The creature at the east bridge was massive and lumbering—a shape made of soil formed into a vaguely humanoid form, though its “torso” was massive and round, and its “head” a small orb seated atop. It had neither hands nor feet, merely heavy limbs ending blunt and flat.
It slammed one of those arms into the ground, sending shockwaves out to hit the group attacking it.
All players take 9 damage.
For this round, all magic, as well as physical attacks with Knight weapons, do half damage.

Combat Mechanics
Combat mechanics are straightforward, dice-based, and tied to stage. Each round will be treated as lasting one minute, so most magic attacks should only last for a single round!
HP
First Stage: 50 HP Second Stage: 75 HP Third Stage: 100 HP Fourth Stage: 125 HP
When your HP reaches 50%, characters will experience stronger effects of the Chaos Pollution on Daedalus’s world. They may begin to hallucinate friends or loved ones encouraging them to lay down, rest, give up their burdens, and go quietly into the night. After that point, the lower a character’s HP gets, the worse the hallucinations will be, the more persuasive they might feel, etc.
If your HP reaches 0, you are not knocked out, but your character will be experiencing VERY intense effects from the Chaos! You can choose how this manifests, and I look forward to your collective creativity in whumping your characters. <3
Damage will be carried between battles!
Physical Attacks:
Physical damage includes hitting with fists or weapons, throwing objects, or otherwise attacking the creature without the use of magic.
Cats in Cat Form should roll 1d6 for physical damage First Stage characters and Cats in Human Form should roll 1d8 for physical damage. Second Stage characters and Sailor Cats should roll 1d10 for physical damage Third Stage characters should roll 1d12 for physical damage Fourth Stage characters should roll 2d8 for physical damage
Magical Attacks
Magical attacks are divided into two categories: direct damage and indirect damage. All attack magic will damage the creature, even things that only affect its many, many feelings! Direct damage magic is any magic that specifies either pain sensations or actual damage in its description. Indirect damage magic is magic that targets opponents with emotional or other nonphysical effects--most debuff magic falls under this category! If you’re not sure which category your magic falls under, feel free to contact me privately and I’ll make a judgement call!
Spell attacks are based on the level of the spell, not the level of the character! However, Chibi senshi should subtract one die from their damage.
Mauvian lasers roll first stage direct damage dice. Sailor Cats using attack magic should roll at Super stage.
Direct Damage
First Stage: 10 + 1d6 damage Second Stage: 10 + 2d6 damage Third Stage: 10 + 3d6 damage Fourth Stage: 10 + 4d6 damage
Indirect Damage:
First Stage: 10 + 1d4 damage Second Stage: 10 + 2d4 damage Third Stage: 10 + 3d4 damage Fourth Stage: 10 + 4d4 damage
Magical Healing:
Magical healing is any ability that restores characters in any way, including Transcendent energy sharing. You can use these spells with a dice roll based on their level.
Spell healing is based on the level of the spell, not the level of the character (except in the case of Transcendent energy giving)! However, Chibi senshi should subtract one die from their healing.
First Stage: 10 + 1d4 healing Second Stage: 10 + 2d4 healing Third Stage: 10 + 3d4 healing Fourth Stage: 10 + 4d4 healing
Buff Magic:
Buff magic is any kind of magic that has an effect that boosts allies' abilities. When casting buff magic, roll as follows and quote any targets affected. They will add your total roll to their damage for the round. Chibi Senshi roll one less die!
First Stage: 2d4 Second Stage: 3d4 Third Stage: 4d4 Fourth Stage: 5d4
Shielding Magic:
Depending on the type of shielding magic, it may simply absorb a round's worth of attacks or provide some damage mitigation. Touch base with me individually for shield spells; I'll give you an answer depending on how they're written!
If you feel your magic doesn't fall into any of these categories, hit me up and we'll work something out!
Super DSS Róka of the Undertow HP:75 - 9 = 66 Action: magic's for losers, cool kids roll brawl (melee attacking) Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 6
Róka took the impact of the shockwave as best they could, but they'd still been off-guard from that foreign feeling (and the faint nausea from the air; if more of their gills had been exposed they would've been choking just as much as everyone else), and they had to take a wavering step back and wait for that brief dizziness to leave them alone.
Who all had gone this way? There'd been too many voices, too many bodies, for them to fully keep track. Two - three? - foreigners to Earth, as it seemed, not counting Róka themself; they couldn't quite put names to any of the faces. Encke and Basiluzzo had made it this direction as well, because they were attached at the hip; some senshi girl in sunset colors close enough that she must've known them. A knight or two. A mauvian girl, humanoid. And a spattering of senshi.
It'd need to be enough. Really, it'd be embarrassing if it wasn't, or if someone died, or if --
Rest. You can stop. You can let it go.
It had to be foreign. They would never. They would never. Everyone else could stay at range like cowards, but Róka darted forward into melee and lashed out with a kick; range was so impersonal. They needed to be as close to the thick of it as possible.
This thing didn't really, Cepheus thought, have eyes. Which meant she probably wasn't going to be very useful with her magic, not that she'd thought she would be in the first place, but like plenty of other events she was mostly just here to be here...? So it was probably fine...?
She'd wrenched an ankle a little when that shockwave had hit, and that did hurt, but she honestly did that more often than was probably good for her health. It'd be fine if she gave it a few hours.
There were other options, anyway. Years of extracurriculars and a brief fascination with darts had given her a pretty strong -- and precise -- throwing arm. Cepheus crouched down, businesslike briefly investigating the ground around her, and then popped up with a rock and threw it at the monster with a little huff of breath. She was going to maintain a nice, safe distance, and also if anything got really bad she could probably hide behind Encke and Basiluzzo, given she planned to stick right by them anyway.
This thing wasn't water-based, not completely, so Procyon felt a bit better about his options. The swing from it had him stumbling a bit as he noticed Illyria here as well. It was good his friend was here even if he didn't see Selinur anywhere now.
Staying back and near the mauvian, he knelt down and grabbed a bit of the damaged bridge to throw. More out of habit than thought, he threw it before realizing he should have thrown it with his other arm. It was still something he'd been getting used to, forgetting that even if he had it back it wasn't as strong as his other arm.
"Ah.. shoot." Feeling a bit embarrassed as he watched the rock just barely even tap the thing. He was already looking for the next thing to throw, but he still kept an eye on the thing just in case.

Character Name and journal linkPalmrya Page of Castor HP: 41/50 Action: Physical attack Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 3
Palm had run off after Sig, but had lost him with all that was going on, only to find himself being knocked off his feet by a dirt monster. He groaned standing and looking around to see if he spotted any of his family, but they weren't near him and more importantly this monster was intent on taking them all out.
His weapon was pretty much useless for all things, even keeping his hand warm as they only covered his palms. He realized he was going to have to get up close and personal with the damn dirt monster because otherwise, he wouldnt be much help.
He looked around and grabbed the nearest rock to throw, something that many others seemed to opt to do as well. It would do right now to try a close range attack and risk injuring himself. The monster was already able to hit them through the ground.
Character Name and journal linkIllyria, Mauvian Senshi HP: 75 - 9 = 66 Action: activating her Sailor Mauvian form and physically attacking the monster with her claws Damage Done:5
So many individuals had come to help yet another senshi needing help. Illyria had been assigned to the group that was to take care of the creature at the eastern bridge and her nose twitched for a moment before considered everyone that made up the composition of the group before nimbly dancing on her paws to get closer to Procyon. A flurry of actions later saw Illyria decked out in her human form before she brought out her device that would allow her to maintain a senshi-like form for a brief period of time.
It appeared that the guardian her group was set to face off against was composed mostly of soil and dirt. The shockwave that was a result of the creature slamming its fists into the ground knocked Illyria back before she glared with defiance at the bridge. Clicking on her device Illyria felt the now familiar changes take effect before she stood with her tail lashing the back of her legs. Even as others made a move to attack did she hold herself back for a moment before her claws lengthened and she darted forward to slash at the creature's torso. As expected claws were no match for dirt but even as she backed up did she position herself closer to Procyon.
"Please be careful," was her warning to the senshi she'd stumbled across shortly after his own arrival on Earth, "I wouldn't be happy if something really bad happened to you."
He chuckled quietly, glancing around at everyone before they started to move forward. "Gotta try to be, I think," murmured Encke, a small part of him thankful that the smog and the monsters that they were approaching were having a much different effect on him than Fang's planet had.
There were no hidden urges for hunger when the surroundings were inducing nausea.
Not that they didn't still have them.
Encke tried their best to keep track of everyone around them as they moved to the bridge to the east. They realized just a bit too late that they hadn't fully succeeded in that. Where was Ran? Had he intentionally split off in a different direction? They found themselves looking around to see if they could spot him, but...
Hopefully, he'd be alright. Encke had been mentoring Ran for a while now. He could hold himself up, right?
At least they still had eyes on Cepheus, nearby--
Encke plucked something off the ground that was loosened up by the sudden shockwaves and chucked it in the direction of the monster. Let it get a taste of its own medicine there.
"This monster sure is," Encke offered to Basiluzzo and Cepheus with a snort. "Try not to let it knock you off balance. Don't want to get hit with those blunt things its calling limbs."
Safety in numbers. Right. Nembus' laughter was uneasy, even as her shoulders relaxed once they arrived on Daedalus' planet. There was definitely chaos here. Was it the chaos she was thinking of? No. This she could deal with. Just space chaos, no one who she desperately missed running to hug her or to murder her in cold blood. Or in warm blood. Or in blood, at all, dripping down her arms and...
She shuddered.
Nembus reached out for Phaethon's hand and took it as they moved to the east bridge.
"Well, I can't run now," she offered, awkwardly, squeezing their hand. "But there is clearly chaos here. Just... not the Negaverse." Instead, just earthquake monsters? Maybe? She jumped at the shockwaves and clung a bit harder to Phaethon before she remembered there wasn't exactly anything they could do that Nembus couldn't already. Right. She was fine here.
Well. Sort of. That shockwave hurt a bit...
Nembus let go of Phaethon's hand so she could pick something up and throw it. A default response of hers, considering she never really touched her magic-

Character Name and journal linkSailor Cernunnos HP: 50 - 9 = 41 Action: Reeling, trying to fight back DamageDone: 10 + 4 = 14 damage
Everything happened so quickly. He'd been trying to reach that girl, the one with the horns, but then the cough had caught him before he'd managed anything intelligible. Then out of no where, the ground had shook, knocking him aside like nothing. He'd lost track of her after that, but honestly, he had bigger things to worry about at that point.
The monsters guarding the bridges had decided that now was the time to go on the offensive, before they'd even managed to sort themselves out properly. Cernunnos felt lost in the crowd as the others rushed to return the attack, stumbling away rather than towards the monster closest to him. He'd thought he was prepared for this, but this was nothing like he'd imagined. What was he supposed to do? He wasn't really a fighter, his magic wasn't even damaging, really. It was supposed to be a gift to the people... not something for war.
He watched, at a loss, as his fellows pounded the monster with fist and magic. Maybe... maybe he could try his? It shouldn't hurt anything, at least.
Lifting his hands towards the monster, he murmured softly; "Be Free."
Sailor Scout Attack: Be Free. ** NOTE: This attack has an AOE of ten feet! You are free to get caught in it if you like! **
Cernunnos reaches towards those around him and commands them to 'Be Free'. This AoE can affect anyone within ten feet of them, and lasts roughly 15 seconds. Their mind is immediately released from all mental/emotional/behavioral restraints to allow them to act and think freely. This will affect different characters differently, depending on their basic nature. In effect, they are unrestrained from societal expectations, biases, prejudices, shame, fear, anger, and/or responsibility/duty (at player discretion), to think clearly without the interference of outside forces/emotions. This may result in confusion, sudden decision paralysis, or just no longer having a reason to attack/fight as they are released from whatever was driving them. This may not stop people from fighting, even though they are no longer bound to their reason for doing so, if its simply part of their inherent nature. He can use this up to three times.
Character Name and journal linkSuper Hati of Cu-Sith HP: 66/75 Action: Attacking, second stage magic, and affected by Cernunnos' magic Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 6 = 16
Hati snarled as the dirt beast thing rose up. This couldn't be anything good. He widened his stance, bracing himself against what was to come, but the shockwaves still sent him teetering until he twisted his ankle slightly trying to stay up and moving his feet just a bit wrong. Ugh. He hoped that wouldn't hinder him too much later—this was obviously just the beginning to something, and he doubted it would be quite so simple as a single monster per bridge in the area.
The alien senshi he'd taken in, Cernunnos, Hati's friend, cast his own magic, and Hati suddenly felt free. This monster in front of them was going down one way or another, and if he had to launch himself at the thing once his magic was depleted, he damn well would. Fighting was in his blood.
He scowled at the monster and reached for his magic, taking a deep, calming breath. "Moor Hunt!"
Perhaps he wouldn't even wait until his magic was depleted for this. He'd forgotten it didn't feel nearly as good to cast a spell that didn't have an immediate visual affect—he wanted to destroy that thing with his bare hands. He gave a small laugh, pupils contracting as he focused on the monster and readied himself by getting into a fighting stance, poised to strike at just the right moment to make the thing suffer.
Quote:
A deafening silence settles over everyone within a ten foot radius. Shortly after the silence falls, two deep barks echo through the area, and suddenly every enemy within the radius feels like they are being watched by a large, dangerous creature. The silence can be disorienting; no matter how loud anything is, while the magic is in effect they cannot hear anything but the barks—and maybe the sound of something heavy breathing just behind them. Or worse, breathing on the back of their neck. Paranoia, anxiety and intense fear for the invisible threat are prominent for the duration of the magic, and may persist for longer if the player desires. This attack affects all enemies within fifteen feet and lasts for thirty seconds; it can be used twice per battle.

Super Sailor Daphne HP: 66 Action: Rock at the rock monster Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 8
This monster was made of soil. That was fine. There was nothing about it that made it look like it couldn't be punched, or magicked, or that it wasn't taking any damage from the variety of stones that people seemed to be throwing in its direction.
Although a part of her wondered, as she stumbled over a shockwave caused by one of its steps, if it was even worth it to try with the punching, or the stones. It was a repetitive thought. She'd had this conversation with herself, and she knew it was magic and Chaos getting to her-
It didn't change the fact that it was true that she was tired. It didn't change the fact that it was true that she was here alone, and cracking this monster down into a thousand pieces of rubble and dust wasn't going to do anything to change that.
She scooped up a rock and threw it before she could go too far down that path of thought. Then she took a few steps towards the nearest people, a Uranus knight, a brightly glowing senshi, and another senshi who looked closer to her age, with purple hair.
There was safety in numbers, and she could only hope this wouldn't get bad.
Perhaps the individual attacks weren’t much, but they chipped away at the beast nonetheless. Róka’s[ kick and the barrage of rocks from Procyon, Cepheus, Encke, Nembus, and Daphne made dents in its shell. Illyria’s claws dislodged a clump of dirt, and underneath, there was a brief glimpse—the same slime-oil as the beast in the center.
While Cernunnos and Hati’s magic seemed to have little effect on the thing, it did swivel its “head” towards them, fixing them with a blank stare from strange, dotlike indentations in the dirt that almost. Almost. Served as eyes.
Cracks spindled across its outer shell of dirt, originating from points where more than one rock had struck and spiderwebbing out over the entire dirt carapace.
It was still for a moment, as if it simply could not believe the audacity of these things, throwing rocks at it and such.
And then it roared.
Clods of dirt went flying, and as they struck Encke, Cernunnos, Hati, Nembus, and Daphne, those hit would taste metal—as if there was something in that soil that was awful and poison.
Encke, Cernunnos, Hati, Nembus, and Daphne take 9 damage and taste poison metal.
For this round, the boss’s outer shell has cracked, and all magic does damage normally!

Character Name and journal linkIllyria, Mauvian Senshi HP: 66 Action: Using magical attack against the creature Damage Done:10 + 8= 18 Boss HP: 271/350
The effect of claws shredding at the creature's torso did little else than to dislodge clumps of material but it was a start. Illyria ducked out of the way of the creature's retaliatory strike before casting her gaze around to make note of how everyone seemed to be faring. Her eyes warily scanned the bridge and the beast guarding it before she rolled her shoulders. Obviously her claws wouldn't cut it in this scenario. Thinking back to her practice of her magic Illyria sighed before inching a little closer to the guardian of the bridge before even wondering if the creature would be affected by pollen. Oh well there was no time like the present to find out. Cupping her hands together Illyria summoned the softball sized packet of pure pollen before moving in closer to the creature. Once in acceptable range Illyria launched her attack.
Quote:
Pollen Bomb - Bringing her hands together Illyria calls out her attack. Upon speaking the attack a glowing sphere gathers in her cupped hands. As soon as the sphere is as large as a softball in size Illyria will lob the sphere at the nearest opponent. If the sphere makes any contact with the target the sphere will burst into a cloud of pure orchid pollen. (normally orchid pollen is in 'packets' but this is pure pollen) ...
Exposure to the pollen bomb could result in common symptoms of hay fever: (( Sneezing: Itchy nose, eyes, ears, and mouth: Red and watery eyes and Swelling around the eyes ))
Duration of exposure symptoms: 15 seconds (although players could choose to be affected longer if they wish to be) Area of attack: opponent must be within 6 feet of Illyria to be affected the most. Uses: Twice per battle
Crisium Page of the Moon HP: 41/50 Action: He's chucking rocks at it bc he HAS NO MAGIC OR WEAPON T _ T Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 1d8 = 2 Boss HP: 269/350
The shock wave rocked him and Crisium stumbled a little.
Soil monsters. Better than something with acid or-- wait not, there was acid too. Okay. That probably wasn't a great thing. Crisium swallowed thickly and started looking around for something, anything to throw or hit the monster with. A branch would be useful or--
"Ah ha! Rocks!" he cheered, darting over to a bunch of rocks and loose stones. He'd yet to gain any magic or even a more useful weapon slash relic to fight with, and he really, really didn't want to get up close and personal with that thing. Not just because he'd probably get smashed into the ground like a twig.
Look, the dirt would get everywhere and he really didn't want that right now!
Crisium started chucking rocks at the monster. Most of them missed except for like two and he sighed.
Oh dear.
