Preacher Maria
wandering reprobate Having aged out of foster care, Preacher is a transplant to Ashdown by way of hitch-hiking. She's looking for a new start, but her insecure nature often has her lashing out for little reason. Having been shuffled from foster home to foster home has made her pretty mistrusting of most people. Right now, though, she's just trying to see if she can actually make something of herself or if she's as worthless as she's been told.
these fists were made for your face Preacher doesn't have much of a flight or fight response. That is... she's all fight. She thinks fast and, too often, with her fists. Slights real or imagined have her temper rising and prickle her delicate pride. No one really wants her around, she thinks, but she'll be damned if people won't pay for hurting her. It's easier to just assume the worst of people and work up from there.
She's got some marks on her record - nothing major, just the usual assault charges that would be much, much worse if she hadn't been an adolescent at the time. Since Preacher's an adult now, her records are all sealed up, but she's gotta find a way to toe the line if she wants to keep her slate clean.
ANYTHING ELSE? Preacher aged out of the foster care system and, unfortunately, got summarily thrust on the world. aka she ran away before her foster family could tell her to gtfo.

the write way Preacher always seems to have a pen and a scrap of paper handy in case she needs to write something down, or doodle. Or any other of the myriad uses of a pen. No, don't go for his eyes, Preacher!
what's in the box? You now are able to guess, by shaking a package, what's inside. Of course you don't know until you shake it so don't shake too hard just in case it's delicate (or alive)! You also have to say: ‘What’s in the box? What’s in the box?!’
doodle demon Preacher now innately understands the construction of three-symbol sigils, and can construct and power them on the fly. They're not neat or pretty, but they work, kinda like the duct tape/WD40 duo of the magical world.
primal scream When you scream, people stop moving. They physically cannot move for 15 seconds. Not even to breathe.
haptic interface You can now write in the air with a fingertip. With intention, you can cause streaks of light to follow your fingertips through the air in one single and unchanging color. These lights will only disappear once you want them to. For Preacher, the things drawn with this power have just enough tangibility to be nudged, shifted, plucked about with her hands. Symbol not in just the right place? Move it.
can you hear me now? While in animal form, Preacher can now speak languages she already knows as though she were untransformed. She can still make mink-like noises, but (as before) minks don't understand her either way.
mood ring Her eyes now shift colors according to her mood. This persists in were form.
brown = neutral, pink = affectionate/playful, purple = love/lust, yellow = happy, orange = afraid/worried, red = mad, red w/black = murderous, grey = sad
partition Preacher has become something of a gestalt consciousness. She can, if she chooses, actively work in the otherworld and the real world at the same time: essentially, she has the ability to manifest a second body in the otherworld that enables her to be in two places at once. However, most of her attention will remain in one world or the other. Should one of her bodies die, Preacher will be thrown back to the other one and lose this power entirely. |
