Ahha, I googled 'Erik Destler' and only Gerik was coming up so I figured I was missing something.

Obsessive Kitten

Erik Destler is the Erik from the 1989 Robert Englund film. He ends up with a messed up face because he sells his soul to the devil so the world can love his music and the devil chimes in "and that's all they'll love." So he skins people and sews the skin on his face with what looks like a fishing hook. He also has a pretty awesome Red Death costume in the masquerade scene.

I've been meaning to watch Englund but go me, during the final two weeks of the quarter. Perhaps I can convince the boyfriend to watch it with me.

Obsessive Kitten

It's kinda cheesy because it involves some time travel (starts out modern day but the Christine, who looks like she's 17, ends up traveling back in time to her past life as 'The' Christine) and it's not book accurate in any way shape or form. Still for an 80s horror flick it's pretty good. It was actually the first time I ever heard music from the opera Faust.

He seems interested, I'll bring home some popcorn on spring break. surprised
Robert Englund manages to deliver a really good performance and adds some gravity to what would be very cheesy lines said by anyone else.

I actually put it near the top of my personal list on the Phantom film list.

Obsessive Kitten

Yeah Englund's one hell of an actor when it comes to villain types. It's one of my personal faves as well.

I watched it during high school. I'd come home, make up some popcorn and chocolate milk and then watch it in segments on youtube. It's not my favorite, but I can say I've seen it.

Obsessive Kitten

I think I saw it back in junior high. Back when the phandom was new to me and I was grabbing every PotO titled movie from the video store or online. I'd watch them after school or when I stayed home sick (which was a lot). If it was a DVD I'd watch it in my room where I could play it on my PS2. I miss those days. Regrettably those were also the days that Gerik sounded good to me, but I got over that quick.

Erik Rider

Thoughts - bursts of laughter?

Obsessive Kitten

Pfffthahahaha. And that's not all they didn't get right!

And there's the last name Destler again.

Guys, what if they put Erik, without a nose, and then they would never get his nose right.

Obsessive Kitten

"Oh no. No, no no. Nonononono this is bad, this is really really bad!"

"What?"

"They just can't get my nose right!"

"But.... there's no nose."

"WELL THAT'S EASY FOR YOU TO SAY."

Cue big kid tantrum.

Hey - does anyone know who was playing the Phantom in the 2003 US tour?

It's driving me crazy - was it Gary Mauer, or Davis Gaines?
