I never knew travel could be such a pain. Toukun always ran around like a little kid and never shut up, Torri jumped at everything that moved, and Fenix did nothing. That made me wonder just how long we were going to last.
“Hey guys! There's something going on ahead," Toukun yelled.
"Good for you Toukun," I thought, "you can finally hear." In a matter of fact I heard something, too. A monster.
“Impossible. Monsters are not allowed to go on the road. They even know that it's suicide,” Fenix said with a smile. He drew his sword and in a flash, he was gone. Torri, who was behind me, pulled out a short sword. The shadows around him engulfed him and he disappeared into the shadows. Toukun changed into a wolf and ran to fight the monsters. I did not draw my own sword, but I did run forward; to my great surprise the monsters where attacking a family.
“Well this is a first,” I said as I threw up a shield between the family and my friends and monsters. Fenix was fighting three on one and both Torri and Toukun were fighting their own. Something just didn't seem right. It was once Fenix took down one that I heard the family scream. The father, who I thought was the father, started to change shape and size. I threw down the shield and ran to grab the monster's head; now my touch can be deadly. The thing screamed out in pain and begged for me to stop. At that moment I spoke an immobilization spell. All the muscles in the creature's body stopped working.
“What are you doing in the middle of the road? You know it's suicide to do that!” I yelled. I heard a thump behind me and I knew that Fenix got done with another.
“Our master told not to say anything to anyone,” it said weakly. “He will kill us if we did.”
“Do you think that you will live anyway? I showed one third of my power when I touched you. Do you want to die like that or die faster?” The monster took a moment to think about this.
“Okay, okay. Our master said that we can take our homeland back if we attack anyone who we cross. I was the only one who didn't believe him because he is the.... I will not say. He gave us the power to change into humans to kill them easier.” The final three creature's dropped to the ground.
“Thank you and goodbye.” I must of smiled when I grabbed the thing's head.
