Thoughts
Social Media
Social Media

I'm not a very big fan of social media. Well, in a way, I suppose I am, because I do enjoy looking at what people ate as I do love trying new foods in new places. But, other than that, not very big a fan.

I'll admit, I used to be one of those people that sat there and thought, Oh, I can't wait to take a picture of this and post it online, or something that was usually among those lines. I was never a status updater, but I didn't mind uploading a few pictures here and there. Now, I usually only upload pictures because my family tells me to, Upload that on Facebook, so our family elsewhere can see it too! Which, makes sense to me, I don't mind sharing our lives here with our family in other countries, and that's about the only reason why I upload anything for that matter.

It could be because I'm simply just growing out of this phase of being involved in social media, other than Yelp, of course, because I have to rate restaurants sometimes just to get their free Thai tea or BOGO shwarma. Honestly though, I don't see the need for social media, because now there's Line, or Viber, which we could easily send pictures to others and just keep it between us. And/or, it could be the fact that I'm dating someone who isn't involved in social media. He is completely outside of the realm of social media; instead, he focuses on the people around him and he networks with those around him. There's no time for social media, he tells me, and as our lives continue on, I am beginning to realize that. He's far too busy with work, while I'm far too busy with school.

Plus, I guess there is something special about keeping pictures just to ourselves. Sometimes, I want to share family photos with our families across the world, but don't want to share it with everyone else. Facebook is not the only answer, though many people seem to think it is. I personally prefer using a texting app that allows for international free texts and calls.

Perhaps, it is time for me to break away from the world of social media. I should probably stop wasting my time looking at people's Instagram and reading people's Facebook statuses. That will probably be my New Year's resolution for 2015, because I have other, much more pertinent things to focus on in life now. Guess I'll just stick to the whole, "Upload it so our family can see it" thing, but all other pictures I take, I'll keep those for myself and the people I choose to share it with personally.
