The end of the year is always a busy time, and this year Destiny City is no different! Thankfully, the city seems to have things under control--for the most part. You can't always guarantee a peaceful Winter Holiday...but at least things will be interesting! Especially because Destiny City has some new arrivals...This year, we are taking a very relaxed approach to our Winter Holiday Event! There are no time sensitive ORPs and you can play mini-games and respond to prompts between now and the end of the event. Prompts are open for both civilian and powered characters. New players can get a free non-arted civilian character and can find the information for how to do so here. We have a lot of opportunities to earn prizes--including our Raffle, a Mini Game, and an Individual Participation Rewards! We are also hosting a Concept Contest, and a Newbie Raffle! Roleplay Opportunities will be open from now until 8 PM EST on Sunday, January 2nd. Information about what the requirements to claim a prize, as well as a list of prizes, can be found below.

Rules and Information Prompts will take place around Destiny City and participation is completely optional! You do not have to participate in any of these RPs unless you want to, and you will not miss any meta opportunities by skipping it. Participation is the only way to earn raffle tickets or other event related prizes, however!
Completing certain prompts will yield tickets for our raffle; a list of Ticket Opportunities can be found below, as well as our current list of raffle prizes!
Characters can participate as powered or civilian; these prompts are free to play with. You may choose to use the prompt as inspiration for a roleplay; it does not need to follow the prompt exactly but it must be clearly inspired by or related to it in some way!
Roleplay opportunities will only be open from now until ~8pm EST on January 2nd. The raffle will be rolled after a ticket list is compiled and winners will have 72 hours to contact the shop mule, In the Name of the Mule, with their preference list. Anyone who does not respond within 72 hours will forfeit their slot.
Players can only win one arted character for the duration of the event; if you win a character during the Concept Contest, you cannot also win one through the raffle.
Because Moon Knights and Deep Space Senshi are completely new, anyone can enter in the Concept Contest or Raffle regardless of Character Cap limit. This is the only time players will be able to do so; if a character is won, it will be added to a player's total point count. By January 1st the Cap to get new characters will be 20 points; by March it will drop to 15. For information on Character Cap limitations , please see this thread.
Mini-Games will have rules unique to the game; please see those threads for their specific information!

Ticket Opportunities
Tickets can only be earned through Event Roleplays or Event Prompts, so you must be active in the shop if you are interested in participating in the raffle! There will be no ORPs this year so tickets can only be earned by completing prompts.
This raffle has a ticket cap! You can participate in writing for as many prompts as you like, but no player can claim more than five tickets towards the raffle. If you want to write for a prompt for requirements, or just for fun, that’s fine! But this year we are limiting each player to five tickets only. There will be plenty of opportunities to earn tickets, with a variety of events and prompts--this way, everyone has a chance to pick and choose what they want to participate in instead of trying to force themselves to respond to everything to earn raffle tickets!
To claim a ticket, you will need to fill out the following code and post it in this thread! I AM CLAIMING A TICKET Link to thread: [link to the thread you are claiming for; if you are responding to a prompt, make sure you indicate which prompt you are responding to either in this form or the thread!] PromptsYou can repeat prompts multiple times and still claim a raffle ticket for them as long as they have 500 words written to each thread! Remember, RP or solos only needs to be inspired by the prompt; they can reference something that the prompt describes or only use a part of the prompt. All prompt responses must be posted in the Mini-Event subforum and can be written as a solo, a regular, or a battle (if applicable!). These should be labelled [Holiday-S], [Holiday-R], or [Holiday-B]. To receive a raffle ticket for a prompt, you must write at least five hundred words and should include the prompt either in your first post or in the code you post in this thread to claim a ticket. The roleplay does not have to be finished in order to claim a ticket, but it will need to be finished before it can be used for growth requirements. While these events are written so that you only need a civilian to participate, you can play a powered character! In addition to a few new prompts for this year, we are recycling some prompts from previous years so characters who didn't get to participate before can experience them now! Recycled Prompts:Quote: Prompt 1 (Mysterious Carolers): Caroling has been a tradition for years, so it’s not really unusual when you hear a soft chorus from outside. What is unusual is that it’s three in the morning, and the moment they start singing you feel a chill in the air. Maybe it’s a holiday song, maybe it’s not, but whatever it is it’s a song you know before--from this life? From another?--and something about this version makes you go cold. If you move to the window, you will find no carolers, but the song is loud enough that you know you should be able to see them. They sing one song, and then there is silence. An eerie chill lingers, and your dreams are haunted by strange voices. You’ll probably never be able to hear that song again without feeling a chill. Quote: Prompt 2 (Paint the Night Sky): Destiny City has already had its fair share of snowfall but for the past week it’s just been constant. There hasn’t been a clear sky in days, and even when it’s not snowing it’s still too cloudy to see anything. Finally, one night, the clouds have finally thinned--only to reveal something more surprising than the suddenly good weather. A glorious display of colorful light dances over Destiny City. Auroras are uncommon in this area, but it’s something unique to see. Especially because it almost seems like the colors blend like watercolors, and look like they’re deliberately weaving around each other. Quote: Prompt 3 (Drink Yourself Silly): Pop up shops are a dime a dozen in Destiny City this time of year, and for as much weirdness as they cause, there’s still something alluring about them. Walking through the city, you happen to come across one that seems particularly cozy and is decorated in such a way that you just know they’re trustworthy. The menu only has a few items but there’s something for everyone. Maybe it’s hot chocolate, maybe it’s coffee, maybe it’s some chilly winter sweet--whatever it is, it’s delicious. And magic, but you didn’t know that when you ordered it. It started with an itch at the back of your throat, but what happened after that was anyone’s game. Some of the drinks turn into a tickle in your nose, and now you’re suddenly sneezing snowflakes for the next hour. Maybe you finish your drink and you suddenly feel warm--like you’re in the middle of summer. (Do you even need your coat? It’s so hot! --Or is that a fever?) Or, the itch turns into something else--and suddenly you feel the urge to sing. It’s compulsive, you can’t help yourself, you must sing. It’s like you’ve forgotten how to communicate in any other way. It fades an hour after you finish the drink, but still... Quote: Prompt 4 (Fear and Feathers): The moon is bright tonight and reflects off of the snowy ground, illuminating everything with an ethereal glow. Destiny City feels almost safe, even at night. The fresh fallen snow seems undisturbed and brings a sense of peace. Only, nothing is ever as good as it seems, and there’s something eerie about it. After a while, it feels like someone--or something--is watching you. In the shadows of the trees, a set of milky eyes watches. Whatever it is, it’s tall and bulky. If you walk quickly, you feel it follow you but once you leave the line of trees, it disappears. If you try to approach it, a great beast will screech at you: a six foot tall snowy white owl takes flight. It may tackle or claw at you, depending on how you approach it, but it will always take flight and disappear in the night. If you choose to attack it, for the next few nights any time you look out your window you will see glowing eyes in the distance--or worse, hear it scratching to get in. Eventually, the temperature rises and the visits stop. For now. Note: The owl is not a youma but can be used as a battle requirement for a character. It can only be used as a battle if there are two powered characters involved; you cannot write a solo and count this as a battle, and your character must be powered to count this for a battle. If you repeat the prompt with the same character, only one will count for a battle requirement. The owl will not appear to have any magical abilities and seems to simply be a very large, aggressive owl. Quote: Prompt 5 (Ice Bath): Rainfall is rare in Destiny City during Winter; there have been a few light showers between the occasional snow but it’s never been enough to be significant. In some places, it’s just enough for a thin layer of ice to cover the ground and make it a little slippery, but ultimately it’s not enough to worry about. In an inconspicuous place in town, you step into one of these icy puddles and the thin layer of ice shatters. The hole itself seems maybe three feet wide and if you’ve ever been in the area before you know it’s just a pothole a few inches deep at most. Except, when the ice shatters, you fall, plummeting into it as if it were a lake of icy water. It’s pitch black around you and only pale blue lights shimmer above you. The darkness is never ending and you can’t make out the details of anything except the shrinking hole above you. Maybe you remember how to swim and pull yourself out, maybe you black out and feel someone else pulling you out--either way, your frozen, soaking body is pulled from the puddle. The chill is immense, but if you look at the hole after being pulled out, all you can see is the ground below. There’s no sign that what you just experienced is real--except for the fact that you’re still soaking wet. Quote: Prompt 6 (Mysterious Mail): The mail is always bad this time of year, but it seems like something's gone a little extra wrong. You’ve received something that’s not quite right. Maybe it’s a box that looks like it’s from a completely different era, wrapped in brown paper and tied with dark twine. The box has scuffs and scrapes and a yellowed name tag--with your name and address on it. There is no return address and no indication where it came from. If you open it up you will find some sort of timeless item that feels as though it is easily decades old. It may not be particularly valuable, but this item seems to have been lost to time--and somehow ended up in your possession. Any time you look at it you are filled with the same sensation of timelessness. Maybe it’s an old letter with no return address, no name on it; it's impossible to tell who it is from or how it got there, given that it might have arrived in your mailbox, your front door, or maybe it even just showed up inside your house. If you open it, the letter is dated from decades ago and contains some surprising information; it is a letter lost to time and contains some secret. The content of the letter is up to the player; it might contain a confession of love, an admission of guilt, the secret of some crime--no matter what the letter contains, it leaves you with news to reflect on. Do you try to seek out anyone mentioned in the letter? Do you investigate or try to hand the letter over to someone else? Does the content of the letter reflect your life in some way? ...Do you have to worry about someone breaking into your house to leave strangely coded messages? Maybe you’ve gotten both and really need to phone up the post office to see what’s going on. Quote: Prompt 7 (Snowbunnies): Winter seems to bring out the cutest of all rodents; this isn’t the first time that small, white rabbits have infested Destiny City. They’re small, rarely larger than a guinea pig, and have large eyes and wiggling noses. They are always pure white and seem to show up whenever there’s snow. They aren't menacing or evil, they're just everywhere. They seem strangely domesticated; they are sweet, curious, and friendly creatures that will eat anything you give them. They always seem cold to the touch, and when they shake, little snowflakes sprinkle off of them. While they seem to be social creatures who seem to appreciate anything warm and will cuddle up to steal body heat, they are too skittish and fast to be kept for pets. They can show up just about anywhere, either alone or--often--in pairs. They tend to wander off on their own without any trouble, but if you surprise them or try to catch or hurt them, they may bite. Their little teeth are enough to break skin, but after one bite they run away. The bite itself isn’t bad, but the effects are a bit unpleasant: for roughly two days after the bite, the injury is cold and the victim will feel random, cold, shooting pains. Their core body temperature will drop and they will often be sent into random fits of shivering. No medicine seems to help, and no amounts of blankets or hot baths can soothe the chill. You're just going to have to deal with it and hope it gets better… Most experiences with the bunnies are perfectly pleasant, you just have to worry about them burrowing. There are holes peppering Destiny City, and with the fresh fallen snow it can be impossible to tell where they are hiding. The holes range from small holes to several feet deep, so can be a minor inconvenience to a potential hazard. On the bright side, sometimes you wind up covered in bunnies looking for warmth from their sudden guest. On the other hand, there are a rising number of trips to the hospital for twists and sprains. The bunnies always leave with the snow, so best to enjoy them--or avoid them--for as long as you can. New Prompts:Quote: Prompt 8 (Mouse in the House): It’s snowing outside, and it’s going to keep snowing--all night long. They're not calling it a blizzard but it sure does feel like one. The power seems like it’ll stay on, which is good because it’s so cold outside. You’re safe and warm--but you’re not alone. At first, you might not notice anything. Maybe you see something move out of the corner of your eye, or hear something in the other room. It doesn’t take long to find the culprit: a mouse. A mouse is sharing your living space, your shelter from the storm. On one hand, you don’t know where it’s been. On the other hand, it’s freezing outside, and it has big, sweet eyes. Do you have the heart to kick anything out in this weather? ...Do you really want that thing running around your place unchecked? Quote: Prompt 9 (Illuminating Conversation): This time of year there are lights hanging everywhere. They come in different colors, different styles, different patterns of illumination. You might not remember when it started, but when you looked at a display, you noticed the lights seemed to be flashing in a specific pattern. When you look away, you might be able to see out of the corner of your eye that they return to normal--but any time you look at them, they repeat the same unique sequence. It’s not just one light, either; almost everywhere you go you can find some light repeating the pattern. Is something trying to send you a message? Could it be Morse Code, or something else? A coincidence? Either way, you can’t seem to decipher the message and it’s getting to you. Especially because no one else seems to notice it. Quote: Prompt 10 (Runaway Reindeer): Someone thought it would be a good idea to get real reindeer to pet while visiting Santa, and someone should have considered that might be a bad idea. No one knows how they snuck out, but one by one they disappeared–and now they’re wreaking havoc on Destiny City. Or, so the reports say. The reindeer have been spotted eating everything, running in front of cars, chasing people down. It’s strange, almost as if they are possessed. They’re aggressive and hostile and not having any of this holiday nonsense. Are all reindeer like this? …Or have you run into a very aggressive youma masquerading as one? Note: If you use this for a powered battle prompt, it does not count for the ‘one youma battle per growth’ ; this is a special prompt where the creature will attack anyone. It can only be used as a battle if there are two powered characters involved; you cannot write a solo and count this as a battle, and your character must be powered to count this for a battle. The reindeer will not respond to any commands and cannot be destroyed; it will always run away before it can be defeated. Quote: Prompt 11 (Marshmallow Snow): Fresh-fallen snow coats Destiny City. It’s pristine and crisp, and it crunches as you walk through it. It may be a few inches deep, but it doesn’t seem to go above your calves when walking. At first, it’s easy enough to walk through, but gradually you realize that it’s getting harder to move. Every step you take feels like the snow is pulling you back in, and if you get a good look you might realize that sticky white fluff is clinging to you. The more you walk, the more it pulls, until you’re almost completely stuck. Something about the snow smells oddly sweet, and the tacky, marshmallow-like snow seems like it’s suddenly become a prison. The more you try to break free, the stickier it gets, and you’d better hope you don’t fall down. The more you struggle the harder it is to escape, but if you manage to stay still for a few minutes, the marshmallow will freeze and crystallize. When you move again, the snow will turn into a powdery dust and you can break free easily. The only good thing about this is that you won’t starve if you get trapped–the snow tastes just like marshmallows.

Individual Participation RewardsSometimes luck isn’t on anyone’s side; this prize rewards participation without any competitive nature! For every five roleplays or solos that reach 500 words, a player can claim one Growth Item or one IC RP item from our regular pool of one time use IC Items, from our current Limited Edition IC RP Item Pool, or any item from a previous Limited Edition IC RP Item Pool (with the exception of any items that were given out as special/exclusive rewards in certain RPs). You cannot claim an IC RP Item or any Item that was winnable in a player run event, however you have access to any IC RP Item given out in a similar staff run event. You can claim up to three rewards through this method! If you participate in ten roleplays or solos that reach 500 words, you will have the option to claim one permanent accessory or enhancement in place of one Growth Item/IC RP Item! For example, if you do fifteen roleplays or solos, you might claim two one time use IC RP Items and one permanent accessory, or you could claim three growth items, or one growth item, one enhancement, and one IC RP Item. You can mix and match what you would like to claim as long as you have the RPs to support it! These roleplays or solos can come from ORPs, prompts, or mini games; you can repeat prompts to count for this! Additionally, any roleplays that are started in the mini-event subforum but do not utilize a prompt may also be counted towards Individual Participation Prize rewards! RPs done without utilizing a specific shop prompt cannot be used to claim a ticket, but each non-prompt based RP can count for this prize instead. RPs do not have to be finished before the month ends, but we will be keeping our eyes on roleplays to make sure they are moving forward; we want to reward players for their activity, but if roleplays are being started and only played to word count without actually finishing, this will negatively impact how we choose to release more permanent accessories to the shop. Please try to finish all of the roleplays you start! To claim these rewards (growth items, one time use items or permanent accessories) you will need to use the following form and post in this thread: I would like to turn in (#) roleplays for a reward! link Trading for: (What are you claiming? If you are claiming for an RP Item but don't know which one yet, just say 'IC RP Item/Enhancement/Permanent RP Item' ; you can PM the mule to claim your item if you need more time)

Please also remember to edit your claim into your Growth Item Log or your IC RP Item Log log! You cannot gift this item to anyone else! This is for you, and you alone! You will have up until 11:59 PM (PST) on Sunday, January 2nd to claim for Individual Participation Prizes! Roleplays must be started between now and then but. They do not need to be finished to count towards Individual Participation Prizes, but they must have at least 500 words posted for you to claim them. Any roleplay started until the deadline can be used to earn Individual Participation Prizes; they do not have to be based on Holiday prompts.
