Welcome all students, teachers, house elves, ghosts, visitors, everyone, to Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! I hope the new year will be a successful one, and I hope you all will have a fun year in this guild! I hope we will all be active, in both your classes and guild events. I also wish that all the house elves stay active so they can become part of the student body as well! Make sure you keep the guild clean and beautiful so we won't have to have another "Operation Scourgify" anytime soon!

Rules Harry Says: "These are the RULES! Follow them or face the rath of Professor Adonis!"Now, like he said, these are the Rules! You must follow them at all times, and if we catch you disobeying any of these once, you will most likely get a warning. If there are repeat offenses, house points could be taken away, or even worse, you may get banned. So watch what you do or post!
Follow Gaia TOS Guild Heads please note that our format is original any copying it will result in you being reported to an admin! NO SPAM OR REPEAT THREADS! Come on people, there's no need to spam! If you are creating a repeat thread, I also consider this spam! We don't need more than one topic on the same thing! Respect the crew members! Do not argue with them if they have deleted your thread or post. There was a reason it was deleted, so there is no need to argue. Keep everything PG-13. You are expected to post! Make at least 5 posts a month, and youre safe. You will be banned if you are gone for 2-3 months and don't notify a mod or post in the Hogsmeade thread.0-4 total posts get banned after one month 5+ posts get two months unsorted with 30+ posts get Three months all sorted students get 4 months of inactiveness before banishment (To check if you're in danger of banishment, check Filtches Filing Cabinet) If you have not been sorted yet, do not type in a house color (any non-house color is fine but we would prefere black or purple) It just makes things easier for all. If you are sorted, you are required to post in your house color. All Heads/Mods, Teachers, and Prefects do have the power to take five points away from you're house if you fail to do this. (Hufflepuff may post in orange as yellow is hard to read) If you ever change your user name or decide to quit, please PM one of the Mods or post it in the Hogsmeade Weekend Thread. Once you are accepted, you're a house elf; GET OVER IT AND STOP COMPLAINING! You have to earn your sorted status by making enough posts. Please don't complain, we want an active guild, we put a lot of time into this guild and we expect a small effort on your part as well. If you are sorted into a house you don't like, don't complain! Just try to earn your house lots of points, and have fun! You may not get in the house you want, and I'm sorry! Treat everyone in this guild the way you wish to be treated!

Mini F.A.Q.Hope this helps some. If you have a question you think should be up here, PLEASE PM it to me. It would be lots of help. Thanks!

Ok, I'm new! And I'm so lost!!! What do I do first? Well, try to read this thread, at least this post. Then introduce yourself. Get to know your fellow guild members. Be a good elf.Gain enough posts, and get sorted next time a sorting week comes up.
"I don't want to be a house elf! I want to be something else! Don't I have ANY other options!? what about that guy from a different school, he's not a house elf. And I think I read somewhere that you can have ghosts? I DON'T WANT TO BE A HOUSE ELF!!! scream " Note from Katie.Being a house elf simply means you're new. Our exchange student discussed his request with Pinkie and I before he joined the guild and has been a loyal member for a while now. As for ghosts; that's just an idea for now. Ghosts are going to be our most active members, to be trusted with putting together our guild's events. So you wouldn't be able to just walk into the guild and be a ghost. You have to earn your position just like everyone else does. I believe our guild's founder, Pinkie, said: "If you expect to walk into Hogwarts on your first day and expect some glorious title, then I don't think you should be here." I'm not saying you shouldn't be here. I'm just saying that it's somewhat rude to expect special treatment when there are many other members who are elves just like you. It feels especially rude to me, because I'm the one who goes through the lists and keeps the member lists organized so the members can enjoy our unique little spot in Gaia. So, if we were to accommodate your request, it would involve a lot more work for me, because once we do it for you, we'll have to do it for anyone who asks... And finally, ask yourself this: Which would you rather the mods discuss; making multiple titles for new members, or finding ways for new members to be more involved? It's your choice...
Ok, fine, then what is there for an elf like me to do? Well, check-out the Giggling Pear. Then go sign-up for elf classes. Then be the best elf you can be, have fun with this new kind of RP character. If you're not really into RPing as an elf and just want to get enough posts to get sorted, a good places to get up your post numbers for the next sorting are Spinner's End, where you can play all sorts of games, and "Heard It In The Hallway," where you can discuss all sorts of Harry Potter and Gaia-related topics. Neither of these forums require you to be a student to participate in any thread or conversation.
Is it ok to create a new thread? Make sure you read all the stickies and announcements in the forum you want to make a thread in before making a new topic. Go ahead and make a thread in the game forum or the discussion forum. If you're unsure where your topic goes, we suggest you ask, but, if you must, you may place it in our main forum and a mod will move it for you. Be warned, however, that he/she might delete it as well. You need permission from the Headmaster to make a thread anywhere else though. Try to help us avoid spam threads.
What on earth is going on? I'm so confused...help... crying The Deputy Headmistress, Katie, has made a thread just to answer your questions. It's >here<
I'm so confused, what house am I in? Where do I get sorted!?! >Sorting Hat< Go to the sorting hat, check to see if you're eligible to be sorted yet, and then answer the questions to Angil, Grey, and Geo Storm's quiz.
If I don't like what house I'm in, can I switch? No, if you were truly meant to be in your favorite house, then you will be. The quiz decides. I'm sorry if you don't like your house, but try to earn it lot of points, and have fun! I believe all houses are equal. There is nothing wrong with being in Hufflepuff (because we all know that most of our members tend to stay away from that house)! Just because Harry was in Gryffindor, that doesn't necessarily make it the best house. There are good people in each house, so you shouldn't feel bad about being in a certain one! (Edit by Katie: And anyone who argues with that can talk to me... stare )
How do I take a class? First, make sure you have been sorted, because house elves aren't allowed to participate in student-classes. Then go pick out some classes in our sub-forum dedicated solely to classrooms, just follow each classes' own joining instructions (usually name/house/year/etc.). Then, review the lessons and start on the assignments.
I can't believe you don't have *blahblahblah* class! How could I become a teacher? Check out post 4. Then, send in your application!
How do you guys play Quidditch? Go check out the Quidditch sticky. And join the Quidditch Guild >here<. It should help ya.
What on earth is this Hogwarts Monthly? The Hogwarts Monthly is our guild's paper, if your interested in reading it, just click on the sticky. If you're interested in contributing your own work or ideas into it, then go check out the Editors Office.
Ok, I'm going to be gone for a while because *insert whatever(trust me, we've heard everything by now) might keep you away from the Guild/Gaia/computer/ect here.* I don't want to be banned, what should I do? Well, (1)if at all possible, post that you'll be gone in the Hogsmeade Weekend Thread >here<. (2)If you don't prefer publicly posting why you'll be gone, PM Professor_Adonis, or another mod. (3)Another way, since there are so many members who go to school with each other in this guild, tell a friend that you might have at school to pass the message. (4)If all else fails and you are banned/demoted: PM Professor_Adonis or another mod and we'll fix you up. We keep track of all the guild member's post numbers and keep the post numbers of all guild members who are banned or demoted. Nothing is really final in this perspective, so don't worry if you leave and find you've been banned or something, we won't be mean to you if you PM us with your situation. 3nodding
What's coming up in the Guild? Go take a look at our school calendar >here<
What are some of the new features coming to the guild? Well, One way to see what the mods are discussing and having an active role in decisions is to check out Suggestions, Feedback, & Questions (S.F.Q.) in the Care-Taker's Office. Another way to find out what's new it to keep an eye on this very thread, it is specifically here to keep you informed.
Can I be a mod? No
Why not? Because you asked me if you could be one. Unless I ask for volunteers, I will never make you a mod if you just ask when you're accepted into the guild.
Well, then can I be a prefect, or a head boy/girl?!? Not if you ask!
Gosh, you're mean! All I wanted was a little leadership! I'm sorry. Not everyone can be a mod/prefect/head. Things don't work like that at Hogwarts. If you expect to walk into Hogwarts on your first day and expect some glorious title, then I don't think you should be here.

Quick Review of the Various Sub-Forums
The Care Taker's OfficeThis forum is specifically here to keep the rest of the guild tidy. Here is where you go to ask questions, complain, make suggestions, and figure out just about anything. If you are confused or lost, you're best bet is going here first. The thread you probably need most in this forum would be the Suggestions, Feedback, & Questions (SFQ) thread. Another important thread in the Office would be the the Hour Glasses, which is the official House Points Count and is also where one would go to either add or subtract points. Around HogwartsThis forum is our role-play forum, and probably our most active forum in the guild. The four common rooms preside in this forum. This forum is also the home of a few other various role-plays and opportunities. A good thread to meet people is The Great Hall; however elves should note that they may only enter the Great Hall on the pretense of cleaning. The home of our elves would the the Giggling Pear, which is the school kitchens. The Halls of LearningThis is the home of all of our classrooms, you are free to roleplay in these threads along with our main RP forum. This is just seperate so members may find their courses with greater ease. This is also the home of the Staff Room. All members should note that you must apply and be aproved to be a teacher. Coming Soon (Unknown Sub-Forum)This forum is going to home to Quiddich, as som many members were unwilling to join our affiliate guild. If you have any opinions about this, I suggest you post them in the S.F.Q. Heard it in the Hallway This is out discussion forum. Want to make a thread about a plot theory or discuss which book is your favorite? This is the forum to be in! Be sure to stop by in Junimaia's Guidelines for Discussion before you do anything else though. Another popular thread would be the Official Chat Off-Topic thread. Which is our only real non-Harry Potter-related thread in the whole guild. Spinner's EndThis is our games forum. Where you can play situation games, word-association games, and much, much more! Just be sure to look at Survivor_Finatic's Spinner's End Message Board before you begin playing. Event ForumEvery month or so, the guild usually has an event of some sort. When this happens, the event will be held here. The title of the forum will often change, as well as an announcement will be made in this thread when an event is being held, so don't worry about checking it constantly. The White TombThis forum holds all our memerable threads from days gone by. It is here mostly for sentamental reflection on all the things we've been through.

House points! Help your house earn points so they can win the House Cup! But be careful because there are also ways that you can loose house points too.

These are some of the various ways you can earn house points:
Doing work in class will be between 5-20 points. (Bleh, just check the point system in each class) Quiditch Games, If your team wins that will be-75 points! Dueling Club! The number of points varies on this. Contests-These'll earn you anywhere from 25 to 100 points! surprised Recruiting members! For every member you recruit you get 10 points!!! (whether they are accepted or not) (Just make sure when they join they say you brought them here! And yes, it must be said in the application, not after the fact.) Making a banner that you can put in your signature will get you 10 points for your house! (Be an avid poster! We are adding a new way to earn house points and prizes; posts:Awards for Students:Most posts this term: 50 points + Donation Letter Also a donation letter will go to the top posts for the term from each house. (that means two letters and the points for the top poster) House with most posts/student this term: 20 points House with most posts this term: 20 points (these will usually be different, trust me) Be an outstanding student! You could earn your house points just by being above and beyond enough for a teacher, mod or prefect to notice you! Be active, show house pride and spirit, help new students or members, and be helpful!

Unfortunately there are also way to lose your house points...
Breaking rules. The amount of points and the possible subject of banishment will depend on the severity of your rule breaking. (Yes, being rude is breaking a rule and so is giving the mods or other leadership members a hard time) Being mean to the House Elves. I realize this could have fit in above but there is nothing I hate more than rudeness to the elves. You can loose up to 50 points from your house. (Yes I hate it that much) Failing to type in your house color. Any Head/Mod, Teacher, Prefect, or even Duelling instructor has the ability to dock 5 points for each offense. Spamming. Even if it's just some sort of advertisements in you're normal posts. If any Head, Teacher, Prefect, or Dueling instructor catches you at it, they can dock 5 points. Blatant repeat offenders will be banned. Going into other common rooms. I know I can't track if you just look but each post in a foreign common room will cost you 20 house points. Exception is for Mods only and only is for a moderation purpose (we can't all keep track of our common rooms sometimes). I know some like to post announcements in the common rooms for classes and such but I'm changing the rule to don't. Post it here in the Entrance Hall. That's what it's here for. Not just major events and mod affairs.

Student Information
Students are one of the largest parts that make up Hogwarts. They do everything a normal student would do, take classes, do homework, put up with the teachers xd , but they also try to earn their house points that can lead to their victory in winning the House Cup, participate in the guild's activities, play Quidditch, test their trivia at the Duelling Club, and all kinds of neat stuff! So, if you want to be a student, it would be very wise to read all the information below. 3nodding 3nodding
Requirements to become a student:
You have to have been in the guild for at least three weeks before the sorting week starts.. You have to have a minimum of 30 posts You must take the Sorting Hat test to find out which house you are in, found here:Sorting Hat
Note: Students are the only ones who can take regular classes! Remember, elves can only take, so far, Cooking and Cleaning for elves.
Certain Student Roles
Head Boy and Head Girl
This will be the highest position after the Mods/Heads and teachers. We currently have neither, but once we gain a few more years, we will start to have them. They are the first highest authority under the mods. I'm not quite sure what kind of authority they will have yet. They will have more authority than the prefects, but I'm not quite sure how much. Prefects
Prefects are the third highest authority after crew status and Head bo and girl. They help keep the guild spam-free, report behavior problems, that sort of thing. Prefects will also have the ability to take away house points for certain offenses. Such offenses are failing post in your house color, being caught in a foreign common room (even if it's just "I read in *house*'s common room that..." Yes, they can dock points for that, you're admiting that you were there), and spamming. However, Mods still have the power to over-rule point-docking punishments. To become a prefect, you have to show some leadership in the guild insome sort of way, or just help out a lot, give us some new ideas, and you must be very active! We only want prefects who we belive ddeserve it. This Term's Prefects are: Gryffindor: Avatar34
Ravenclaw: mystic_emerald
Hufflepuff: Merine Bhool
Slytherin: RayneFlower
Junior Prefects
While we currently don't have any Prefects, we do have two Junior Prefects per House. Thier job is basically to help the Prefects and Head of their House. They will help thier Head and are here to answer any student's questions. Their job is also to promote house activity. Sending PMs to house members and showing house pride. They are 3rd and 4th years. This Term's Junior Prefects are: Gryffindor: Damned to the beginning & Oropher Valandil
Ravenclaw: Alutian & Voluptuous Jon
Hufflepuff: Junimaia & Mellannen
Slytherin: queeneb & Angilwingz
Mauraders
The Mauraders are the ones who help out with the threads listed in the Maurder's Map sticky's in most of the forums. If you are interested in becoming one, please ask in that thread. Quidditch Players
If you are interested in playing Quidditch, look through the Quidditch sticky, and then try out when the try-outs start. You'd better start brushing up on your trivia!

House Elves and Non-Students
Now, you must understand, Hogwart's is not just made up of students! We have many different titles here at Hogwart's. You may not want to be a student. You may want to be a house elf or a teacher instead. We are even coming up with other titles in the guild. But, if you want to be anything, you will have to read this post, as well as the next one. New members need to visit the Giggling Pear in the Around Hogwarts subfoum

House Elf Information
So, who are house elves? Well, house elves are the members of this guild who haven't been sorted. You are a house elf until you meet the requirements to be sorted, and until you log oon during a sorting week to get sorted. House elves cannot particiapte in any student activities. So, what can they do? Well, they can post, write for the Hogwarts Monthly, participate in Guild Activities (there is usally a seperate thread just for elves, however they are not limited to it), they can participate in Elf Classes (Cleaning and Cooking), and they can promote guild loyaty. The idea is that we'd like you to gain some Guild pride before you boast your house pride, since there are Gryfindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin houses in most other Harry Potter guilds. Don't see this as a limitation, see it as an oportunity to RP as a character you wouldn't have ever considered using before! 3nodding
We are now also willing to sort students early under the folloring conditions:
Quote: Early Sorting will be available between weeks 3 and 7 -:Early Sorting Requirements:- *must make original requirements first* make 50 posts (or maybe we could say 60...since that's double the original...I do agree that 50 posts isn't that hard to get to when you have a few hours to kill one day)Two choices:invite 3 people to apply to the guild and mention the person's name in their application(And they must make what the mod reading considers a decent application; no net-speak and more than one sentence, gives a good impression)turn in 3 Pieces of homework
Non-Student Postions in the Guild We have a few members of the guilds who aren't students, but aren't elves either. They simply exsist. Here they are:
o0Pinkie0oPinkie is the Guild's founder and first Headmstress. She didn't know how successful she would be when she started a little thread guild on July 23, 2004, called "The Unofficial Harry Potter Guild of Gaia" with a good friend of hers known as "[Shorty]." After determined saving and generous donations from guild members, she was able to buy a little spot in Barton Town on December 19, 2004, that has grown into this place that we all know and love today! She has had to move onto other things in her life, away from Gaia (if only we could all just stay perfectly comfortable at Hogwarts), leaving her Deputy Headmistress, KTweirdchick, in charge. While we all miss her dearly, especially those who were there since early on, we promise to make sure that this unique little piece of Gaia doesn't die out. She has said that she might make visits to us every now and then, but it wont be the same as when she was here.
Grey_Temerity: Grey was our first ever graduate from Hogwarts. While he has left to find his own way in the wizarding world, we keep in the the guild in honor of our attachment to him. Invictus_88 Invi is visiting from Durmstrang. He is studying tghe school itself. He's a map maker and he is not to be taken lightly or mistreated because of where he went to school. He's a good friends of all of the heads and his word is to be taken as seriously as any moderator's. Hope Maxime Hagrid Hope is Hagrid and Madam Maxime's Daughter. She is about 8 years old and is taking over as Game Keeper's assistant while her mother and father are on a long belated honey moon trip. She currently teaches Care of Magical Creatures. Survivor_Fanatic While he is also a student, Survivor is also the Game Keeper at Spinners End. And by 'Game Keeper' I mean he is in charge of the games that reside in Spinner's End. HogwartsMonthlyRep The HogwartsMonthlyRep is exactly that. She is the representative for the guild's newpaper, the Hogwarts Monthly. She is a mule account. Her character is a cat. She is refered to as "Figgy" who is Mafalda Prewett's pet cat.

Teachers and Moderators
Teaching Information
Teachers are also another big part of this guild. They are the ones who bring the knowledge of the magical world to our young witches and wizards. Everyone must respect them, but if any teacher is slacking off, or haven't post a lesson in a couple of months, stressed stressed , then they will most likely be fired...
If you are interested in becoming a teacher, fill out the application below and post it in the Staff Room for the mod's aproval. (Professor Adonis, KTweirdchick, Miss Love Tantei, Alutian, and Angilwingz )
Hogwart's Teaching Application Hogwarts Teaching Application

Moderater Information
Current Crew Members Professor Adonis (Captain/Headmaster) KTweirdchick (Vice Captain/Hufflepuff Mod) Celestial Archer (Crew/Gryffindor Mod) Reese_Roper (Crew/Ravenclaw Mod) Eowuclya (Crew/Slytherin Mod)
The moderaters in this guild are very important people! Everyone must respect them. They work a lot like the Gaian mods do; they can delete threads and posts, create stickies and announcements, invite and ban people to the guild, that sort of thing.
Here are some of the crew's duties:
Accepting members to the guild!
Just make sure they have the essentials. And make sure they have at least 4 good sentences. I think you all have good judgement, so I trust that you will only accept good join requests. (Oh, and make sure they mention Fred and George! If they don't, they're not coming in!)
Deleting spam threads!
Repeat threads or threads that just waste space in the guild need to be gone! We don't need them messing up our beautiful guild.
Reporting misconduct in the guild!
Someone being disrespectful to other members, spamming, or not following the rules! Or, in some cases, it may get so out of hand that the user needs to be banned. Just PM me with the reason you think they should be banned, and I'll tell you, if I think they should be, to go ahead and ban them.
Updating!!!!
Whether it be adding house points, adding members to the student list who post in the intro sticky, or whatever, if it needs to be updated, go ahead and update it! I don't have the best memory, and I need someone to help me keep everything up to date.
