Your time practicing in Ghana doesn't count? That's rough. I guess you'll be extra busy for some time to come then between that, studies, research and conferences. Add recreational stuff and that's a ton.
Yeah, I really hope we do have that game day this Sat. and bonus, it'll be the first Sat. in many weeks not raining so it's ideal.
Oh, that sounds a lot like the topography and variety in CA. I'm sure the animals and plants were quite different though.
So this is a very special time in your life; may as well make the most of it and enjoy it thoroughly. All those adventures.
Alas, due to health issues of one of the people coming, they were not able to make it. So we're trying for Sat. I hope she is feeling better and up to it as I know she really wants to do this. It was her idea. It did rain heavy for awhile last Sat., we're under another atmospheric river as I'm posting this but the rain totals ended up less than half what was predicted, but the winds are heavy. And yep, they're saying next Sat. looks wet and another river is hitting next Monday. So it goes on. Most of the flooding this month though has been further south as most of the storm energy of past storms went a bit south of us.
I am looking forward to game day finally happening.
That sounds like it was a terrific trip! I hope you are able to keep in touch with some of the new friends you made there. So what kind of ecosystem is Ghana in? It sounds mountainous if it has waterfalls.
I'm beginning to think your job involves more traveling than actually practicing medicine. I know you're having a ton of fun at those though while learning interesting stuff. All that free travel, food, socializing...
Thank you. It was interesting making a spring avi in very winter colors.
Speaking of which, winter here was very wet with some flooding and it looks like spring is more of the same. Our game night is Sat. and it'll be interesting if they can get here for it. The roads out of their area could well be flooded or they could be without electricity again being in a low laying rural area. Don't worry about us, it's really unlikely our house will flood this year and so far we haven't lost power during these storms, unlike everyone else. We're prepared though, just in case.
So did you have time to learn the culture there, the feel of the place?
No idea yet; it's the first one. There are lots of possibilities, but we're looking at card games that require some skill, like Hearts, Pinochle, Poker, etc.
You were already in Africa? I want to hear all about your experiences there. I'm surprised you have all these conferences on top of that. You're such a super achiever!
Welcome back for the short time you are here.
Not much change for me; still dealing with normalizing thyroid hormone levels and hoping I don't need to kill my thyroid with radiation. In the meantime, I'm able to get some stuff done and have a bit of a social life. I went to another mystery theater dinner, this time with my husband who did enjoy it and with the couple I met at the first one. The two guys really hit it off and now we're planning to do a regular game night with them. The first one is March 11th. It's quite the drive for them to come here as they live about 45 min north of us before heavy traffic is added in but they were eager to do this. I have a meetup this Sat. and time scheduled with my other local friend coming up for her birthday. Eventually it'll be the 5 of us on game nights when her schedule allows for it.
My next avi used tomorrow is the one I made using the item you gave me. I love your current avi, every spring like. I bet you enjoyed the warmer weather in Africa.
