Solo or RP Format Counts as 5 RP growth Points Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7There are many superstitions and beliefs in Tendaji, often originating from the culture and gods of each individual region. Wherever one goes, they might find a new routine or practice based on the region they are in. The rare celestial event is seen as a blessing, and this one just so happens to have appeared right when the New Year began. Oh what luck and what a great omen - this must be a sign of good fortune for the year to come. [ How does your character react to the meteor shower that is lighting up the sky? How do they see this omen impacting their life and year to come? Explore the thoughts and experience either alone or with a friend. ]

A hybrid was wandering around the outskirts of the settlement, her peach skin standing out against the greens of the Alkidike and Vandrea. She wasn't a stranger, however, as most knew Verose on sight. They may treat her with a bit of distance, but they weren't angry or aggressive. They simply saw her as lesser compared to the blessed daughters of the isle.
Verose scratched at one of her tightly wound dreads, glad to at least have the green color in that trait. While she might not necessarily reflect her mother's colors, she at least tried to blend in with the culture.
At least outside of times like these, where she appreciated sitting in the distance and silence. She knew there was some sort of event happening high in the sky, and hoped to enjoy it on her own before hunting for her mother.
Times like these, she missed when her parents spent time together, but unfortunately her father wasn't allowed on the isle, and that was that.

[1/7] Hesperia hadn't intended to stray too far from the isle, but... like Verose, the sky had distracted her. There hadn't been much to see yet - a few trailing lights, like stars dropping from the sky. The Vandrea (including herself) had gasped and pointed when the first stars began to fall, but their Aishan mothers had seemed delightfully excited. From there, while some had ducked into their homes to seek shelter while stealing glances through windows, others had scampered to the higher parts of the isle to watch.
Hesperia was trying to find her sister. But even from this far away, the green hair wasn't enough to come close to fooling her into thinking this was Wangui.
The Vandrea paused, hesitant, but before she could ponder the hybrid's loitering too much - a flash from the sky drew her attention, and she gasped out in delight without bothering to smother the sound, a hand trailing over her mouth. "Oh my--"
It was dazzlingly pretty... but also scary and new enough to make her heart pound in her breast, her throat and mouth dry as she waited expectantly, almost as if thinking the world would shake now, from where the star must have landed however far away.

Verose was enjoying the silence for a long moment, appreciating the experience as she normally did. Her homesickness was a constant struggle, considering she never identified herself as having a home. But even that wasn't enough to stop her from jumping when the noise broke the silence. She cursed under her breath, not as aware as most Aishans, and turned to look to where it came from.
She nibbled on her lip before taking a deep breath and steeling herself, lifting her chin and quickly trying to place a name with the face and markings.
Hesperia, one of the more friendly and motherly of the Vandrea.
"Beautiful...isn't it?" She said after a long moment, before turning her dark eyes back up to the sky.

She should leave. Probably. This seemed like a very serious, private moment for the older Aishan. But... maybe that's why something in the other woman seemed vulnerable, at first glance, even if as soon as she spotted Hesperia she went back to 'normal'. The stars, Hesperia decided, were enough of a reason to linger, if somewhat awkwardly.
For a moment she thought the other woman might leave, or just go silent. But... then she spoke, and Hess couldn't push down the leap of tentative relief she felt at that.
"...Yes, very." She answered, allowing the wonder and breathlessness to linger in her tone. She didn't drag her eyes from the sky, although... she relaxed a bit, happy at least to not be watching this pretty sight alone. Somehow, that was a lonely feeling - and why she'd been trying to find her sister.
"I hope the older sisters are right. They say it's a ... good omen."

Verose had a quiet energy about her, something she usually hid from others. She liked to put up a front of proving herself, but at the same time she knew that some would never see it that way. Next to the Vandrea, she was just a novelty, a symptom of change but not of prosperity.
"My dad says that it's some sort of science thing...that a star got too close to our world and broke apart while entering. Sounds magical to me...stardust falling across the land..."
Turning, her dark eyes looked back toward Hesperia, "Maybe it's a blessing...on the prosperity of our sisterhood..."

Hesperia shifted a bit, uncomfortable with the reminder of the girl's strange bloodline. Having a 'father' was such a novelty, after all. But Hess made herself focus on the rest of that statement as she moved a bit closer, looking up to the sky to focus on the 'stardust' the other girl spoke of. "That's a lovely thought." She conceded, though her expression sombered somewhat. "Though our world crushing a star to sparks seems... sad somehow. I- can't help but feel a bit wary of it, pretty or no."

Verose smiled for a moment, looking up to the sky before biting her lip and looking back toward Hesperia. She let out a gentle hum at the response, thinking it over slowly and reminded that some people really did struggle to think like the Belreans. Especially those who were more attuned to the stories of their gods.
"Our world crushing a star...yeah that does seem a bit violent..." she let out a chuckle and actually grinned this time, a flash of teeth before facing the Vandrea fully.
"It's Hesperia, right?"

Oh! Hesperia felt her cheeks heating up when the other woman turned to look at her. Somehow, she got the impression her previous statement had been lacking, that perhaps she had embarrassed herself. She didn't know much about the 'science' that Verose' other people knew about. Having never left her settlement before, it felt impossible to imagine that other people lived any differently than she did.
In others, this realization of her ignorance might have brought about a surge of anger, but Hesperia could only feel sheepish. She must seem like a child, to this person.
"Y-yes. And you're Verose."
Hesperia prided herself on knowing everyone, but - unfortunately in Verose' case she knew her by reputation, and not personally. "S-so-- if stardust falls across the land, do you think someone might find it someday?"

"That's right." She said with a grin, warming up to the easy going presence of the other before her. Hesperia was someone that didn't come off as threatening, so Verose didn't need to worry about putting up a shield. She could be herself around the other, at least as much as she allowed it.
Looking back to the sky to see another flash of light, the orange-skinned hybrid nodded slowly.
"I hear it's lucky if you're able to find stardust. That it can be used to make strong weapons or jewels. I've never seen one for myself...but when I was last in Belrea I heard some people talking about hunting for it..."

[5/7] [I think Belreans had guns XD At least at one point. Please correct me if I'm wrong!] Really? Hesperia blinked, surprised and enraptured, despite herself. Tilting her head again, to look at the sky with renewed curiosity, she finally took the plunge and settled down to sit next to Verose, her legs crossing under her. "I see. And... is that where Belreans procure their- fire bows?" Guns - although that wasn't a word that she knew.

[ They do smile It's part of the Alchemist class ]
Fire bows? Verose took a long moment to make the connection, before scoffing out a laugh. Of course, the Aishans didn't want to teach their young 'future' about Earthling technology. At least not until the war classes began.
"Not really. They have alchemists who make those...uh...kind of like healers, but they mix things to make magic instead of balms."
It was always weird to be the bridge between two cultures, but Verose was just happy she had a small chance to connect them with someone new.

[6/7] Al...chemists? Hesperia tilted her head, watching the other girl attentively as she explained. She'd never considered healers mixing anything that wasn't meant to heal. But in a way, it was a relief that those creations didn't consists of stardust - it would be a shame, for something so pretty to be made into something so dangerous.
"That sounds very useful! I wonder why the elders wouldn't want to learn how to do that, too."

The hybrid shrugged, before smiling after a moment, "Who knows, maybe soon enough they will. Things seem to be changing these days, at least compared to what my mother told me of back before they found Belrea and Kahikina."
As she looked once toward the sky, the girl took a deep breath before accepting that the stars were starting to slow.
"Thanks for talking with me, Hesperia. Most sisters tend to leave me alone...I really appreciated the company. Hopefully we can do it again soon." She didn't want to come off as dismissive, but it was about time for her to head home and get some rest. Tomorrow she was planning on seeing if she could head out and see her father...she suddenly found herself curious about the workings of the alchemist class.

Changing? Yes. Yes, she hoped so. Already, there felt like... strain, in some places, but they had all heard stories about the extremists and how they split the Alkidike apart all those years ago...
Before Hess could think too long about it, she dropped her gaze from the stars and back to her companion, her mouth open on a silent 'oh' as the girl... thanked her. "...Yes! Yes of course! I would like that, too." She rushed to respond, lifting her hand in a quick wave. As the other girl took her leave, Hesperia lifted her eyes once more to the stars, breathing out as the shining lights finally started to dim. She felt like the conversation had given HER more to think about than it had for Verose.
