Class: Warrior
Personality: Crocus is a cut and dry warrior. A hard worker, he puts everything in the skills he excels at so he can be even better. As a result, the things he is proud about come off in a sense of arrogance that is hard to stomach at times. He knows his skills and he doesn't hesitate to step up and show them off. So far, he hasn't failed, being a naturally skilled warrior, and as a result he really never has been put in his place.
His focus on himself and growth has resulted in a lack of empathy and sensitivity to others. Being a male-bloomed in a female race, he doesn't have the relationship or family growing up to help him develop the desire or need to befriend and protect others, and as a result he lacks the skill or desire to putter around the emotional needs of those he comes across. He isn't malicious, simply straightforward without concern of feelings involved.
Additionally, he is quite the pragmatic individual. He approaches situations like he would a battle, and as a result focuses on the sensible logic instead of the what-ifs. He doesn't quite have the mindset of a chess player, thinking movements ahead, but his logic is sound and he does well enough when faced with a challenge. At the end of the day, the facts are clear and the what-ifs simply are something to be concerned about another day.
Crocus is the type who may rub others the wrong way, be it his racial background, his desire to be the best and flaunt it as fact, or simply his lack of desire to cater to the needs of those around him. Eventually, he may find one worth fighting for, to change and evolve his ways, but currently he is more concerned about his future as a warrior instead of a future as a family.
Additionally, in terms of fighting and upsetting others, he is smart enough to approach a fight he can control, and not one to pick them with those he logically can deduce outweighs him. But if he fights someone to put them in their place, he's willing to do so unapologetically, and uncaring of any long-term consequences.
Growth: ....
History: Dianthus was young when she decided to join the extremists. Her mother was going, and as an impressionable child, it was easy to go along as well. It would take many years for her to understand the true impact of that decision. Growing up, she was about 9 when the first Elarian blooms appeared. That moment, her entire world changed. The Extremist Matron stressed the importance of this new future where all that mattered were these new blooms.
Dianthus suddenly felt like her importance no longer mattered to the sisterhood. As she continued to grow up, she became detached from the young Elaria. Her mother eventually asked for her own blooms, and Dianthus was faced with the reality that her own sisters would soon play more importance than her reality.
It was at this time, at the age of 14, she began to sneak out to the world around the camp. She explored the lands and spied on the Earthlings, curious and bored enough to let them live and not interact as her Extremist family might like. As a result, her observations soon resulted in her meeting some of these Earthlings and befriending them.
At the age of 21, when offered the opportunity to leave the camp and sail across the sea, Dianthus agreed but never made it to the boat. Instead, she fled to a settlement north to see if she could make a name for herself and begin the arduous process of traveling to the mainland.
During this time, she met Craytis, a Yaeli youth a few years younger than her. Craytis was a nervous thing, and it took many moons for Dianthus to eventually befriend her enough for them both to see potential romance. Dianthus found a place to protect the petite Earthling woman, who expressed to the Yaeli how much she wished to travel to the mainland and research the beasts of the lands.
Eventually, the two agreed that they had mutual benefit to travel, with Dianthus protecting Craytis who would study and tame the beasts. Together, they traveled through Tendaji, becoming closer until they eventually became lovers. It was a beautiful relationship, though some strain was there because Craytis wanted children and knew she couldn't with Dianthus.
However, when Dianthus was ready for a family as well, she disclosed the opportunity to possibly return to Aisha and pray for a family. Excited, the two agreed to try it out and see what they could do, and traveled to the Isles. Dianthus had to plead her case, which took months before they could finally make way to the great tree, and after a short period of time they were blessed with a single, dark bloom.
Many sisters were uncertain, but the mystic assured the two mothers that the dark bloom was healthy and soon enough, Crocus was bloomed.
As they traveled, the two mothers realized they would need to settle with their son and raise him right. So they found a home in Jauhar, secluded but close enough to some of the other Aishan settlements, and raised Crocus to be a warrior and an animal lover. Crocus grew up loved and supported by his parents, and excelled in his fighting and studies. As a result, he was groomed further to be confident and assertive, resulting in a personality that had a few more negatives than good.
That being said, he loved his mothers and would do anything for them, just as they ensured he would grow up loved no matter his unique bloodline.
