I NEED HELP!

does anyone ever have problems when GIMP suddenly crashes on you?
my friend has Windows 7, and she's said that GIMP keeps shutting down
on her when she opens it. it's really frustrating D;

what can she do?

this is what shows up when she opens the program:
"A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

Tell her to think back to when the crashes started
And if she can remember
She should look to her brush inventory
But I'm probably jumping ahead here...
So does your/her gimp crash when you try to open an image
Create a new one
Or even use stroke selection?
I'm asking these questions because something like this has happened to me in the past

hers is crashing like when she first clicks on GIMP.
as soon as it loads, without her doing anything, it crashes and
the little quote i showed before is what she gets.

Tell her to remove all of her brush and font files from gimp
And place them in a separate folder
Then try to load gimp
It could be a corrupted brush/font file
When this happened to me
I removed all the files I downloaded before the crashes
And that usually solved the problem

This is my crappier version of that image you posted
I thought I'd try it out
I can't get that clone-ish thing to work for me
So I just erased stuff to make the background a bit more visible

I just take the original image, either do the cut out thing or just erase, depending on how well I want it to look.
Then select, copy, unselect, add new layer, paste.
Then I have another and I just recolor it ^^
Besides, I think your graphics are absolutely beautiful and you don't need to change anything.

I've finally understood how to use textures and it's making me super excited.
Like, I applied it to this image and without the texture of the shadow of the girl, it would look like crap.
click for bad example... I still suck at corner graphics x.x
But check out this puppy, quite proud of it 4laugh

Now... If only I could make graphics for my customers like I do so for myself D;

However, I still don't know how to do that dreamy look like you do.
You just do it so... Perfectly T__T

I still love the way your first graphic looks
With the way you shaped and used the images
And the near-shadow behind the girl
In all honesty
The shadow gives the image a more genuine, slightly 3D feel
Something you rarely see in graphics
So I think it looks wonderful
And I wish I could figure out how to do that
But I'll just let you teach me ;3

The second one is magnificent emotion_kirakira
And I'm in love with the simplcity
Plus you managed to fit all of that in a square
Something I could never do without ocd-ing over it > u>

Throw on a pattern
And use the blend tool

I'm, like, in love with the way you make your graphics =w=

Thanks. Just out of curiosity to see, I look without the shadow and it would be very lacking.
But I am terrible about using sizes with brushes when I work with "L" shapes.
Then it's like I'd be using too much and the layout would be blah, so I always make them simple looking owo

Oh the 2nd graphic didn't come without problems.
I honestly spent like two hours on it because I ocd too much.
Idk how people can just keep adding and adding and adding brushes because there is no way I can o.o
I like wig out and kept deleting and adding and deleting and adding brushes.
It was a long, tedious task D;

They best be ;D
But I still don't think I could make someone else something like I make for myself x.x
No need to be jealous. You need a shop to show off your amazing awesome graphics.
That is, unless you aren't the shop kind of person.
Honestly, I'm not either, but it makes some awesome gold and some happy people =D

Yeah. I like to stick to what I do.
Which is probably why I can't erase and blend like you XD
Once I know how to do something, I don't like doing anything new because it's shitty.

I always love cool, new, and unique brushes since they are such a pain in my tush to find.
But I hope I can do them justice, I really like them, even though I haven't even used them yet -w-
I'll probably play around with them in some random graphic for no customers but myself, make it awesome, then be unable to do the same for anyone else.
