the results came in for my mom's endoscope (stomach).
during the procedure, the dr said he'd removed a "small polyp" and did some biopsies (these are routine). when you hear back within the same week.....
the polyp was adenomatous. that means a cancer.
basically what i can make of the report is my mom had or has the startings of stomach cancer.
the dr said he didn't go in with the intention of removing a cancer spot, so he didn't take a bigger piece out, but he thinks he got the whole thing as the edges around the thing were non-cancerous. but he wants to go back in in a few months to check and make sure there's no more, and no growth. etc.
mom has been nauseated and had stomach pain and issues since February. last year she had gained... 30 or 40 lbs... but after the stomach stuff, she lost weight. i dunno 20 to 40lbs?
despite that her stomach is kind of bloated. ><'
there's a CT ordered for her small bowel, but apparently insurance has to give approval. which is lame. they need to approve it. so we can look in there and see if there's more polyps.
hurry up, insurance people!
i'm kind of worried there might be stuff in her small bowel.
because she's been feeling so lousy, and barely eats anything. and because with such a thing in her stomach, and her health history, it wouldn't be surprising if her small bowel has something wrong too.
