The serious part of me says yes. The funny part of me says no, you can only rob them

it's not funny. nothing about that is funny.
Neither are dead babies but those jokes can be pretty funny. What is the difference between a truck full of dead babies and a truck full of bowling balls? I can unload a truck of dead babies with a pitch fork. It is called dark humor.

I'm guilty of laughing at dead baby jokes. And initially, I thought this thread would be about that one prostitute joke of whether or not it would be rape or shoplifting. I have been told my dark humor is not appreciated. redface

The same thing goes for women in the porn industry. Have you heard of the pink cross foundation? They try to help women in these situations and help them recover.

It pretty sad that some people don't see it as rape just because they get paid for sex (and sometimes they don't) or that women in these situations deserve it.

But a lot of women are not raped in porn. They sign a contract to be in a porn without reading the fine line that says the porn will include a**l or some s**t like that. Then they claim it is rape because it includes something they don't want to do because they didn't bother to read the contract they signed. That is still consent. Don't sign legal s**t if you don't bother to read it.

Ehh... I think you should have a look at the pink cross's webpage for yourself.

Yes, you can actually. Even if they are a prostitute, there are many scenarios out there where prostitutes have been raped. But I agree with you OP! Even if they are prostitutes and they made the decision to go into that, they still don't deserve rape, abuse and murder. They're still people! They made a bad choice, but they're still people!

They don't really deserve to be raped, more like...they're asking for it. :/ Even though they're kind of asking for it, they still don't deserve the rape.

A woman, regardless of her circumstances or profession is, in fact, a woman. She should be provided the same legal protection from rape, abuse, and murder as anyone else.

Regardless of a person's profession or circumstances a person is still a person. A living being. Part of this world. This rule is not limited to women.

Of course a prostitute can be raped, but the problem is that a lot of people are laughed at, ridiculed and threatened not to press charges and/or go to the police not just prostitutes. This is a crazy problem that needs to be solved...
I'm sure it's the ridicule that keeps them from pressing charges and not the fact that all parties involves are criminals.

Until prostitution becomes legal, prostitutes can't do much about it. So support legal prostitution if you really care.

No one deserves to be raped, unless they are a rapist themselves. lol

But prostitutes are doing something risky and they need to know that s**t like that can happen. It's not right, but it happens.

Underwater welding is risky too. Hell, cooking is risky. But if you enjoy your job, you accept the fact that there are risks and do what you can to mitigate them.

Personally, I have a relatively rigorous question period, and I DO NOT go to hotels or in the car with the client. Where I live, the only legal way to work is to go to the client (call-ins, such as a brothel, where the customer comes to you are illegal) so I still have a fairly high amount of risk. HOWEVER, knowing the address of the client gives me a certain measure of safety, as I am working within the confines of the law, and can provide an address to police in the event something happens. Before I go, I text the address to a friend of mine, and text her again after the appointment is over.

YES YES this forever! The safest way for sex workers to operate is to be able to do so legally.

Where are you located? I'm in the USA and I know that only in the state of Nevada prostitution is allowed.

Canada. The only place here where prostitution is completely legal is Ontario, and there is currently a federal bill under review to legalise nationally. In my province, Call-ins are illegal, but call-outs (where the worker goes to the customer) are fine. Pimping is also illegal.

I know that rape is a problem, but there are a lot of false allegations due to the contract thing.

OP: Hey do all of you agree that terrible things are terrible

Everyone Else: Yes

Ok that was fun.
I think no one can argue that rape is bad, even when it happens to prostitutes.... In fact that might be even more sad. I mean how loaded does a question have to be?

Now if you want to ask as to what can be done about this? should prostitution be legalized so that prostitutes would be eligible for legal benefits or would that contribute to the overall problem of human trafficking etc etc etc...
