-The Life-
Just a journal I'm keeping for the sake of sanity...
So I say to myself, That's the ticket.
I just got back from DC's concert. By the way, while he is pretty much the best thing since sliced bread, a Dane Cook concert is not exactly something you want your parents tagging along to.

My mom is pretty cool, and she enjoyed it. But my Dad... well, let's put it this way. He either didn't get the jokes, or regretted it when he did.
But all in all, it was everything it could've been.

It was fifteen different kinds of awesome.

I shouldn't be here, writing this. I should be working on schoolwork. I've been sick as a pesticide infected tarantula spinning awkardly in a stainless steel bucket bin, so I've missed a lot of school... which has resulted in my grades slipping somewhat dramatically.

Of course, this hinders me not from my routine procrastination.
Working on "Romeo and Juliet" (and other Shakespearian clasics) in English. Gotta say, I pretty much hate that little production for a number of reasons.

That which they portay as "love" in R & J occurs much to quickly to hold any subsantiality whatsoever. Let me be clear on this: I do not believe in love at first sight. There's simply no such thing.

That is what we call lust. It happens across a room, with no prior conversation or insight into a person's personality at all.
Well it can happen anywhere, but that is the case in Romeo and Juliet.

Secondly, Romeo is entirely too fickle. You may be thinking "Nina, the guy committed suicide for her... if that's not decisive, I don't know what is." Well, you also have to take in consideration that one second, Romeo was in love with Rosaline. Then BAM, out of nowhere, with one stupid look, he's head over heels for another girl.

Just like that.

Then, of course, the whole suicidal thing really gets to me. I've always thought of suicide as entirely selfish and avoidable, and nothing can justify it.

My religion tells me that God won't hand me anything that I'm not capable of handling with His assistance. Don't mean to get all biblical on ya, but there it is. Plain fact.

And the entire thing upsets me a little, because there's no real reason why it doesn't work out for them. The entirety of its tragedy is grounded on unfortunate, completely avoidable coincidences.

Shakespeare did that on purpose, though, of course. To frustrate you, so you would think about it more. And obviously, he succeeded.

And then there's "Romeo, Romeo, whereforeart thou Romeo," which most people think is "where are you Romeo?" when it's actually "why are you Romeo," Y'know, because he's a Montague and all, thus her sworn enemy.

By the way, I also think they should've gona into depth a bit more on the whole family feud thing. Why had the Capulets and the Montagues been fighting for centuries? Did they ever clear that one up?

Okay, I'm taking up way too much of my journal addressing Shakespeare.

I am so lame.

Sure, I can blame half of it on the fact that it's late and I'm a little hyper and I've been inhaling secondhand smoke for the past hour or so due to the stoners outside the Ice Palace or Thunder Dome or whatever they're calling it nowadays.

Wow I need to stop talking.

Really I should just go to bed.... that would be nice. But I've got schoolwork to do, and I should probably get on that... and I'm still readin this one novel I'm kinda hooked on, so that'll also contribute to tonight's lack of sleep....

Ugh. Screw it, I'm just gonna hit the hay.
