The team members that were stationed on the water were frightened, gripping the sides of the small boat tightly. One of them stood, calling out in the direction of the light and demanding for the source to show itself. Upon not receiving an answer, they all became a bit more nervous. Even Logan was shaking in his boots from his place on the shoreline.
The Captain grabbed two confident looking people and loaded into a small canoe. They rowed out to the middle next to the other boat, and Roku pulled a handheld spotlight from the bag she had been carrying. Shining back in the direction of the other light, she yelled out:
"I demand you to show yourself! We have not come to harm you, only to find out who else has been on the lake!"
A short time went by before the light suddenly vanished, and whispers went through the crowd of guild members. The hazed light from a full moon, however, silhouetted a small figure sitting in a small fishing boat. It shone on something golden inside the boat as well, which led the Captain to be all the more curious as a timid voice squeaked from that direction.
"Alright, you've caught me. I am so sorry- I finally got my Angelic Rod and I just couldn't stop Fishing! The competition was getting hot that month and I had to catch more fish, so I've been out here after hours on the lake."
Things were starting to make sense, but much more needed to be clarified as Roku had her canoe crew row closer. A young man was in the fishing boat, his face tired and worn and his appearance shown he clearly had not eaten or showered in a few days.
"Sir, why have you been shining your spotlight at folks? And how can you stay out here for such a long period of time? I understand you wanted to fish, but you've been scaring people off and caused the lakes to be shut down. This is unacceptable."
"Well, at first I just pulled my boat over into an overhang of trees against the bank to hide. But then I realized it stopped me from actually catching fish, and so I started shining a really bright light at people where they couldn't see me. Everyone just thought it was an alien or something I guess and ran off. I've been catching so many fish at the other lakes that there was nothing left to catch, and I think they eventually closed them down because of that, so I finally move to Bass'ken. I stocked up on a bunch of supplies, and have a bunch of drinks and food in here. Please don't tell Logan I've been in his shop after hours though- I took a bunch of his bait and just left a bunch of fillets in his fridge to help pay it back. I know that isn't enough, I am sorry."
The explanation was a sad one, yet everyone with the heart of a true Fishing enthusiast has been there. The competition gets fierce, and people are on the lakes at all hours with tired eyes and bulk amounts of bait. The lone fisher eventually came back with the Captain, Logan, and all the guild members to turn himself in to the authorities. It turns out, the lakes had been emptied of so many fish that a year was needed to restock them, and after this time they were re-opened. The man realized what trouble had been caused, and agreed to pay back the leftover bait and items that could help Logan buy more.
