Running -- When Linnea wanted to get away from the lessons and the gossip and her senshi duties, she sneaked out into the fields of her world and she ran. The feeling of freedom was the best, and the endorphins that came after was a nice bonus. On Earth, running continues to be a way that Linnea can clear her head. She prefers shorter distance runs to long ones, running through nice scenery to running on a track or treadmill, and running with others to running alone, but she'll take what she can get as long as she gets to move.

Hand to Hand Training
-- This is something that Linnea has picked up strictly since coming to Earth. It never would have been acceptable in her old life, but it turns out that given half a chance, Linnea likes to fight. Linnea really, really likes to fight. She likes the adrenaline. She likes feeling strong. She wants to get better at it, so she trains and takes classes. She used to dance, so any moves that build on those skills are preferred. Kickboxing is probably her favorite so far, but she doesn't stick to just one discipline or martial art. Rather, she dabbles in many of them, wanting to pick up as many techniques as possible before she finds one to really focus on.

Music -- As the main person on her world responsible for interacting with offworld ambassadors, Linnea needed to be pleasant and entertaining. She was put into music lessons shortly after she awakened. At first she resented it and found it boring, but as she grew older and became more comfortable in her role as senshi, she also began to appreciate music more and more, although she never admitted it back then. Now, though, she finds herself keeping up with her music practice to remind herself of home. It's nostalgic, and something calming in the midst of the chaos her life has turned into. The instrument she used to play was more of a lute, and she's slowly transitioning to acoustic guitar and developing and interest in some of the smaller harps. She also sings.


Virtues:

Warm-Hearted -- At her core, Linnea has a warm, caring soul. She laughs loudly. She hugs often. She loves fully in a nurturing, acts-of-service sort of way that makes her especially good with children and animals. She's selective with her friends but extremely loyal to the ones she's chosen. She'll do big and small things to make sure that they're taken care of. She's the type who would send someone a card if they seem down, or show up with soup if they're sick, or help them get ready for a big event while showing them all the cool new Earth music she found.

Expressive -- Linnea isn't a hard person to read. It wasn't always ideal in her role as diplomat, but it's probably better for her interpersonal relationships. There's no need to wonder what she's really thinking. When she's happy, she smiles and laughs. When she gets annoyed, she gets prickly, but she's also pretty good about telling people what exactly it was that they did to upset her. If she loves you, she'll tell you with her actions and show you with her words. If she doesn't trust someone, they'll know that, too. She might not be as open about her thoughts with people outside her circle, but at least they'll generally know that they're not getting the full picture.

Decisive -- Linnea knows what she wants. If she's ever put into a new situation where she doesn't, she can put the pieces together and figure it out pretty easily. As a rule, she doesn't waffle. She can change her mind if presented with new information, but she's not prone to decision anxiety or getting caught up on opportunity cost. This goes for big decisions and small ones. She's good to have around if you need to pick a restaurant, but she also generally has ideas of what she wants to do in the bigger picture.

Flaws:


Cold-Shelled
-- The asteroid Daphne stayed out of trouble by remaining neutral rather than forming strong alliances, and so Linnea's teenage were spend interacting mainly with ambassadors that she was taught to keep at arm's length. This has carried over somewhat into the present day. Linnea does not walk around wanting everyone she meets to be her best friend. Her inner circle gets to see her warmer, softer side, but to others, she is distant, secretive, and a bit cool. It takes time and effort to break through and see the more genuine part of her, especially because the "recent" events on her world have shocked her and made her close in even farther.

Contrary -- Linnea does not like being told what to do. Linnea really, really does not like to be told what to do. She should be the one making decisions about her own life, not someone else. The thing is, even if the person who's trying to tell her what to do is right, and well meaning, and everything, she gets terribly cranky and contrary about it. If she gets a direct order, she'll probably do something completely different, just to prove that she can. Pressuring her into something is a good way to get her to refuse and procrastinate. Even just suggestions can get her annoyed, sometimes.

Impatient -- Linnea hates waiting around. This isn't some cultural thing. Life on Daphne was fairly slow-paced and based around delayed gratification, and Linnea hated it back then, too. She was slowly starting getting a bit better about it when everything's falling apart, and now she's back to square one. She wants to learn new skills now. She wants to save her world now. That failing, she wants pretty distractions now. She'd not great at planning long term or breaking things down into small steps, and when she is inevitably forced to wait, she gets restless and frustrated.


PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION


Eyes: Her eyes are pale blue, and almond shaped, a bit catlike.

Hair: Her hair is light ash brown with darker streaks, and it falls a bit past her shoulders. She's always liked playing with hair styles and that's carried over to her time on Earth. It's usually tied up somehow.

Face: Roundish face shape, with a pointy nose and visible cheekbones.

Skin Tone: Pale skin that blushes very easily. She keeps her markings even in human form.

Body Type: 5'2", currently unhealthily thin from stasis.

Clothes: She tends towards soft pastel colors and soft cuts. She likes swishy skirts, and bell sleeves, and those transparent robes. She often ends up looking a bit like a princess. She even goes for looser styles in her active wear.

Sailor Scout Attack:
Kinship

Daphne calls out the name of her attack with her arms outstretched towards a target within ten feet. The target's eyes glow lavender and they feel a sense of kinship with Daphne. This can manifest as her mannerisms or appearance reminding them of a specific family member or loved one, but in all cases targets feel warm inside looking at her, like Daphne is someone to be cherished. These effects lessen somewhat if she attacks them physically while the magic is active. The effects last 30 seconds and she can use this attack three times per battle.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Deep Kinship

Daphne calls out the name of her attack with her arms outstretched towards a target within ten feet. The target's eyes glow lavender and they feel a sense of deep kinship with Daphne. At this stage, there might be a illusory shift in Daphne's facial features, so that she looks very reminiscent of a target's loved one, but in all cases targets feel warm inside looking at her, like Daphne is someone to be cherished and protected, certainly not attacked. These effects lessen somewhat if she attacks them physically while the magic is active. The effects last 35 seconds and she can use this attack twice per battle.

Eternal Sailor Attack: Bonds of Kinship

Daphne calls the name of her attack, and her own eyes glow lavender. For the duration of the attack, anything done to Daphne will be felt by the person doing it in equal intensity. If she is physically attacked, they will feel pain. If she is hit by boost magic, the other person will also get a boost. The magic fades after 45 seconds, but wounds inflicted may remain at player discretion. She can use this attack once per battle.



Physical Features:


Daphne has slit pupils, giving her good vision in low-light situations, but only while on her homeworld.

She has a spotted tail that swishes when she gets emotional, and additional spots on her arms and hips.

Backstory/History:

Daphne was not the harshest of worlds by any means, but it was a world with somewhat limited resources. The sun was hot above the colorful savannas, and water was precious. After a brief stint of fighting for the land on the banks of the few lakes and rivers, the Daphnean people realized that to best survive, they would have to compromise, share, and work together.

It worked. They lived in peace and harmony for centuries.

By the time of the Silver Millennium, Daphne was doing very well for itself. The strong sunlight was harvested for powerful renewable energy. The communities on the waterfronts had grown into cities that were constructed in harmony with nature. Edible and ornamental plants often grew on top of, around, and inside the buildings. Permaculture farms were a part of every neighborhood. Water was still rationed somewhat but it was carefully shared and recycled. Hard labor was generally unnecessary. Education and the arts were flourishing.

Daphneans had a strong community with each other, but where fairly aloof when it came to off world relationships. Rather than having strong allies, they remained neutral and kept to their own affairs. They did entertain off world visitors and diplomats occasionally, though, and it was the senshi's job to interact with them.

Linnea was awakened as Sailor Daphne at the age of ten. She was ripped away from her life of climbing trees and running through the fields in order to learn entertainment and politics.

She hated it. She ran away, twice. She dragged her feet in lessons. She pulled pranks. She rebelled in a hundred other little ways, and a few big ones.

Then, time passed, and she actually met some of the people she was meant to be hosting. They were interesting, and she was curious about them. Slowly, she began to pay more attention in her lessons, and in return she was allowed into more meetings.

By the time she was nineteen, she was beginning to settle fully into her role.

That was when everything fell apart.

Daphne was one of the first planets hit by Chaos. They did not have time to prepare. Worse, the Chaos attacked the thing that was most precious to them. It attacked their relationships with each other.

Old arguments that had sprung up with the lack of anything else to fight about became stronger and more heated from day to day. Domestic violence, previously unheard of, became a common problem. Crime rose. The people panicked, Chaos working them into a farther frenzy.

They blamed each other.

Within a few months, it had escalated into war.

One night, Sailor Daphne found herself fleeing her rooms for the third time. Two of the factions had thought to come after her, to capture her to use her powers for their own gain. When they each saw that another faction had the same idea, they changed their plan to killing her before she could fall into the hands of somebody else.

Daphne was fast, but she could not run forever. As she streaked across the savanna, she could hear her pursuers coming upon her. In that moment, she reached out for her bond with her world. She cried out for protection.

The world answered. A tree grew up around her within a moment, encasing her body in bark and wood.

Her pursuers watched and assumed that this had killed her. Without her there as a target, they turned their rage on each other, and there was a bloodbath at the base of Daphne's haven. There were no survivors to tell the rest of the people what had happened to her.

Daphne did not die. She was protected, as she had asked to be. She was protected as the wars raged, and then dwindled to skirmishes as most of the population died out. It protected her as Chaos infected the land and corrupted the waters. It protected her as the people grew aggressive again, in their desperation, and as the last of the population wiped itself out.

She was protected from the passage of time, and a thousand years of loneliness and sorrow. Her planet clung to her against the Chaos, in a last bit of resistance.

Her tree was slowly failing, though. It could not protect her for much longer. Her stasis was failing, and the waking Sailor Daphne saw the glimmer of light from Archideus and allowed it to pull her to Earth.
