Hobbies:
Animal Rescue Volunteer – Cara adores animals. While dogs are far and away her favorite, she can find something to like about nearly any animal out there, and it truly bothers her that she does not and cannot at this point in time have a pet of her own. So she copes with this by giving love to the pets most in need of it – animals in rescues and shelters that need a little love and attention from people who can spare the time to give a little to a good cause. Sure, a lot of the volunteering is manual labor and she has to do a fair amount of that at school anyway, but it’s different when it’s helping to care for animals. Besides, the reward is a lot better.
Video Games – Never try to tell Cara that video games are meant for boys. She’ll not only argue, she’ll also actively fight you over it. The fanciest game system she has at the moment is an old Nintendo DS, but she has a fair amount of games for it nonetheless and can be found playing said games quite often in her spare time. Her favorite go-to games? Pokemon and the Mega Man series, though she has something of a grudge against the Zero series because she’s not a fan of downer endings.
Virtues:
Loyal – Cara likes to equate herself to a wolf in a lot of ways, due to her love of the animals, but really she’s more of a puppy. And like a puppy, she is very, very loyal to the people she cares about. Once a person has won her trust she will defend them to her last breath, if necessary. Physical defense or reputation, she doesn’t care; there will be no attacks upon the people she’s attached to that will ever go unchallenged. Earning her loyalty isn’t overly easy, but once you have it, it’s just as hard to break as it is to earn. If you’re considered a friend to Cara, you’re her friend for life.
Affectionate – A very loving girl, Cara shows affection easily and quickly. Cara is quick to express her fondness for someone, be it with a hug or a gift, or just some company when they’re feeling down. She’s quick to offer comfort and cuddles to those she cares for, and quick to seek them out, too; there’s no wondering about Cara’s feelings towards a person. If she likes them, she makes it very obvious. Little thoughtful gestures like a card sent on a bad day, or making a funny face to distract from dark thoughts are all common with Cara. She’s not one who will hesitate over whether or not something is appropriate, and in the most ideal expressions of this, it’s shown in just how sweet she can be with the important people in her life.
Creative – Thinking outside the box comes naturally to Cara. While she does recognize that there is a box and that sometimes, sometimes it can be useful to work within the boundaries, she is also very aware that most of the time there are better solutions available than what is tried-and-true. And not only are they out there, she’s more than willing to try them. Sure, some of them might be a little more unusual than others – the answer to that hypothetical
‘what would you do if you saw someone in danger’ question is probably not
‘summon my dog army to initiate a rescue, but original thinking is never going to be a problem for her!
Flaws:
Rude – Sure, Cara’s sweet to the people she loves, but if she doesn’t like you? She will show it, and show it in potentially offensive ways. The same is true if she simply doesn’t know you yet – to strangers and people she doesn’t consider ‘hers’, Cara is a terrible jerk, no question about it. Quick to insult and quicker to curse, Cara is both a casual potty-mouth and goes out of her way to offend others as naturally as breathing. She doesn’t care what they think of her, and in fact tends to celebrate the fact that people look at her and consider her rude or a brat. A well-placed sarcastic comment or an insult is something she takes pride in, even though it really shouldn’t be.
Rulebreaker – Rules are made to be broken, at least in Cara’s books. This is one of the reasons she’s in St. Mags and honestly, one of the biggest issues standing between her and becoming a decent, productive citizen. While she’s not an anarchist in the political sense, Cara does take a great deal of pleasure in flouting authority and doing her own thing, which can and has landed her in real trouble. The only rules this girl respects are those she sets for herself, and those are mutable and change according to her whims and needs. Needless to say, she ends up in trouble more often than not… not that she seems to care much about it.
Violent – The answer to every problem is to solve it with fists... right? At least, Cara thinks so. She’s quick to fistfight and quicker to physically jump at someone over a slight or insult. By making fun of her – or in particular, her albinism – a person has invited trouble, because Cara has no fear of fights and will attempt to counter any teasing with fists. This has earned her a reputation as being violent and has interfered with her ability to make friends. She has faced severe consequences for this behavior, from suspension to an expulsion to a stint in juvie when she was thirteen, but so far most efforts to curb this tendency have been in vain. Her social worker has strongly recommended anger management therapy coupled with positive influences in her life. And hopefully, St. Mag’s environment will have an effect on this problematic trait, as well.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Cara is albino, so keep this in mind for her coloring please! She’s of German-Japanese heritage, the latter of which shows mostly in her build and the shape of her eyes, which while large have a defined almond shape to them.
Hair: White hair that is very fluffy and kept in a bob. Tends to resist efforts to tame it.
Face: Cara has a very round face with a straight nose, and overall delicate features that bely a scrappy personality.
Clothes: When not in her school uniform, Cara adores looking cute in frilly clothing. Some days she dresses ultra-feminine in ruffles and lace, but on other days she does a fashion 180 and edges into a punkish tomboy style. It really depends on her mood at the time.
