I've thought about it but my name is who I am. Even if I change my name, I'm not a different person.
My name is nice anyway. I would prefer a different first name than anything because mine is so common but eh.
Try just telling people you changed your name to see how you like being called the new name. It would be like a free trial that leads up to a paid service.

I did... And while I'm happy I did, I would NEVER do it again. It took a ridiculous amount of time, and my medical records still haven't been updated.
My reasons might seem rude to some people... But in my family there's this weird tradition of taking your mother's maiden name and her father's name as middle names... So I had 6 names, and over 45 characters.
xd It was AWFUL. I've had a few family members stop talking to me, but whatever.
I'm in the same predicament, The receptionists at the hospital I got to told me that they couldn't change my name on their records without my new insurance card with my new name. I told my provider a couple weeks back, and, still nothing from them.
Also, you're better off without them. If my relatives acted all offended and avoided me like that, I would get in their faces, tell them to get bent, then be happy I never have to deal with them again.

I thought about it. Then I did it.
I was 17. All I needed was $125 for filing fees, affidavits from both my parents saying they gave consent, to show up in court about six weeks later, tell the judge "No, I'm not doing this to run from criminal charges" and bam. He signed a paper and I had a new name.
Why in the hell did it require lawyers for you? Or newspaper publishers? I never had to deal with either. My name change wasn't publicized. In fact, my friends never would've known if I hadn't told them. (They also never would've known what my name used to be if I hadn't shown them the paper from court to prove it)
Publishing a new name in a local news rag is mandatory here in Maryland. Hell if I know why. >_<
I may or may not have had to meet a lawyer to get the initial name change request form, but, when I was at the courthouse filling in their own change of name forms (which were marriage forms, go figure), and I kept asking the clerk "Where do I sign? What do I fill in here?" she just shook her head morosely, frowned, and said "I'm not allowed to tell you answers to those questions without legal counsel present" (which wasn't an option because the lawyer I met only met people "pro bono" at certain hours of the morning on a Tuesday), so I just kept ******** up forms and wasting paper and being told "sorry, you filled in where you weren't supposed to", until I finally got it right. That was annoying.
The lawyer bit was hilarious to me, because they seemed more willing to let their paper and ink get pissed away for my mistakes then they did to........get sued by some lawyers guild? Who knows why they acted so stubborn. BUT, I got it right on the fourth form copy, so the legal counsel thing stopped being important at that point forward.

Nah, I like my name. Plus, I feel it would be offensive to my parents if I did.
I knew a woman who wanted to legally add another 'e' to her daughters name, and had a fit when she had to go through all the s**t and pay the amount she did.
Yup. That's how it goes. Same amount no matter how much or how little gets changed. I was happy I changed the entire name, because I knew I was getting my money's worth. cool
