury was amazing with his flowers. Damn that silly flower boy. With a turn on his feel, TJ continued his way towards his friend. He arrived and looked at the boy, a usual stupid grin on his face, as he held out the flower and stated, "Oh sorry, I was just showing this flower how beautiful you are."

                                            There was a long pause.

                                            A really long pause.

Until TJ's smile broke and he let out a laugh. "O-oh my god, Sal, the look on your face! Oh man, that was priceless! You were all like 'What in the actual hell are you saying, TJ? Are you an imbecile?' And the answer to that is I thought of that last night and figured I should use it on you before it's too late~!" His laugh turned soft and he shifted his position so he was next to Salisbury. His arm had snaked it's way around his friend's waist and he couldn't help but grin.

Honestly how did Salisbury put up with him at all?
