I understand your point more than theirs. xD Honestly I think the idea that one should do nothing but apply themselves is almost... outdated? It's a lot easier to motivate with positive reinforcement (giving a reward for actions done) than to simply expect things of you.

The essays themselves aren't due for another month, but the proposals are all due tomorrow morning. T oT And they require sources that we'll use in our actual essays, so they can't just be half-done. Urghhhh.

I couldn't ever study Chinese.... It's bad enough learning kanji for Japanese, I'd hate an entire language based on them! Plus speaking-wise everything sounds so... different than English/Spanish/Japanese.

Mmm.... I have a lot of sources that I can look at, but I need to pick ones that are relevant to what I want to write about. For example, for my history of Japan class I might do my essay on the kofun, which were tombs built into hills under large mounds of dirt. I can find a lot of stuff telling me "they were tombs built into hills under large mounds of dirt," but I have to be more careful looking if I want to find stuff about, for example, why they stopped using the kofun later on.

I had someone try to teach me Chinese once.... It did not go well. rofl Noooope.
