lara llyinos lupin NERVOUS JURIS DOCTOR Lara Lupin, JD, Esq, is a public defender and an associate professor at Rider-Waite. Having lived in Ashdown most of her life (except when getting her JD from Yale) she's quite well known for being weirdly flighty and nervous, but ultimately quite kind and approachable. Her dog, Cerberus the Deathslayer, is a trained epilepsy detection dog, despite his small size and unusual breed; Lara dotes on him, but also experiences some social fallout from having a "purse dog". This thread exists to allow all players to share how they might have interacted with Lara: short drabbles of classroom or workplace interaction, text messages between coworkers, encounters in the library, it all goes. I may or may not respond to drabbles; it's a matter of discretion! Please tag my main account, shibrogane, if you're interested in a response. :3

Lecture Me Harder
Temperance was normally quite reserved around people she didn't know too well. Lecturers were, however, different. Something about them and their respective subject matter tipped the scale into 'ask lots of questions time' for the blonde girl. With words burning holes in the metaphorical pocket of her mind, she jogged after Lupin, completely leaving Connor, her project partner, in the dust. She'd have to text him later, oops. Hopefully, he wouldn't be too much of an a** over it.
"Professor Lupin!" She called out, skidding to a stop near the dark-haired woman. She was so well put-together, composed, and Temperance grimaced at her own mismatched socks. "I, um, I just wanted to say I loved your lecture and I was, um, w-wondering if sometime you'd be interested in entertaining further discussion on the importance of a medical advocate for patients who is divorced entirely from their personal medical care? And, um, a few other things. I understand if you're busy, though! I just..." She scuffed the ground with one boot. "Good lecture."

Book Borrowing
He over heard her mentioning a book she was looking to get in the library. He wasn’t thinking about it that much when he went to grab it, he just did. He almost bumped into her when he turned to hand it to her.
“Uh, Sorry professor, your book.” He handed it to her and tried not to look like be was a creeper as he opted to move to a different row of books entirely.

a subpoenaA rare sight was to be seen on the way to Lara Lupin's office. Detective Lieutenant Jeremiah Mercer had not one but two cups in his hand. One, obviously, was tea - his mainstay - and the other was coffee. The look on his face, the slight nose wrinkle at the smell, was priceless. Yet as he worked with Lara, knew she likely had not had her cup yet, he was bringing her one. Fixed the way he had seen her do so so many times before (an eye for details, this detective). His foot tapped against the door to announce his presence instead of his hand. They were full.

Lecture Me HarderLara stopped walking and turned, adjusting her purse with Cerby in it slightly. "Of course," she said. "I'm free now, if you want?" Book Borrowing"Oh, thank you," said Lara, blinking wide-eyed at the young man who'd just showed up with a copy of the lecture book she'd been seeking. "I, um... How did you find it so fast?" Lara was standing next to a befuddled-looking librarian. "I probably wasn't describing it very well," said Lara to the older man. "Sorry, James." a subpoenaAt least the judge had been nice enough not to make her wait. Lara was snoozing on her desk when the subpoena was delivered to her, Cerby flopped down in his little puppy bed by the window of her office. Shortly after receiving the subpoena, like a wish come true, Detective Mercer knocked on her door. She could smell... "You brought coffee," said Lara, opening the door suddenly, bright-eyed despite the sizeable bags under her eyes. "You're a saint! Oh, and I'm about to make such an a** of myself, too."

“Uhh..” He turned a little warm in the face… mage more than a ‘little’ warm. “I um… just really.” How the heck did you explain that you had a cack for finding what you were looking for, so long as it was…books. “I just, um… saw it when I was looking for something else.” He grasped for a reason that hopefully didn’t sound too stupid. “Learned from watching the best.” he pointed vaguely at the poor befuddled librarian.” God, why was he so worried anyhow? It wasn’t like people would just point and scream ‘Magic’ in the middle of the library.

omfg sorryAfter his lecture Algie had found several voicemails and text messages. They were frantic, from his employee at the book shop. In all the contact though, they had said absolutely nothing about what had actually happened. He was on his phone, clenching it between his ear and his shoulder (because they weren't answering now) as Algie hurried around a corner while simultaneously adjusting his bag on his shoulder. Usually he walked a bit slower, took turns widely, but he cut the corner short and knocked it with his shoulder while simultaneously hitting the person coming down the hall towards him. His phone jostled and fell on the floor, he stumbled off balance, and the overly polite man was sputtering, "Oh I'm sorry!" before he'd even fully settled himself. shibrogane literally running into her, as lightly or hard a smash as you'd like

a subpoenaJeremiah snorted. "You are the only person I will bring coffee too." The detective did not even like the smell of the stuff. His attention flicked over to Cerby - so terribly cute and he would never say it - before he was rattling something in his pocket. Okay, so he would never admit he was cute but he always had a treat for him. "You are looking more worn down than usual ..." he said as he looked from Cerby and then back to Lara. She got an eyebrow raise at the mention of making an a** of herself.

It had been an age since Dawson had actually visited the library; not since the year and a half he spent in college, when he thought about it. No real need to back when he had access to his dad's rarely used Kindle. But he knew they were safe enough spaces, and those weren't always easy to come by in his current situation--and frankly, he needed to stave off boredom and charge his phone.
It was about ten minutes into his search for a suitable candidate to crack open when he finally decided to ask for help. It didn't really occur to him that the woman he approached might not work there; she just happened to be the nearest person, and he was a little nervous about approaching front desks where he might stand out for whatever reason he made up in his head.
"'Scuse me, ma'am," he began to ask, "you wouldn' happen t'know where--" And then he saw the purse, the head poking out from it, and his voice went up a few octaves higher. "Awmygosh."

A brief e-mail through the college campus system: shibrogane Hi Lara, Thanks again for letting me guest lecture last week. Your group was great! Lunch and research collab soon? I'm hitting the home stretch on that meta-analysis I mentioned and I bet you'll have insightful things to say about some of the stats I teased out. Have a GREAT weekend!! -Leila Townhome

No Place To Nap
The library had seemed like a good place to nap all things considered. It was generally nice and quiet, something she didn't get at her parents' house. She'd even had a nice little stack of books built up to make a somewhat comfortable pillow. Well, until she realized someone was trying to wake her. She stared at the woman, eyes still half shut due to how tired she was. It took her a couple of minutes before she noticed that the woman wasn't going away.
"Oh sorry. Am I uh...snoring or something?" Amelia blushed, staring up at Lara.
