Thoughts
You Think That's Hard...
You Think That's Hard...

I hate these words. Just as much as I hate "I told you so".
Clearly, some things that I do are not as hard as other people have to do(I'm a full time student but others are full time students and they work). And clearly, some things that I do are harder than what other people have to do (I'm a full time student with a major in the medical field while others are part time students as a business major). I'm not saying being a business major isn't difficult, but to some people having a major in the medical field is harder than a lot of other majors. And so others, having a major in the medical field is not as hard as having a major in the science field, such as biochemistry.

It all depends on your standpoint and how much you can handle. God never gives anybody more than they can handle. For me, I can't handle being a full time student, medical major, and working part/full time. For others, they're full time students, have jobs whether part or full time, and have some major in uni. For them, they can handle it.

Don't tell somebody, "You think that's hard?!" because you don't know them. I've been told this by my parents recently and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and give an edge of attitude back at them. I reasoned with a rebuttal along the lines of "I know, I know so many other people have it harder than I do."
But even though I know so many people have it harder and I top my hat off to them, I know my limit and what I'm going through is a lot for me. I know people who are complaining because their nail broke and it's going to ruin their entire nail design and I find myself rolling my eyes at them. BUT, I don't tell them "Wow, your life is so hard. But it can't be as hard as mine or this person's" because it's mean and degrading. Yes, it's something stupid to be crushed about but I'm using it as an example that some people's troubles may seem SO small to you compared to what you're going through or what you see other people going through, but that might be their limit. You don't know and you never will know.

So, stop and think before you go telling people, "You think that's hard?", because you don't know what they're going through and what their capacity is. I'm sick of people telling others this. And I'm sick of myself even thinking about this sentence in my head. It's like comparing one child with another--it crushes the child being compared because he doesn't feel like he's good enough. That's not to say, continue praising the child for vegging on the couch--no. Instead, encourage the child to do more with his life and engage, initiate, and encourage.
