Hailing from somewhat rural Georgia, Dawson's almost a walking conglomerate of stereotypes from The South: easy-going, generous, chatty, throwing out ain'ts and y'alls like they're going out of style, and seemingly never wearing anything outside of jeans and a shirt and cap. He loves being around people and working with his hands, and nothing satisfies him more than working hard towards a worthy goal. Well, except for the hearing a groan after one of his genius puns. Or eating; he loves food, and God forbid you get in the way of his stomach. His work at one of the local bakeries-slash-"shakeries", The Sweet Spot, fulfills these requisites rather nicely.

AIN'T NO TROUBLE HERE
EVER ATLAS

Dawson was raised in a household that put a lot of emphasis on being A Good Samaritan, but there are quite a few times that he amps it up to eleven. It's less that he can't say no to people and more that he can't not stick his nose in someone's business if they look even remotely in need of help with something. His conscience won't let him sit on his heels if he knows something's up, and he'll drop whatever he's doing to go help even strangers out in whatever way he's capable of. As good as doing so makes him feel, unfortunately, it also tends to cause him to stress out as well as take on the burden as his own, weighed down with the guilt that if he doesn't, he'll be useless. It doesn't help that he's more stubborn than a barn full of disgruntled mules; sure, he'll help you out, but he'll stick to his pride and refuse help from others unless it's very, very desperate.

And speaking of: Dawson's broke as s**t right now. He's been paying child support for his 9 year old daughter Daisy for years now, and he's on his last legs when it comes to jobs. It's hard to get hired for something with good pay when you've had to drop out of college to go looking for work and didn't have much beyond average grades before that. It's only because of one of his uncles that he managed to get the one he has at The Sweet Spot (which thankfully has a proprietor who doesn't mind his lackluster resume), but even so he still always keeps an eye out for odd jobs: mow the lawn, small-time construction, sign spinner, anything he can get his hands on for a couple of bucks. At the moment Dawson's living out of his car, and he'd rather die than let anyone other than his boss know about it.

He's a man that wants his white picket fence and his daughter back and a damn pack of dogs for pets, but for now that's just a pipe dream at the end of a long drought of beer.

• Birthday is May 4th; currently 29 years old
  
• 5'10", hairy, and built sturdy despite his rather round figure; freckles everywhere
  
• His daughter Daisy will turn 9 on November 8th
  
• Has a small cowlick under those hats of his that he can't stand
  
• Shameless nerd, especially when it comes to Star Wars and D&D
  
• Also really into Greek and Roman mythology
  
• Has a slightly bad knee from an accident a few years back
  
• There's a break in his right eyebrow but no scar; his brother once slammed the door on his face as a kid
  
• Loves, loves, loves to inform people about random holidays (Talk Like a Pirate, National Lemonade Day, etc.) and may even give small discounts if you indulge him at the bakery
  
• Is touchy and sometimes forgets people have bigger personal space bubbles
  
• Struggles not to spend money on alcohol and cigarettes when anxious
  
• Is aware he's adopted, but isn't very concerned about that fact right now
