OctoCamo's Diary
I write here what I please and act like someone cares.
I was told that my contract will be continued again, but haven't gotten the new one.
It's been heck of a month with our company having trouble with virus outbreak that spread through PDF files. The virus outbreak was some other divisions problem, but the countermeasures were a huge pain for my location as well... Also been busy because other one of our two buildings is being shut down and needs to be cleared by end of the month. I need vacation.

Got some stuff from Fangamer. A really cool Star Fox print and Ukiyo-e Heroes Okami shirt.

Had sinusitis in beginning of the month and it put me into just powerless enough mood that I finally got around watching some anime.
Kill la Kill is a series which artstyle I've been obsessing over for a long time, but finally actually went ahead and watched it. Show starts as bit meh, but it got really good.
Hozuki no Reitetsu appealed to me because I'm big fan of Japanese folklore. It's about King Enma's right-hand man demon Hozuki solving Japanese Hell's problems. My favorite episodes were the ones where Satan and Beelzebub from European Hell visits Japanese Hell.
Space Brothers is a long series with 99 episodes, so I was little skeptical about sticking with it, but ended up breezing through over half of the series in a weekend, currently at Episode 91. It's about brothers who dreams of going to space. Younger brother becomes an astronaut while older one gives up on the dream and ends up working as car designer until he gets in fight with his boss and gets fired and blacklisted in the industry and with a push from his family he starts working towards his old dream.

Got the New 3DS because I'm a tool. I got the Skull Kid figurine as a bonus for pre-ordering the system with The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. The figurine is quite nice. Also got the new Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate despite not being big into MH3U. At least beginning is more promising. Also got few cover plates for the 3DS. I had to get a new Micro SD card for the system and luckily our store that had the post office had 16GB cards on quite a nice sale, so was able to pick one up at same trip I picked up the system.

Nintendo screwed the pooch with their Gamecube controller availability, so I settled with third party. Works great, and it can be used on PC so I Could get the GC emulator. Ended up getting F-Zero GX after hearing again and again how great it is. Also got Criminal Girls for Vita because lolis. Also the second (and last) Volume of Levi's Attack on Titan No Regrets spin-off. Haven't read it yet, but liked the first volume.

While in topic of comics, I finally bought physical copies of first volumes of two of my recent favorite series, Fables and Y: The Last Man. I read them digitally before, but now I can actually share the series with my friends.

And here's some other comics that I've been reading lately. Ms. Marvel is pretty good, though had bit higher expectations due to a lot of internet hype. All New Ghost Rider is surprisingly good, though at first I thought design was weird. Guardians of the Galaxy is still great. We saw a lot of Venom as well as finally learned symbiotes origin.

=== UPDATE: February 25th, 2015 ===

I've put few hours into the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I'm happy that it finally has the Miiverse support, even though flatout screenshot system would've been even better.
So far it seems a lot more impressive than Monster Hunter 3 did, but that's not really much said.

Also picked up some anime again. Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories is a two season 4 minute shorts series animated in old Japanese paper puppet show style. Like the name says, it's a bunch of ghost stories. I don't know if these are actual renown stories in Japan, but still really interesting stuff. Parasyte: The Maxim is also really good show. In it small wormlike aliens burrow into humans brain taking over it and becoming shapeshifting monsters feeding on humans. The main character gets one of these parasites in his body as well, but it fails to get to the brain and ends up taking over the main characters right hand. It's currently an on-going series with 19 episodes out in Crunchyroll. I've watched 18 of the episodes so far and I'm enjoying it a lot.

I finished Space Brothers anime. It was great, though manga is a lot further in the story so I was little disappointed where anime ended. I might pick up the manga where the show left off.
Anyway, the series rekindled bit of my love for space, so I felt like buying something space related. I was browsing Kennedy Space Center's catalogue some years ago and thought that the Apollo programs 40th anniversary medallion was really cool. It was still in stock, so I decided to go with it. It contains metal that's been on the moon in Apollo missions. Also bought astronaut ice cream, which I liked.

Also ended up buying another one of those random Japan packages that I've ordered couple other times with some reading and treats. Anchovy & Garlic tortilla chips are just as good as the grilled pork ones from few months ago and I still find it just as funny to see Sailor Moon characters in such chips. I think the character is random. I'm happy that I got Sailor Jupiter, who has become my favorite over the years despite not liking her when I was a kid. Melon chocolate, white chocolate marshmallows and Meiji strawberry thingines are great. Tempura is awful and I won't eat it another piece. Also bought a "Coro Coro" book that came with some poster(?) and a book that has people's top 100 favorite monsters in Yokai Watch that is currently rivaling Pokemon in Japan. Pretty neat monsters in there. The Coro Coro is also pretty neat, Japanese kids are lucky to get a cheap 800 page book with everything from bunch of comics to game news and toy advertisement like that.

I bought Dragonball Xenoverse for PS4 digitally. It's pretty good, though not as good as I remember Budokai Tenkaichi 3 being. I enjoy the character creator though I hope they'll add more customization options and I'm a sucker for "what if" scenarios which the story revolves around. New characters are also pretty neat, I wonder if Toriyama designed them.

Got the Artbook two for Legend of Korra. It made me really want to rewatch the series already.

=== UPDATE: March 6th, 2015 ===

Got the February's Loot Crate in the mail yesterday. My favorite thing in the box by far are the Rock, Paper, Scissors dice. The Pac-Man poster is pretty neat too. I was hoping for a fast Hexbug that Roki could chace around, but instead I got a slow Larva model that Roki didn't appreciate. "Ready Player One" might be good read and it's not awfully thick. Amazon has suggested it for me few times. DIY Munny is a fun idea, but I'm not in a creative mood right now.
