Name: Nasrin Stage: Stage 3 - Healer Race: Matori // Geian Gender: Female Base Traits: Whimsical || Generous || Forgiving Personality: Nasrin is very much a free spirit. When she was younger she did not care to plan for the day by day and instead just went with her instincts on most occasions. She is playful and could spend hours entertaining younglings with stories and songs. While she is a favorite of the local younglings, her playful nature and whimsical responses may annoy others who want a more serious answer out of the girl. She can on rare occasion be very serious but to catch it is like catching the wind, one moment it is there and then gone the next.
Like her parents, she was raised with love and feels no need to be stingy about anything. Nasin will gladly offer to share some of her food with anyone that asks and will help here and there with projects for those who ask for aid. Though those requests are often more towards entertaining younglings while parents are working and less serious tasks as many still see Nasrin as a child in a sense. In the eyes of strangers she is far too playful to take on serious tasks. However, her family trusts her far more, especially her father when he asks for her help in the gardens. Anything that involves plants will actually keep Nasrin's attention after all.
Nasrin does have a forgiving spirit and would never hold malicious intent and rarely a grudge against anyone. When she was younger she was more innocent and gullible, but after traveling around Tendaji the young woman has matured and is more wary of others and any potential dangers (especially the Dretch). Being with Taaru has kept her spirit from falling completely into darkness and her growing feelings for the archer has kept her heart warm and her smile bright. She's not the same girl as before since maturing over the years, but there is still a childlike spirit at times whenever she has a playful moment and she is still willing to do her best to help others - hence her desire to open up a resort and spa along the borders of Zena and Sauti for weary travelers who need healing and rest.
History:
When Tendaji was first made known to the Belreans, Joren was one of the first few to hop onto an airship for the new continent. He was a hard working Geian in the Sector of Agriculture and his love for plants was known by many. He simply adored nursing plants, helping to strengthen crops and flowers alike for the good of Belrea. Finding out about a new world excited the man who wished to broaden his horizons. If there were new plants to be found then he would document them and bring them back home to Belrea.
He knew it would be a timely investment because he wanted to explore all of the flora and fauna in the new world. Taking up this task would have been a harder decision for those with families but thankfully Joren was a single man with no interest in settling down just yet. He had spent his youth dedicated to agriculture and had made no romantic connections. The most he had was an older sister, almost older than him by a decade, who was distantly living in the cities with a lightning teacher. While she was content writing her articles and inspiring the public with words he wanted to explore and inspire others with knowledge of the new continent. So off to Tendaji he went.
While the original airship landed in Sauti, Joren wanted to explore beyond the boundaries of this first country. The more he interacted with the foreigners, slowly gaining their trust by sharing some of the things he knew, whether about medicines or about Belrean herbs and teas, and the more he found out about all of the countries in the new continent the more Joren wanted to keep traveling. So while others were simply sticking to the cities of Tendaji, Joren was venturing into the less populated areas.
He spent weeks moving from country to country until he finally came to the beaches of Matori. By this time he had grown accustomed to some of the cultures and the appearances of the people. However, there was still much for him to learn. This he found out the hard way by trying to collect a sample of a strange braided vine he found growing in the northern forests of Matori. Straining, his bare fingers struggling to connect with the strange and new plant, the man managed to get a small sample before a pair of arms wrapped around his waist and tugged him backwards.
"No!"
All Joren remembered for the next few days was a blurry face and something bitter being pressed between his lips. It turned out that he had just gotten pricked by a poisonous plant, but that thankfully a Matori woman by the name of Su had caught him in time. Her family had collected silk from the vines for years and she had pricked his fingers in time to bleed out the poison and apply antidote. He still ran a fever and felt weak for the next few days during which the pair bonded. It turned out that Su had a passion for plants and hearing Joren's tales only made her desire to travel grow more. Agreeing to go with the Geian man was the best decision of her life. What had started out as being his guide for a few weeks turned more into months and then months turned into a year.
That year turned into love and soon enough the pair was blessed with a child. They named her Nasrin and took her with them on their travels, sleeping under the stars or staying at various inns, until finally when Nasrin was still a youngling the pair decided to return to Belrea. There Joren went back to his home near Thelle and introduced the loves of his life to his home country and his work in agriculture. The community was smaller where he lived and while at first many prodded Su with questions of her homeland, they came to quickly love and accept the sweet tempered woman.
Nasrin in turn was loved as well. In fact, she didn't mind being a little bit different especially since she enjoyed looking like both her mother and father. If anything she would like to tease other younglings about how surely they were jealous of her looks before winning them over with her kind smile and warm words. The love of her parents and the peacefulness of their small community allowed Nasrin to grow up proud of her heritage and full of love. As such she feels less pressured to grow up as quickly as others and has more of a wild freedom about herself. She doesn't know exactly where the future will lead and is okay with that. Nasrin does share her parents' love for plants and will probably lean towards being a mage with natural magic one day if not a songstress the next. She does have a beautiful voice and enjoys singing while playing in the flower fields outside of her home. Her belief is that the time will come when it comes and that the decision will reveal itself to her then. Such is the way of the carefree girl who believes strongly in fate and letting nature take its course.
Some Notes: Working on opening a healing spa around the borders of Sauti and Zena. Nasrin has always enjoyed the idea of making her own inn or tavern and adding healing springs to the mix only brought more excitement!

♥ The Story So Far... ♥ ❣ Nasrin grew up with her family in Belrea at the agricultural center. She spent the majority of her days just wandering the flower fields outside of the smaller town or helping her father with rare plants and herbs gathered from Tendaji in the greenhouse. When she got older the girl decided to take up healing and decided to travel towards Matori to learn from her mother's sister, an experienced healer. Along the way she has gotten into trouble with Dretch, helped stop a wildfire and met a wonderful traveling companion whom she holds dear...currently they are still around Matori while she trains and he helps rescue wild animals.

♥ Healer Path - Soul Linker ♥ “What if instead of just collecting flowers you collected treasures?” A little geian boy asked as he sat down near Nasrin, one of the many children who sat in a circle around the hybrid, their little faces intent as they listened to the stories that she continued to spin under the afternoon skies. “Wouldn’t that be exciting?” Several of the children nodded their heads as they all pondered the life of an adventurer like Talin who was in so many of Nasrin’s stories. This time he had made a daring adventure across a dangerous ocean to gather sacred stones for his sister’s freedom from a dastardly villain who captured her years ago after their parents’ death in a violent storm. The children loved every moment of the story from the sorrowful beginning of the orphans lives as travelers to the intense fighting scenes as Talin made his way across the world on his quest and to the fateful conclusion of the villain’s demise and the siblings’ tearful reunion. Their adoration of the character showed in their questions about becoming an adventurer and asking if Nasrin ever would want to do such a thing. After all, hadn't her Papa been a great adventurer himself at one point in his life? That’s why she had a mother from Matori which was all the way across the world! The children nodde at the thought and waited for Nasrin’s answer with interest.
“Maybe?” Nasrin tilted her head to the side thoughtfully, a small smile lighting her expression as she pondered the idea. What if she did become an adventurer? Could collecting treasures truly become her life’s passion? The hybrid pursed her lips thoughtfully before shaking her head, her emerald curls bouncing with the movement. “Nah, I think plants are much more beneficial to others than some gold! What if Talin’s sister had some sort of dangerous disease? Or the villian poisoned her before she left to make certain that she would be forced to return?” Nasrin grinned as the children gasped at the idea. “If Talin hadn’t encountered a lovely healer then his sister’s escape would have been in vain.”
“What?” Another geian boy scooted forward, his appearance identical to the other boy who already sat at Nasrin’s left. Roy and Rey were both twins and very rambunctious but somehow behaved themselves long enough to listen to Nasrin’s stories. It was a blessing and another reason that the parents often asked Nasrin to entertain the children while they worked during the day. Her playful nature and talent with weaving stories always came in handy when it came to entertaining the children of the town and Nasrin enjoyed amusing them so she often agreed to watch over the group of various children. Rey was often full of questions just like his brother and never hesitated to speak out whenever something was on his mind. “So you’re saying that the villain didn’t really die and he actually poisoned Myri?!”
Nasrin chuckled and gave a playful wink. “I suppose he did pull one on the siblings. Who knew that a villain could be so calculating and creative? Instead of dying he managed to escape and unfortunately for Talin and Myri there was poison in the last meal that she had in her prison.” Nasrin gave a shiver, her fingers clenching at her upper arms as if reenacting Myri’s own chills. “Myri was fine for a few days but then the signs started to show up more and more as she broke out into a cold sweat and couldn’t stop shivering. It was so warm outside and the fever so out of the blue that they rushed her to a healer. None could figure out what was wrong with the girl and Talin was so desperate to save his sister that finally word reached a rather unique figure, a girl who lived alone from others who enjoyed the company of plants to humans.”
“Poor Myri!” Gasped one of the girls, her gaze teary as she thought about the adventurer’s sister who always seemed to be in such peril. “Will she be okay if Talin goes to the girl who loves plants?”
“Shush, Izi!” Rey lifted a finger and frowned at his cousin. “Nasrin has to tell the story so we can find out!”
“Well you see while other healers focused on what they knew the strange girl had studied a variety of plants and was well versed in what many didn’t know. She had taken poisons into her own body so that she could build her own immunity while experimenting with potential antidotes from these rare and exotic flowers from all over the world.” Nasrin smiled as the children inched closer, their interest obvious as she described the type of life that the strange girl had been living while working with plants on the outskirts of town. “When Talin approached her and told her about his sister’s symptoms the healer immediately understood the issue and told him what type of plant he would have to recover for her. She could offer his sister some aid but to truly cure the poison he would have to bring back the golden edged lily that grew in the depths of the desert.”
“Another adventure?” The boys’ chirped in unison as they grinned, “Did he have to fight a lot of monsters?”
“Perhaps.” Replied Nasrin with a teasing grin, “But I will have to tell you more about that next time.”
“Awwwwww!”
“Sorry, but it’s late and dinner must be ready for all of you.” Nasrin stood and brushed off her skirts. “Run along now so that your parents don’t have to worry.” After several more rounds of protests and promises that she could continue her story tomorrow afternoon, Nasrin saw all of the children off to their respective families.
“So I see that you are convincing the children that herbs are more important than gold.” The familiar voice of her father caught her attention and with a laugh of delight, Nasrin found herself jumping into his arms. “Good to see you too, Rini.”
“Papa! I didn’t think you would be home today!” His lectures at the Academy must have gone very well then if he came back a day early! Nasrin squeezed her father in a tight hug before letting go so that she could hold his hand as they walked through the village and towards the path that led to their home.
“Surprise.” Joren grinned before squeezing his daughter’s hand. “I managed to arrive just in time to hear the end of today’s story. Did the children not convince you to become a treasure hunter after all?”
Nasrin laughed. “They tried but nope! I already know that my heart is set on studying plants and becoming a healer.” Her mother’s family had a lot of magic and Nasrin already saw sparks of it in her own body because of how plants reacted to her. After hearing about her mother’s heritage, Nasrin had decided to study plants more like her Papa while working to learn medicine so that she could become a soul linker one day. “I just hope that my story convinces them that gold won’t solve all of your problems.” She pursed her lips playfully, “That way they’ll understand that a healer is far more important than a bag of coins! Though traveling as a treasure hunter does sound fun….I would rather travel and learn about healing.”
“Sounds like traveling is still in your future then. I suppose that doesn’t surprise me considering how much we roamed while you were a youngling.” Joren mused as they walked through the fields of flowers that made their hometown so well known throughout Belrea. Even in autumn the fragrant scents filled the air as the fall flowers bloomed in place of those that had fallen once summer’s warmth left the lands. Thankfully southern Belrea stayed somewhat warm during the year so many plants still thrived even in the middle of winter unlike in the north and the mountains that often saw so much snow. Living with flowers had made Nasrin grow to love and cherish them and having a botanist for a father had only increased her interest in the variety of plants and their uses. Between him and her mother how could she ignore the call to become a healer?
“Yep.” Nasrin nodded as she focused back on her father. “Traveling as a child always delighted me so I hope to continue it in the future. I’ll come home often though, promise.” She playfully quipped as she studied the older geian male walking by her side. “How could I not visit you both? I’ll have to report anything new that I find as well so that you can write even more books.”
Joren chuckled. “Fair enough. I just hope Su forgives me. She’ll blame me because you inherited my wanderlust for certain.” Even though he was teasing, Nasrin still felt a slight pang in her chest. How could she leave behind such wonderful parents? The hybrid girl shook her head against the thought and pressed closer to her father.
“Don’t worry. It’ll be a while yet!” She chirped playfully as she tugged his hand and urged them to walk faster towards home. “I’m sure Mama has dinner ready too!”
“Alright, alright.” Laughing the pair sprinted through the flowers and back towards home.

♥ Preparing to Leave Home - Growth Quest ♥ Nasrin just remembered that there was a terrifying storm. The rain was pounding loudly against the glass windows, the lightning flashing across the gray skies leaving a burning impression behind her eyelids that only intensified after each shudder of their home as the thunder continuously roared in the distance. Her Mama had been outside of the house, the clear skies a few moments earlier giving no indication of any storm and they had let out their lyari to wander the fields behind the house. Even though the storm looked threatening, Nasrin couldn’t help the worry that rose in her chest whenever she glanced outside and saw the empty yard. Her Papa was out at the Academy again but where was her mother? Nasrin chewed her bottom lip nervously before daring to grab a cloak and heading outside to brave the storm. Someone would have to let the poor lyari into the small barn and hopefully she could run into Mama before things go really bad! Nasrin had managed to gather most of the lyari and secured them into the barn, the cold wind whipping around her and numbing any exposed skin that wasn’t covered by her dress and cloak. One of the younger lyari and her mother were still missing and Nasrin found herself at a loss. Did she continue looking even with the storm getting worse by the second? She could only imagine how terrified the young lyari was and she couldn't help but to worry about her mother as well. Nasrin glanced up towards the skies with one last final moment of hesitation before finally darting out of the barn and back into the wailing winds that awaited her outside. Flower petals, dirt and branches flew through the skies around her but she continued darting forward. Eventually under the wailing noise of the winds she heard the faint crying of a lyari. “Oh!” Nasrin smiled as she pressed onwards and found the little one crying from beneath a larger tree towards the edge of the field, the heavy branches of the gnarled giant bending forward beneath the pressure of the winds. She had just reached the little lyari, its soft bleats nearly breaking her heart, when lightning flashed and a large cracking noise filled her eyes. Gasping in surprise, Nasrin jumped forward so that she could shield the lyari with her body and that was the last thing she remembered before darkness filled her vision. Perhaps there were the faintest sounds of someone screaming her name but honestly Nasrin couldn’t truly recall as the impact forced her to lose consciousness.
Nasrin woke up a few days later to her mother clutching her hands in her own. “Mama?” She whispered weakly, her body sore and her head throbbing whenever she shifted to try and glance at the Matori woman who was resting in a chair next to her bed. “Are you okay?” Everything was fuzzy and she didn’t understand why her mother was crying so much.
“Nasrin!” Su smiled and wiped some tears from her eyes, “Everything is fine now, sweetie.” She explained what had happened to Nasrin and how she had found her under the tree with the lyari. The lyari was fine, he was back with his mother at the barn, and Nasrin had been carried to bed so that a doctor could look over her. It had been almost three days but she was finally awake! “I was so scared when I saw you like that….”
“I’m sorry.” Nasrin smiled weakly. “I just didn’t want to leave the little one out in the storm...I didn’t mean to worry you.”
“You’re such a silly girl. Will you always put others before yourself?” Her mother chastised with a sigh. “The healer is coming back to check on you again and I’m going to prepare some tea, okay?”
“Okay.” Nasrin found herself reflecting while she was in bed for the next couple of days. Was it wrong of her to dart forward to protect someone else? Despite her guilt for worrying her mother she felt almost empowered by the knowledge that she had saved the little lyari. It felt good to be helpful and the more time that she spent with the healer as the older Geian women continued to check on her, the more Nasrin realized that she was ready. She had wavered before about what she wanted to do in life but the fascination of plants and medicine had always kept her interested and now knowing that she had made a difference in the lyari’s life made her realize that she wanted to move beyond playful hobbies. But she would have to become stronger to do so first.
It was almost a month later that she finally confessed her feelings to her parents. Joren supported her decision to leave and train under a healer while Su was more reluctant to let her leave at first. “Are you certain that you’re ready for this?” She kept asking quietly as she held Nasrin’s hands, her amber gaze full of love and worry. “You know I would love to keep you home with us forever, little flower.”
“I know, Mama.” Nasrin smiled and squeezed her mother’s delicate hands. “But I can’t stay like this forever. I have to grow up someday, right? Why not now?” She took a breath and nodded to reassure both herself and her mother that this was the right time to finally leave and spread her wings. “I can study with your relatives in Matori so that I can learn more about the magical aspects of healing after I spend more time with the Belrean doctor so I won’t leave for probably another few months yet.” She had learned a lot of the basics in the past couple of years from local healers but it was time to truly learn all that she could and to become an active healer.
“Matori?”
“Yep! I think they have a good grasp of magical properties while Belrea has more technical studies sometimes.” Replied Nasrin, “I wanna be like Papa and learn how to blend the best of both worlds. Your Aunty is a healer so can’t I learn from her? She still writes you letters, right?”
“She does.” Su let out a sigh before letting go of her daughter’s hands. “I suppose I can write to my Aunt and see how she feels about taking you as a student.” The Matori woman shook her head, “Both my husband and daughter are against me so how can I say no?” She let out a chuckle before glancing back towards Nasrin, “I just hope you have safe travels when you leave us later this year. Write often?”
“Of course!” After all, Nasrin surely would have lots to write about while learning under her Aunt in Matori and she would definitely travel home to see her family whenever she could! She would always love her parents and never forget them but it was finally time to go and face the world on her own. Excitement bloomed in her chest at the thought as she prepared herself for the adventures ahead.

After getting injured to save a young lyari during a storm, Nasrin realizes that it's time for her to finally leave home and take an active role as a healer. Saving a life really touched her spirit and she's more determined than ever to take the leap across the world so that she can train with her Aunt in Matori who knows healing.

Nasrin was finishing up her studies in Matori.
It was crazy to think how much her life had changed within the last two years. She had left Belrea and came to study with her relatives. Along the way she had been kidnapped by the Dretch and found someone who completely filled her heart with light. Now that everything was at peace again the girl was finding herself facing a new adventure. She had boldly confessed to Taaru and now they were planning on leaving Matori to head into Zena. It was a big change for Nasrin who once before had no true motivation, no real focus in life. Now she was changing, maturing into a young healer who wanted to help others and would dedicate herself to helping out at the animal sanctuary. It was scary starting life in a world so far away from the one she had always known but she was ready. Nasrin was so nervous about the whole ordeal that she found herself walking the beach over and over. The waves were lovely, they calmed her soul and she always felt so at peace in this area. “Goodbye Matori.” Nasrin had whispered before saying her farewells to her family, her aunt especially tearing up whenever they said their goodbyes.
“Tell your mother I miss her.”
“I will.” Nasrin had swallowed her tears. “But I may not be going back to Belrea as planned.”
“What do you mean, child?”
“I think I have a purpose in Zena.” Nasrin quickly explained everything she knew about the animal sanctuary and her relationship with Taaru. “Maybe we could even open something else there…a clinic for people.” She proposed with a small smile. “Either way I want to take this leap and see where life takes me.”
“Are you certain you want to sacrifice your comforts? Zena is a rougher place than Belrea.” Warned her Aunt though she didn’t seem against her niece’s decision. If anything she just seemed concerned about wanting what was the best for her niece. Nasrin knew that Belrea would be more comfortable and it offered her stability while going with Taaru would mean a lot of new dangers and an uncertain path. Still, there was just something that made her want to do it. She couldn’t stay safe forever, right? She had to finally spread her wings. Even coming to Matori had been a safely calculated risk since she knew her family was nearby. She had never truly entered the unknown on her own before like this.
“I’m prepared.” Nasrin answered honestly. “I’ve thought long and hard about it and while going home is tempting I don’t think that’s my path. I want to do what I can to help others and this is the best option for me even with all of the risks.” She smiled as she hugged her aunt. “Thank you for your concern but I can do this.”
And now here she was in Sauti embracing her future wherever the path may lead. Nasrin was stronger now and she had faith in herself. She could do this!
[515]
Nasrin has always had the comfort of family in her life. She has never truly gone into a situation blindly but now she is ready to take charge and look for adventures. She will be going into Zena away from the comforts of all she knows so that she can grow stronger and learn more about herself and the world that Taaru was raised in.
