[Welcome to The Okiya]

Introduction:
Welcome to the Okiya- a Geisha house. We have a fine line of Geishas to serve and entertain you-- for a good price of course. We take away the loneliness in your heart and fill it with joy and laughter if only for the time being. Watch in amazement as we dance, sing, play musical instrument, serve you sake or tea, and talk with you-- all the while, staying as graceful as always. So why not come down to the Okiya. It'll be our pleasure to serve you.

About:
The Okiya is where Geishas, Maikos (Apprentice Geisha) and servants (aspiring to be Maikos) live in. Most girls are sold to the Okiya and starts off as a servant. As the young girls strive to perfect their training in entertainment, they are promoted to Maikos then to Geishas. The amount of time of this transition varies from the talents of the young girls and their determination to do good.

Geisha:
Geishas are the ones who have graduated their training as Maikos and have successfully sold their mizuages (virginity) to the highest bidder. This does not mean that Geisha's are prostitutes. First and foremost, Geishas are entertainers, they do not commit any sexual relations with her customers--- that is of course with the exception of the Geisha's danna. The more popular the Geisha is, the more pricey it is to hire them to entertain. Geishas usually are present on teahouses and private parties--- a symbol of wealth of the host. With a wealthy danna, a Geisha can possibly break off of the Okiya if she wishes.

Maiko:
Maikos are apprentice Geishas, these are the girls who have finished serving as maids and now are promoted to be Maiko. Maikos are required to attend at local schools where they have teachers who specializes in every aspects of entertaining and gracefulness. Aside from school training a Maiko must also follow her older sister (a Geisha) and learn from her how to be a Geisha. As the Maiko's training come to an end, she is to have a private recital in an attempt to attract wealthy men on bidding on her mizuage or virginity. A certain percentage of the payment for the Maiko's muzuage goes to the older sister Geisha and most of the time the rest goes to the Okiya. After a Maiko's mizuage has been sold, she is to have a ceremony, entitling her to be a Geisha. Along with the ceremony comes changing the Maiko's name in symbol that she is now a new person and have thrown away her old self.

Maids/Servants:
Maids or servants are the new girls who have been sold to the Okiya. This is where every girl start on their journey to becoming a Geisha. They are to do tedious chores around the house and serve the house mother and the Geishas. After a maid or a servant have earned the house mother's approval, she become a Maiko. Along with this, the house mother must ask a Geisha to be an older sister to the new Maiko to teach her the ways of being a Geisha.

Danna:
Danna is the Geisha's personal patron. Though a Geisha may have a danna, she is not restricted to still be hired to be company to other men in teahouses or parties. A danna provides for the Geisha for her school, lessons and even clothing. A danna and a Geisha's relationship is usually sexual but love can also be developed. However, a danna cannot marry a Geisha. Their relationship is to remain Danna and Geisha unless the Geisha is purchased from the Okiya. However, this is not usually done because most of the wealthy dannas are already married and it is viewed as a bit shameful to marry a Geisha. (People will gossip)

Okiya:
This is where Geishas, Maikos and Maids are found. If an employer is looking to hire a Geisha or get any information regarding a Geisha, this is where they go. An employer must speak to the house mother prior to having a Geisha accompany him. Both the house mother and the employer must come in agreement as to how much the Geisha is paid for her services. The Okiya is also where those who have young girls to sell go to. The seller is to meet the house mother and present the young girl/s that they are to sell. If the house mother likes the girls and agrees to buy them, the two will now negotiate as to how much they will cost.


Teahouses//Private Parties:
Teahouses-
This is a place where Geishas accompany and entertain their employers. They are to serve tea or sake, sing, dance, play musical instruments, chat and drink with men. A presence of a Geisha usually attracts many customers, in result, the teahouse they're in may or may not give them a small portion of their earning for the day. Sometimes teahouses also hire Geishas to entertain their customers.

Private Parties-
Geishas in private parties symbolize the status of the host. As most Geishas are expensive to hire, having multiple Geishas in one party shows the wealth employer. Geishas are to do their usual entertainment to the party guests as they would in teahouses.

Rules:
-Geisha is NOT a prostitute!
- This is a lit/semi-lit rp so please put a little detail in your posts. Please do not use * when your character is supposedly doing an action.
-The minimum requirement to each post is one whole sentence which is minimum of 7 words. This way, it can still be descriptive unlike things like "She walked over to him."
-Please be creative! Creativity is a real big plus!
-Keep everything PG 13. You are NOT to touch any of the Geisha unless you are the Geisha's danna. Keep in my mind affectionate actions are not taken in public with your Geisha as it would seem immoral. If you are to have a tender moment with your Geisha (meaning kissing or hugging) you will have to be somewhere private, not infront of everyone in a teahouse or the streets!
-Respect all the members and their RP styles. Just because someone posted alot, doesn't mean you have to get on their case about it.
-Please PM all profiles to me, do not post them here.
-Do not post until I give you the go to join.
-Read all rules before joining. If you have read this, title your PM "Ayiko" and in the very end of it, put "Yurushite"
-I'm open for suggestions for the positions so if you come up with something, please tell me and I'll tell you if it's alright.
-Your appearance can be an anime picture, an OC or even your avatar. However, it must suit your part. For me for example, I can't use my avatar because she's a fairy. Just use common sense. If you are to use your avi, make sure to have the proper clothing while roleplaying. When you're outside the rp, you may dress as you like.
-I may add more rules at a later time but for now this is it.

IMPORTANT: The mizuage issue: Do not go too specific on the details. Keep it PG 13. Have a kind of a before and after effect. If you should really want to get into it, please bring it to PMs (of course with the consent of both players). Anyone who disgrace this thread and post something inappropriate here will be reported and banned from the thread.

Bio: Yuko is a perfective, aiming to have the best Okiya in town. Perhaps this is why her expectation to her own daughter is very high. Yuko conceived Saya at the age of 21. Her danna then gave her alot of money to keep her mouth shut about who Saya's father whose so we would not lose face to other people. Yuko is a strict woman who can be brutal to the girls in her Okiya if they should fail in any task she appoints to them.

Bio: Saya was raised in a strict environment given that her mother was the owner of the Okiya. Her mother expected the best from her at everything, demanding her to excel more than the other Geishas. However, Saya was not blessed with perfection. Because of this, her mother would always say harsh words about her not deserving the own the Okiya, even sometimes doubting that she is her daughter because of their skill comparison. Saya's timid personality however is her gift, the way she charms customers because of her soft personality. Saya specializes in dancing with fans, graceful as a swan.

Bio: As a young girl, Hanako was sold by her father, who had no money to provide for the rest of the family. He had said to little Hanako that this was her responsibility as the oldest, and that she would be much honored if she went through with this. With her head held high, she was soon sold to an okia and worked very hard as child. Seeing her determination, the house mother allowed her to go to geisha school, where she excelled, and soon became a maiko. She sold her mizuage at the age of 16, and since then has been a fairly successful geisha. Her talents lie with dancing and conversation. Hanako is very easy to be around, and knows how to entertain her customers.

Bio:Born from a mixture of and Kitsune. Came from a well to do family on mother's side, Her mother being one of the heads of her kitsune clan. Father was murdered after the town found out he was married to a kitsune demon. Family had always disliked the delicate child and so sold her off to a young priest who happened upon the village. Priest held a great fondness for her as he raised her. They traveled across Japanas a loving father and his daughter for years always ariving back in Osaka where she loved to play with her friend Hatsuharu for long periods of time, Be fore the priest gave her to the Tsuchinobara Okiya believing it was the best he could do for her.

Bio: She was sold to the Okiya as a pre-teen by kidnappers. Something tramautizing must have happened because she didn't act like a normal child. She worked like a machine, cold and calculating. Her face is almost always blank, but a mask of smiles and laughs is put on when entertaining. She works with pricision, but puts forth no feelings in them. Her hair was cut short due to an accident in the Okiya with a customer. She specializes in serving tea and fan dancing if Saya is unavailable.

Bio: Growing up she mother was once a Geisha and Aki dreamed of being one. After many many years of keeping herself proberly groomed to become one her mother sent her to a Geisha house where she was at once accepted. After several years of bone aching teachings she was finally able to become a Geisha. After several months of being a geisha she soon realized why her mother loved it so much. One night after keeping her Danna company she went home and decided to write her mother a letter. It was that night she realized her mother died in a house fire. It was a natural fire and it never seemed to bug Aki. Once she became a Geisha she learned how to hide her emotions and was called Natsuki Matorie.

Bio: Aiko was a girl raised by a Baron and his wife. Until her 12th she didn't know that she wasn't their real daughter. After she found out, she still loved them, but wanted to leave. The burden of a child was too much for the Baron ssince he was old, so she decided to dedicate her life to art. By trying to become a geisha one day.

When she first caught sight of a geisha, her eyes grew wide with wonder and admiration. From then on, she has dreamed of becoming one. For years she scrounged around to find enough money that would satisfy the House Mother, and let her into the Okiya. When she finally did and came to the house, she finally felt at home.

Her mother is a retired Geisha who had a child with her Danna. She still lives in the area and gets occasional visits from Raihas father.

Usual Geisha: Sakurai Saya (Danna)
Bio: Takiko is a wealthy landlord to a high-class street district in the town. Houses there are usually rented to upper-class citizen's and businessmen who want to enjoy the sights and services that the surrounding area has to offer. But Takiko wasn't always a landlord, before he was a landlord he was involved in the darker part of society. He was a ninja, a hired assassin for anyone that can pay the price he demanded. He killed, and did his job well. After several years of killing, in an attempt to start a new life Takiko used all the money he had saved up and started buying land around the entertainment district. A few months later, he had almost completely left his previous life behind him. In an attempt to drown away his past he goes to the Okiya and his Geisha, Saya.
Appearance: (picture to the right) A man of a slim, yet trim build Takiko has straight, short, black hair that naturally flows down. He often wears Gaijin business suits from America, usually of neutral tones, and brown. He likes brown... Always keeping a small dagger under his coat, he also uses a cane to walk about. Takiko has a pale complexion, not too white, not too peach.

Bio: Born in a wealth family, a gentle soul, Vega grew up with just his sister Agula to look up to. His parents weren't the nicest to his due to his dreams of the world and pure ideals on life. As he came of age he came across a school of the arts and enrolled to concure his time in the day so he'd have less time at home. By age 25 he learned about the Giesha due to an interaction a time before but due to his life thus far he knew he couldn't get anywhere near one unless he became a donna. His quest in life att that point was to become the wealthiest donna so to own the finest gaeisha in town.

Bio: Despite his young age, he became a yakuza when he was still in High School. His life as a child was hard and he really didn't have any true family for he was the "mistake" of his parents during sexual intercourse. As Yano Monotomo slowly blossomed into an adult, his rank in Za Shuuyoujo also rose. This brought vile whispers behind his back for how could a boy as young as he have such a high rank in a japanese mafia?! Even so, he ignored this and continued to rise to power in the mafia, but as his status rose so did the insanity of the "jobs" he had to take on. It didn't take long before he had enough of the Za Shuuyoujo because his still pre-mature brain couldn't handle what was being called for. Monotomo left the Za Shuuyoujo. As we all know, when a member leaves any type of criminal organization their mouths are stitched forever to keep them quiet, and that is exactly what happened to him. He was hunted down to keep quiet. Can he possibly find any peace? Maybe he can in this Geisha house. Maybe, just maybe here he can forget his past and just finally relax and have fun for once, even if just for a little bit.

Appearance: (Image to the left) A man standing at about 6 foot tall with an average, slim body tone. His hair runs thin, short, with hair of an almost golden blue that drops to just above his shoulders with the help of gravity. He is normally seen wearing his High School uniform even though he is an adult, and holding a dagger with a blade the size of the middle finger under his jacket. His complextion is that of a dark tone, but not brown; iut is more of a golden tan.

Bio: Suichi was born within a wealthy environment and from which has been spoiled rotten. His father is the District manager at Hiratori Inc. who own vast amounts of land as well as the Okiya's within them, well all but one owned by a Miss Yuko Sakurai. His son now of age follows in his father greedy footsteps and know owns half of his father's share. He plans is to get the Yuko Okiya by any means necessary.

April 26th 2007

On page 19, the time has transitioned to late afternoon//night time (around 6 pm or so). All guests have left around after lunchtime. Geisha and their little sister maiko are to be in the teahouse (or heading there) at this time. All sisterless Maiko and Maid are to stay in the house with the house mother. Maiko and Maid that are not in the teahouse may still interact with male customers in secret or accident (a chance for a forbidden romance or attraction maybe?). This gives everyone the chance to start off fresh again and be able to catch up.

Three new Maiko have joined us: Kanaka Raiha (Soco Amaretto Lime), Akira Emi (Sakura_Haruhana), and Hiiro Hurogan (eevee_0).

Note: Just because a Geisha has a danna doesn't mean that you cannot interact with them. A geisha still remains a geisha irregardless of her having a danna or not. Soon, our Geisha will have danna but they are still to entertain their customers dispite this. Did you know that a Geisha's relationship with their danna is not supposed to get in the way of their job? Yup yup!

IDEAL TIMES TO ROLEPLAY:
I will be online at these times: 8:30am to 1:30pm and from 2:30pm to 2:00am.
These are the time guaranteed that someone will be roleplaying with you at least (me). I have taken it to priority to be in those times. However, if I am not on, I guarantee that it's because of emergency reasons. These times may vary if my current status change. (so please check this as often as possible)
