The Lowdown
Here's what's happening:
Today (Friday, Feb. 2nd) is partially a chance to RP getting into your teams, and partially to score some extra points. The real game begins Saturday; you won't be hindered by missing today, and today should be relatively low-intensity.
In order to use your accessory, your character will be involved in a quick ceremony, temporarily tattooing a mark to their skin. By placing a marble in the center of the mark, they gain the power of the marble. If they have no marble equipped, then you have one turn to get one in before your character starts feeling ill, weak, and otherwise too screwed up to move.

If you don't have a complete team, then you won't be able to use your accessory until you've formed your team. If you haven't found a team by the end of the day, then you'll be put in a team with someone random. If I'm feeling nice, I'll try to match you up in good teams, but don't count on it.
There's a sign-up thread listed below. Even if you can't play today, try to post in here (if you're on a team, only one teammate should post).
Finally, please note that you all have accessories. Do a search for your username in the Player Roster thread to see what you ended up with; check it out in the Accessories Directory thread to see what it does.
Folks who have active accessories on them can recognize others who have active accessories via their normal senses. This means, if you see, hear, smell, whatever, another marble-bearer, you can tell that he is a marble bearer. You can't sense a marble-bearer if you wouldn't be able to sense him normally.
Factions
Here is what your faction provides your character: a general goal, a set of advantages, and a starting city. What it does not provide your character: a huge army of allies. Each team is its own free agent, and as long as you don't do anything to hinder your faction as a whole, it will act neither to aide nor to hinder you.
Well, aside from whatever is listed as your faction's advantage.
Important Threads
Judge Request Thread
This is perhaps one of the most important threads. Have a disagreement? Getting the short end of the stick? Post your problem, and a link to the problem, in this thread. A judge should help you shortly if it's on-hours, and if it's off-hours, a judge may help you anyways.
Rolling and Accessorizing Thread
Another Very Important Thread (VIT?). Any time you do anything that would change any of your stats (Critical roll, change your accessory), you must post in this thread, explaining who was involved, how they were involved, and a link to where it happened.
Player Roster
Here, you'll find player stats, equipped accessories, and everyone's bios. Remember, don't be a Miss Cleo (if you don't know what that is, re-read the rules section of the Barton OOC Triad thread!): the bios are there to keep everyone accountable, not tip your character off to some advantage.
The Accessories Thread
This is a list and description of all known accessories. For your reference.
Gaia World Map
A directory of the location threads of Triad.
OOC Chatter Thread
Ha! Got you! This is the original Triad thread. Keep the OOC chatter there.
Scoring
I've mentioned that one of the prizes is awarded to the highest-scoring team. You get points by getting marbles. The three ways you can get marbles is by defeating a boss, defeating a PC, and solving a puzzle. Bosses and puzzles will appear throughout Gaia at random (yet somehow always near some PCs, so nobody ever has to run across the world to find something to do).
Want to figure out what you score for an action? Here's the guidelines:
- If you get a Basic Accessory, gain 10 points.
If you get an Advanced Accessory, gain 20 points.
If you get a Rare Accessory, gain 30 points.
If you're a member of the Circle of Justice, get double points for each boss you defeat.
If you're a member of Fist of Power, get double points for each PC you defeat.
If you're a member of Institute of Lost Marbles, get double points for each puzzle you solve.
When you defeat a PC, you only get points for the single best marble in their collection. For instance, if you beat a PC with one Basic and one Advanced, you get 20 points, not 30.
Movement
A quick reminder, unless you're using an accessory that says otherwise, you must take at least two posts to travel through one thread: this is to allow anyone who might be there to interrupt you.
Threads are based in geographic location: you cannot jump directly from Durem to Aekea, for instance. The first post of every thread includes a link to the places you can go from there; follow these links, and you'll be fine.
If anyone has to log off for whatever reason, assume that they are in super-stealth, super-defense mode. If that person's team moves to a different thread, assume that the logged-off player went with them. Teams, it's up to you to keep in touch so you know where you all are.
Sign-in
You actually read all that? Great. Then know this: this is also our sign-in thread. Before you start RPing, please post your team (and team name, if you have one), your faction, and the thread you will start from. If you do not yet have a team, just post your character name (and, if you have one, your ally's name and username), the faction you're joining, and your starting thread.
arrow If you are with Circle of Justice, you must start in Durem.
arrow If you are with Fist of Power, you must start in Gambino.
arrow If you are with Institute of Lost Marbles, you must start in Aekea.
Multiple groups of people can start in the same thread, but you may not attack anyone until you have moved. If you are attacked, you can of course defend yourself.
If you are one of the teamless, use this opportunity to hook up with the most appropriate characters you can. If you cannot find teammates in this time, you will be given teammates sometime Friday evening. Until you have teammates, you cannot score any points or use your accessory.
For Friday's pre-game, the mark your faction has given you prevents you from leaving the city area. Come Saturday's official game time, that restriction is lifted.
