That is all good, but it isn't as easy to get a goat around her. And what about having to explaining the burning pyre to the authorities.

Jana: But I hate spoiled things. I mean, when is the last time you wanted to spoil some eggs or milk and tried to give it to some people? I give the kid back spoiled and they are going to make me pay for the diaper rash cream.

PS: I've come to the conclusion that diaper is a dumb word, and we should adopt the UK term nappy. It is just cuter to the ears.

@Nathan: So, I'm thinking maybe The Case of Charles Dexter Ward is in the Dream Cycle book because of the necromancy? I guess magic might be more of a Dreamlands thing.

It still doesn't make much sense to me, yet. A great deal of the stories are set in a place called the "dream lands", which 'Case of' makes no mention of at all.

Yeah... It almost seems more likely that the editor(s) just sort of threw it in there randomly, but??? why??
If they needed to fill space, surely they could have found more appropriate stories or poems.

Hello yes I am predictable.

Heh, right now I'm reading a novel that involves Black Dogs and Reapers and even Death himself.
I like that the Dogs in this book are fairly benign. They're just harbingers of death; they're not the cause of it. (I like when psychopomps and harbingers and personifications of death are portrayed as neutral entities rather than as bad guys.)

It's definitely a good one. Call me boring, but Toccata and Fugue in D Minor is one of my other favorites. I once found a video of it with a bar graph display showing all the notes throughout the piece's progression that was really interesting and fun to watch. Actually, let me find the link.

Also, yeah. I'll assume you're familiar with the Reapers portrayal in Supernatural as merely the escorts to the "afterlife" as opposed to the cause of death, then. I liked that about the show.

I'll tell you one thing, I thought Lovecraft's horror stories were wonky things. His fantasy stuff puts that to shame. The imagination involved makes me wonder if there were also drugs involved as well. xD

@Demi: Mystery solved. "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" is included in the Dream Cycle for, what appears to be, the sole fact that Randolph Carter (the protagonist of five stories, four of which are in the Dream Cycle) is mentioned once in the whole narrative.
