Backstory
An orphan of the cache, Elsie was in good care, but never felt like she was wanted or needed. There weren't any other Grimm around and she just was never quite sure about her place in the world. She never really bonded with any of her caretakers or made many friends; instead she threw herself into knitting and other crafts.
As she became older, she opened up more, allowing people into her life. It wasn't without a catalyst though. Over the years, she had made so many crafts, but she had no one else to share them with... so they ended up collecting dust in her room. It wasn't until an instructor, Mr. Edward (that's all she remembers him as) asked if she wanted to make some people happy. Curious, she agreed. Mr. Edward then asked her to gather up some of her crafts and bring them to his office, to which she obliged.
He organized everything to the last detail, a small event run by the two of them to give crafts to the elderly of the Below. Elsie adored making these nightmares' days, watching their faces brighten as they received the scarfs, hats and pictures that she had spent so much time on... It made her realize that she wanted to give to others somehow. That lead her to eventually run this event every year, even having it grow into having treats as well as crafts. Mr. Edward disappeared, she doesn't know to where and the other caretakers wouldn't say, but she was so grateful to him.
She decided to go to Grendel University in Fashion, originally hoping to find new things to make, but later it evolved into wanting to make her own brand with proceeds going to those in need.
Adopting Ash
She ended up visiting an art museum, finding herself enjoying the art with a batch of orphans on a field trip. And that's where she met Ash, a happy-go-lucky demon with a love of drawing.
If you ask her, she isn't quite sure why she decided to adopt right then and there. She jokingly says it was the maternal instincts kicking in, but really, she needed someone who needed her. Ash is her everything now and she's hoping to have their family grow. So far, it's grown by a Pumpka and Gryftoo.
Adopting Anstice
((WIP as of 1/6/2016))
Anstice, or "Antsy" as everyone calls her, is Elsie's second daughter. One evening as the winter holidays approached, Ash asked for a sibling.
Antsy ended up being their newest family addition, though she enjoys keeping Elsie on her toes.

Personality
Overall: Motherly, but prone to some anxiety.
Positives:
✓ Nurturing
xxx Vespercat lurking in the alleyway? Flitterrat breaking into her abode? It doesn't matter the situation, Elsie will happily take in any creature she feels needs a safe place to stay, even from when she was a freshling. Of course, she'll look for the original owners, but, in the mean time, they're more than welcome.
xxx Now, with her adopted daughter Ash, she has someone to focus all of that motherly energy on. She dotes on the little demon and wants nothing more than to make her happy and to give her the family she deserves.
✓ Amiable
xxx Friendly to a T, she never judges someone before she's gotten to know them. She loves getting to know people and finding out their passions in life and overall, she strives for friendship. When she's achieved that friendship, she'll do everything to make that person happy.
xxx With her agreeable nature, she has found herself in rather toxic relationships, but she still wants nothing more than to make others happy.
✓ Hardworking
xxx If Elsie has a challenge before her, she'll happily take it on. School was definitely one of them with a few subjects in particular (coughsciencescough). She never had the absolute best grades, especially when it came to the sciences, but she's never given up. It's not that she enjoyed having to retake a class, but no one could doubt the effort that she put in.

✘ Overprotective / Overbearing
xxx Please don't throw that! Here, let me do that! Please don't go out somewhere without a friend; the buddy system is a must! If Elsie had the choice, she would want to put her children in a bubble to keep them safe.
xxx Maybe it's the fact that she's an orphan herself that has lead to her motherly, yet overprotective nature. It's a way of showing affection and caring, though it could easily be stifling. It should lessen as she has more children and Ash is taking it pretty well.
✘ Nervous/Anxious
xxx Elsie has a pretty large issue with fearing what might happen to her children or those who she cares about; often fretting over the what ifs in life. Some have described her as neurotic on her worst days, but she isn't. She just worries a bit too much.
✘ Afraid of Rejection
xxx Not having much of a family to begin with, she's afraid of losing those that she considers as such. She can't stand the thought of someone that she loves hating her and she'll do anything to keep that possibility at bay.

✩ Sickly
xxx This is often a fact of life for Grimm, though Elsie often ends up with pneumonia from not taking care of herself. She's oftentimes like the mother who takes care of their children to the point of running herself ragged, forgetting her own needs over the child's. Her priority is those in her care (namely Ash).
xxx She realizes that this is a problem and she's working on it, especially at Ash's urging.
✩ Nimble
xxx When she isn't fighting off the latest illness, she's actually quite the athlete. Though she's not much for sports, she does run in the evenings and play catch whenever Ash requests it.
✩ Able to Cook
xxx If there's one thing that she's learned over the years, it's how to cook and bake. The whole hunting thing has it's perks, but nothing beats a warm meal made with love. Besides, cooking is the closest thing to a science that she can muster.
xxx She makes a mean vegetable soup that ends up being her food of choice when she's down with the latest cold.
✩ Die-hard Romantic
xxx She loves the idea of love, of finding that certain someone and building a life with them. She's definitely wanting to find a mate/lover down the road, but for now, she's perfectly content with smothering her children in love and attention.
xxx She's also a sucker for smutty romance novels.

xxx Having a large family to call her own. Maybe down the line she'll join a pack as well, but she'll never force that lifestyle on her children or mate. She does have her eye on a particular mutant, but she won't be admitting it for awhile.
Thoughts on Other Races:
xxx Very open to every race. She's not concerned about heritage, just about your personality.
xxx She does find herself curious about other the other races, not just her own and that continues to grow with each addition to the household. She's finding herself more inclined to speak to Demon and Fey currently, hoping to teach her daughters about their own race's customs.
Thoughts on her Own Race:
xxx She's curious about her roots, yet isn't one to really go hunting for those answers. She's more focused on providing for her daughter than digging up the past. That doesn't mean, however, that she isn't excited every time she meets a new Grimm to possibly befriend.
Thoughts on School:
xxx Elsie has enjoyed schooling ever since she was a freshling. There were hard subjects, sure, but she's never hated it. There's a thrill to learning new things.
xxxGoing to Grendel University has started to feel like home, though she hopes to graduate sooner rather than later so she can start working.

RP Prompt Quote: A smart-mouthed peer just told your Nightmare that they're a failure to their race. How do they react?
"What? You don't even know anything about your race, I think that's pretty close to a failure." The Imp girl put her hands on her hip, she was a fair foot shorter than Elsie and it must have been some attempt to feel powerful. In most instances, Elsie would have had to squash the motherly instinct to protect someone smaller than herself; that wasn’t an option today.
"I might not know much about my race, but you... you know less than I do! You're not even a Grimm, so how dare you say that," how rarely she felt the desire to punch someone in the face. She was just insulted at the gall of the one before her.
“At least I know something other than the basics of my race.” The sass was real and Elsie’s patience was quickly fading.
“Have you had a non-imp history class? You realize there aren’t many Grimm around anymore, right? That we were almost wiped out? That I was an orphan and didn’t know of any Grimm until I was a junior?” she knew that she would regret bringing in the personal bit of information, but right now, she was trying to make a point, “I know as much about my race as the other races do and probably more than you do. I’m trying to learn more about my race as more information comes out. You should check your own knowledge of current events before calling someone a failure.”
“What the heck, my current events are up to date? You’re the one that’s out of date and just waiting to die out,” there was a slight quiver in her voice, obviously intimidated by the woman before her.
“We’ve survived this long, though your own survival might be in question if you keep acting like this.” She cringed internally at the threat, but she was done with this whole situation. “Now leave me alone.”

Thoughts:￭ What's family life like for Elise, Ash, and Antsy? You already have bits here, but I'm curious as to what a typical day looks like, so to speak. (Does Elsie have an apartment or student housing? Do Ash and Antsy live at the Academy while she's in Uni?) ￭ What's Elsie's plans after Uni? Will she open her own line right away, or does she get a more basic job first for income before her line takes off? Just questions that elaborate more on what you already have here! Everything looks good though, and I can't wait to meet her :3 Approved!
