Adoption Game

Opens: December 1st
Closes: December 31st, 11:59 PM EST

Some children are not lucky enough to have families or be in the academy. Some kids are still in an orphanage, waiting to go home to a loving family. Sadly, some kids may not have this dream fulfilled this year! Do you have a Nightmare who has graduated the academy who wants to take home a child?

The goal of this game is to write a RP response of your senior either meeting a child at the orphanage and making a genuine connection, or writing a letter about their dream to be a parent.

          Rules:
          • This contest is completely free.
          • You may only enter once.
          • You may not decide what the child looks like. While you can tell us in-character reasoning for why they wouldn't take a certain race home, you may not indicate colors or edits. These children are surprise gifts.
          • Your Nightmare must have graduated the academy to enter this game.
          • Your Nightmare must remain the parent of the child. The game's purpose is to give a child a new home, and in-character your Nightmare should remain their adopted parent.
          • You may make up NPC parents, we encourage participants to quest for their parent so long as those parents do not have blood-related children that already exist in the shop, since that conflicts with our no-mock rule.
          • If you edit your post, please label in red at the top of your post that you've edited something, and the date when.
          • Anyone can enter, whether they are a newbie or not!
          • Staff may enter this contest!
          • Whining, guilt-tripping, or generally misbehaving over the contest will result in you being disqualified.
          • Aggressive hinting about the contest counts as guilt-tripping and whining, and general misbehavior.
          • Make sure you've read the Guide to the Worlds forum in its entirety!
          • You may not proxy for another person.
          • You may not gift or trade prizes from this event. If you dislike the character given to you then you may give it back to the shop.
          • Staff may not home a child until the event is over.

Do Not's: Do you have any Races you simply cannot handle? You may list up to 2 Races that you do not want. Any more than that will disqualify your entry!

Entry: To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Xochi. I am a demon and current student at Asphodel Academy, belonging to House Enoch. As much as I am devoted to my studies of the sciences and the betterment of all nightmare life, I have found myself yearning for companionship that no familiar can give to me. My memory of growing in an orphanage was one of joy, and I do not seek to take a child from the loving embrace of the caretakers.

Still, I feel like I can provide for a child something that perhaps no orphanage can, and no caretaker is capable of... A home. A place where they can feel welcome and safe and always, always, loved. I might not have imbued their stone, but my heart still yearns to let them know how much they mean to me. As a scientist I find my yearnings peculiar. Perhaps I am just of the age where all nightmares yearn for a family... Or perhaps I am more maternal than I had first thought.

A child in my care would want for little and have a stellar education, both from the academy which has raised me to be extremely intelligent, and my own gentle tutoring. No matter what the child looks like, no matter the race, or disability they may have, I only wish to nurture them and raise them to help out the nightmare land as I hope to do. An effort alone is hardly worth describing, but an effort between a parent and their child a great story makes.

Perhaps this seems a little... Cold or not emotional enough. Perhaps you are worried that I am too focused on education and my studies. These worries come to my mind as well... But I cannot help but feel excitement in the prospect of taking care of a little one. Of having a little freshling of my own, to care for and nurture. Please consider this when reading my letter. I hope you find a child who would flourish in my care...

Respectively Yours,

Xochi

Yami stared at the doors in front of him. If Yun hadn’t stepped up to the plate all those years back and manned up to his drunken mistake Yami could have grown up at an orphanage. He could have been one of those children in there that was wondering why they couldn’t have a family. Yami would be a good parent, or at least he hoped he would be a good parent, he had always loved people after all, and children where just more innocent and less knowledgeable versions of adults. It also didn’t help that Yami had always wanted kids, tons of kids if he could get away with it. He often joked that he was going to end up as a caretaker when he was growing up.

The only problem was his current career path wasn’t exactly stable for children. He wasn’t exactly just the café owner everyone thought he was. Children would be a weakness. However if there was anything that Yami was, it was extremely careful. He made sure that the two lives didn’t conflict. To tell the truth though, Yami was lonely. He hadn’t seen any of his academy friends since graduating and there wasn’t currently any one special yet that he could imbue soul stones. Besides everyone deserved family to spend Christmas with and he really truly wanted to give a child the right to have a family for Christmas. He was just sad he couldn’t take all of them home.
He didn’t have much family to share with them, just himself and his dad but it would be something right? Of course nothing would happen if he didn’t walk through those doors for himself. Shaking his head he walked the last few steps and through the open archway.

Of course walking through the door was proving to be the easiest thing. His plan of giving a child a family was proving to be difficult. He of course had mentioned he loved children and singling just one out to take home was obviously pretty hard. It also didn’t help that his eyes being two different colors and accented by black sclera looked at times a bit frightening so at first all the children were scared of him. Well he thought they were all scared of him. There was a tug on his pants and he was met face to face with the biggest smile he had ever seen. Even more amazing was that the child didn’t seem to be afraid of Yami at all.

“Hello Mr. Did you come to spend time with us. We don’t get too many new people” The child replied. Yami had to hold a smile back before he leaned down to their level.

“I am in fact here to meet you all”
Yami replied. “I’m Yami”

“I’m Amatsu and I just turned six”
Amatsu beamed. “Hey everyone Mr. Yami is here to play with us” and with that Yami was swarmed with children. Yami had a sudden feeling this was going to be a common occurrence while he bonded with the kids. He remembered whenever he had a new friend when he was little he would often do the same thing, he could see his dad laughing at him now.

Sure enough over the next couple of weeks whenever Yami came to visit, Amatsu always spotted him and then it was like a chain reaction as the children all came swarming over to either drag him off to play or use him as a jungle gym causing a lot of the care takers to panic. Of course all good things had to come to an end and his Boss had called him on a job. This was the last time he would have the free time to able to come in for a while.

“Mr. Yami… Mr. Yami”
a small little voice cried out and ran over to tackle hug his legs. Yami looked down to see Amatsu hugging them fiercely. Ah there was that hug he had been expecting. Amatsu was always the first one over and after the second day had always greeted Yami with a hug to the legs.

The day was spent playing with Amatsu and the other kids, Yami had thought he had hidden his melancholy mood well enough but apparently his poker face had failed at some time during the day if what he was asked right before he left was any indication.

“You’re leaving aren’t you…?”

“Yeah… “

“You’ll be back on Monday after the weekend, right… right?”

“I- I don’t know Amatsu” Amatsu’s lower lip wibbled before his eyes teared up and before Yami could react Amatsu had flung himself around and dashed out of the room. Yami definitely wasn’t going to leave the kid on that note.

"No one ever stays around... Everyone always leaves"

“No... I will come back okay. I’ll come back as many times as you want me to come back” Yami finally replied after catching up with the little guy. Yami might have had really long legs.

“Forever and ever?”

“Well forever and ever is a really long time but I’ll try my best to always come by and say hi”,
but could it really be forever and ever? It was clear the fates had decided. Yami looked forward to seeing Amatsu as much as the kid seemed to and the orphanage hadn’t denied him yet. He could adopt Amatsu. No He would try to adopt Amatsu after all he had a forever and ever promise to try to make come true.

Entry: Kaoru had been fixated on designing and making children's clothes for a while now. It was the imp's way of preparing a nest of sorts, in hopes of one day soon having a child to actually dress in some of those clothes. He had no mate, but the desire to nurture and love was still strong. Initially he had simply thought of imbuing a soul stone on his own, but as the Solstice grew nearer, he was reminded that there were still numerous orphans in Below - and surely Above, too, all of whom were sure to wish for nothing more than a home of their own. Perhaps the first step he should take towards parenthood was offering a family to one such a child?

However, he was a little too shy to actually make a visit to the orphanage. What if he just fell in love with all the children? He couldn't possibly adopt them all.
So instead, Kaoru figured he'd do what he was best at - send a whole variety of the clothes he'd already made to the orphanage as a donation, and let the staff there know of his desire to adopt a child. He already had a large box full of various styles and sizes, including dress-up costumes for games the children might think of.

Now it was time to sit down to write a letter to accompany the package.

Greetings,
My name is Kaoru and I'm a student at Grendel University. As you may be able to deduce from the contents of my donation package, I specialize in fashion. I have included a variety of clothes that I hope will bring some joy to the little ones in your care at this time of the year.
As the Winter Solstice grows near, it is my fondest wish to offer a home to one of your charges, as I find there is a void in my life only another soul can fill. While I know my studies are not quite finished yet, I would do my utmost to provide a loving, caring home to one of the unfortunate children who do not yet have that.
I look forward to a response from you, and would be happy to schedule a visit at your convenience.

Best regards,
Kaoru

Elsie stood at the front gate of the orphanage, staring at the decorations that they had put up for the season. The nervousness that left her pacing infront of the gates previously was absent, most likely because of the demon whose hand clutched her own. She was so thankful for the daughter that she had adopted from this very place not too long ago; the little demon kept her calm and centered.

"Are you ready to head in, Ash?"

"Yes, mama," the little girl beamed. She was the reason that they were here now, especially at her small request the week before.

Over dinner after classes, Ash started with a surprising question. "Can I have a sibling, mom?" The Grimm nearly spit out her food at the request, but asked what brought that idea up. The demon was often daydreaming and she found herself curious as to what lead to that train of thought. "Well, I know how happy I was to be adopted by you and I thought that it would be nice to have another family member to spend the holiday with..." Jumping up from her seat, she grinned, "MAYBE. We could even adopt another sibling!"

"Well, we'll have to see. I can't make any promises, Ash." she said with a soft smile. The Grimm had never thought of adopting so soon, but she had to admit, it would be nice... Ash was her happiness and light; wouldn't two children be even better? The idea bounced in her idea for awhile. It didn't take long for her to lean towards adoption once more. Elsie had checked her accounts and made sure that all of the necessary things had been in place before agreeing. And now, here they were walking through the doors of the orphanage.

"Good evening Lee, would it be possible to visit the children?"

"Of course, Ms. Elsie. You can head right in," the receptionist smiled and leaned over her desk, "And hello Ash!" Ash smiled and waved to the receptionist. She had spoken volumes about how nice Lee was.

"Thank you, Lee." They stepped through to the play room, and the children turned to look. "Ash is back!" one cried out as they stood up. The others started smiling, but the one standing caught Elsie's attention. They pushed their way up and bounded to the demon. For their small stature, they nearly knocked down Ash (Elsie had to stifle the panic that welled up in her chest). "Why are you back?! Is she giving you up?" The little one's eyes were tearing up as she hugged her friend."

"No, Antsy, this is my mama! We're looking to get me a sibling." The little demon kept on hugging "Mama, this is Antsy, er, Anstice. They're my best friend here in the orphanage." Elsie lowered herself onto her knees, smiling at the little one. They were wiping away the tears that had bunched up in their eyes.

"It's nice to meet you, Antsy. I'm Elsie." she offered a paw, which the child gingerly accepted. It left Elsie wondering if they had much contact with Grimm, but she pushed it aside. "Tell me about yourself?"

"Well, I'm Ash's best friend. I like Vespercats and Gryftoo and I want to work with animals when I'm older."

"I have a Gryftoo, Antsy!"

"WHAT?! You need to bring it over! Tell me about it!"

"Well, he's....."

At that point, the conversation was gone; the children jabbered, discussing what had happened since Ash was adopted as they made their rounds and the joy of Gryftoo's. Elsie had to grin at the friendship, and she found Antsy sweet. Ash kept holding Antsy's hand as they chatted with the other children. It was pretty obvious who was going to be coming home with them. "Ash, I'm going to go talk to the office. You can keep playing with Antsy in the mean time, okay?" Ash and Antsy were sure to be excited about the news. Their little family was going to be growing, not only with a new sibling, but with a best friend.

Ziron sat at their desk as they thought of what to write to the orphanage. They had recently graduated from Grendel, and were hoping to adopt a freshling into their family ranks. Perhaps it was because of their Geist heritage, but they wanted to have a big family. What better way than to adopt?

Finally thinking of what to say, Ziron got to work writing their words onto the paper. Hopefully they would be able to bring one of those adorable freshlings home. All young freshlings were quite adorable in Ziron's eyes.

To Whom It May Concern,

Our name in Ziron, a litch and geist hybrid. We are wishing to perhaps adopt a child from you, as we wish to grow our family. Currently it is only one, that being I. We wish to grow our family for a few reasons, this letter having been written because we have recently graduated and have gotten a job in our career of choice.

We have wanted to have our very own family since we were little, but never had one of our own. There was no one who wanted us, but we don't want another young one to feel like that. We want to bring them into our family, to make sure they feel loved and wanted. We want to bring it upon ourselves to make sure they feel loved and wanted, and that they have a bright future ahead of them too.

Another reason is we have recently gotten into the work force, and have been making money. Although lots of money is nice, we want to share it with someone. Who better than a family? Not only that, but our line of work is that of a stay at home, so we would have lots of time to spend with our little one. Time spent with them is very important, and we know that we will be able to give it to them.

Besides all this, we like children. They can be so cute, but we also like just being with them and helping them to understand the world around them. We see freshlings as such curious creatures, and we wish to help them with this curiosity in a safe manor so they do not get hurt. They may be really curious, but they are not indestructible.

There are many reasons to want a child, but we want one because we want to help them feel loved, welcomed, provided for, and help them to learn the world around them. Sure we may be new to this whole parent thing, but if we can help even one child to have a family, then it is all worth it.

Sincerely,
Ziron

Entry: Tambre smoothed out some of her hair and mused, she drew in a deep breath, eyeing the building. She was a bit torn. She had just adopted a wonderful little child during the Halloween season. She loved Kiessi with all her heart, but she still couldn't help the feeling of wanting more little ones to fill her home. She hadn't wanted Kiessi to feel unloved in any sense of the word, but she couldn't help but feel this tug as the Orphanage opened it's doors again. Regardless, she wanted to help out, even if they didn't think it was right to allow her to adopt again so soon.

Gathering up her courage, she stepped inside. She greeted the caretakers, giving them a soft smile as she approached. "May I.. help? I'd love to have some time to get to know all the children, and help out in any way possible.." That had started a small ritual in which Tambre appeared at the Orphanage every morning helping out in any way possible, including cooking meals and playing with them.

Tambre put in most of her free time there. She began to fall in love with all the children, but she couldn't help but feel even more for one in particular. She smiled gently, showing a patience that others who knew her outside of the Orphanage would never believe. "I got you some'theng.." A little voice said, holding up a small box for her to examine.

"Oh really? What might it be?" She sat down beside the little freshling, pulling her legs close enough to offer a seat for the child to sit upon. She began to carefully unwrap the little package and opened it, smiling when she saw a cute little bracelet made of small bits of candy and popcorn covered in glitter. "It's beautiful! I love it!" She nibbled on her lip, feeling pride welling up in her stomach as she let the child place the bracelet around her wrist. "I'll keep it forever."

"Really?" The child asked, eyes wide in appreciation.

"Of course." She cooed and gently poked the child's nose. "Now.. I'm making a list for all the kids here.. What kind of present would you like?" Her voice was incredibly calm and soft.

The child frowned for a moment and nuzzled in closer to her body. "I... I can't say.." They shook their head back and forth and sealed their mouth.

"Why not?" She asked, gently lifting the child's face so she could see their eyes. "I promise, whatever it is.. I'll get it for you."

The freshling shifted uncomfortably. looking toward the ground. "I... I... I want... I want to... go home.. with you..." The child stuttered. "Please...?"

Tambre frowned and held the child close. Her eyes began to fill with tears as she looked up toward the other caregivers. "I promise.. I'll find a way to take you home.." She smiled for a brief moment, feeling the warm little body pressed to hers.

Keira smiled to herself as she walked towards one of the orphanages. After imbuing a stone for her first time, she had been focusing her studies a little more on raising a child. In her readings, there was mention of children having stronger social skills as well as a few other benefits from having a sibling. Sure, her decision to go out an adopt a kid was a little rash but her decision wasn't solely based off of a playmate for her child to be. After being put into the academy as an orphan herself, Keira had planned to adopt in the future. She wanted a chance at bettering a child's life and giving them what they need and deserve.

Upon entering the building, her little grin widened into a much larger one. There were so many adorable freshlings running around! With all there energy, she really wanted to just run around with them all but she couldn't. She was there for a reason. The red head looked around some more, not seeing any particular child popping out into her interests. She expected as much, you can't just pick out a kid all willy nilly... You had to make sure you were a good match for the kid; make sure you can give them what they need.

Keira sat down at a table with some of the children who were doing arts and crafts or homework. She leaned in to see what one of the kids were working on. "Oh, what do you have there?" She asked with a smile. The child looked up to her a bit startled but quickly regained their composure. They pushed their textbook towards Keira, showing her their math book. Keira took a look at it then looked back to the other. "Math, i bet you were out playing like the other kids." Keira started to say, wanting to invite the other to play a game with her but the child shook their head. Keira looked at her curiously, waiting for an explanation but got nothing. "Do... You like math?" She asked.

The child nodded, giving Keira a little smile before pointing to their paper. Keira looked at it, noticing that they had been stuck on a problem. "Oh, would you like help on your homework?" The child nodded. Keira smiled and scooted closer to them then pulled the book closer. She started to help them, finishing an hour or so later. "Thank you." They said quietly, closing their book and putting their stuff away then motioning for Keira to follow them to snack table. Of course she followed the little freshling and ate with them.

When the child was busy, Keira moved to discuss taking the child she'd spent a majority of her time there with. Sure, the child didn't speak much while she helped them but... She felt for the kid already... So now she just had to see if she could finalize everything.

Do Not's: Nope! All are welcome by Dodger <3

Entry:
Dodger had been having a total blast spending time with his girlfriend and winning prizes and such at the festival. The thing about it was, he had managed to win all these stuffed animals but really had no reason to have them. As he had sat on his bed after work, the Grimm stared at the plushies about his room that stared right back at him. They needed love. Who else was best to love plushies than little Freshlings?! That was that and he began packing up a bunch of different plushies, leaving Kabosu's alone. That crazy little mutt would go nuts if it's plushie was taken away. With a big ol grin, Dodger bundled up and tossed the bag of stuffed toys over his shoulder. "Off to the orphanage! Let's give these kids something to smile about!"

So he made his way back to familiar grounds that he hadn't seen in ages. It was a surreal thing being back here. He hadn't seen this place since before going into the academy. Even though it wasn't a place with parents, the kids were lucky to be in good hands until they had them! Shaking off some emotional feels that were beginning to nag at him at the corner of his eyes, Dodger adjusted the bag over his shoulder and headed inside.

After making sure it was okay to give the little tykes the plushies, he made his way to the play area. It still felt the same like when he was a lil 'un. Reaching into the bag after he set it down, he pulled out a couple plushies and held them out to a couple little kids that were at a table coloring. They were so cute and made him laugh as they happily snitched up their new toys. Yes. This was a good reason to have all those plushies. To give them to the kids and make their day all the happier for it.

After running back and forth between the bag and kids a few times, it seemed he had gotten everyone! But then he heard rustling in the bag behind him. A cute little kiddo had decided to go plushie fishing! With a laugh, Dodger carefully picked them up and set them down. "Did I miss you? I'm so sorry little kiddo! Here!" and grabbing the bag, Dodger held it in between the two of them. Why don't you go ahead and pick something out." The way their face lit up made Dodger feel like he had eaten a bunch of Vespercats... all warm and fuzzy inside.

Sitting down, making sure he wasn't in anyone else's way, of course, he patted his knee. "Hey. Come talk to me for a bit, huh?" He couldn't help feeling like he needed to spend time with this little kid. Maybe it was the longing he knew when he was their age to have a mommy or daddy to spend time with. He knew he always wanted to be a part of a big family, and it hadn't happened just yet. It might at some point if things kept going well with his girlfriend, but he couldn't help feeling like maybe this was something he could do. Should do. Give this little kid what he didn't get to have as a Freshling. He decided that he was going to talk to someone about being their daddy!

Eileen pushed her back up against her large pillow on her bed. Her crystal flip book was on her lap and a word document was up on the screen. She'd been thinking about this her whole senior year at the academy. Eileen wanted this more than anything. It may seem soon, espically since she just graduated but she wanted a child.

She sighed. Eileen knew what to write. Her hands moved over to her keyboard and her fingers started typing.

Dear whomever,

I am Eileen, a graduate from Nightmare academy and currently a new student at Grendel. I'm a Baphomet who did not know her parents. I always longed to know them or, at least be adopted to a loving family but I never experienced that feeling. I grew up without a family and due to that I wish to create one of my own.

Deep down, I yearn for children of my own be it from my genes or adopted. I don't care as long as I can give love to them and provide them with a loving home that I was short of. I will be their new mother and I will love them til the day I die. Nothing will stop that.

I will be able to watch over them and help them achieve their dreams. I will push them to become better then themselves but in a kind loving way. Even though I am kind, I will be strict when I need to be. Their creativity will always be encouraged and will love them no matter what.

Even though I am a working student, it will show my children that working and going to school is important. But, I will not put my school or work over my child. They will always come first. Hopefully you will see how serious I am and let me raise a child from your orphanage. Thank you for reading.

Sincerely,

Eileen

"To Whom it May Concern,

My name is Raala. During one of your overflow periods years ago, I fostered a precious young Imp girl by the name of Miah, who lost her parents in a terrible accident. Some might recall that shortly afterwards, I officially adopted Miah.

Miah has recently graduated the Academy and has moved on to further her education at Grendel University, thus leaving me at home alone, with a home big enough to once again raise a child. I would like to do just that.

I would like to give another child within your orphanage a home. Ever since Miah has moved out I have felt a void in my heart that I know can only be filled by giving a happy life to another child. There would not be a day in their life where they will lack a smile on their face. I currently have a steady job from home that allows me to constantly care for a child while also providing all things necessary for them.

If any of your children are looking for someone to call "mother", and perhaps an older Nightmare to call "sister"--which I am certain there are--I would love to meet them.

Thank you,

Raala

Her gaze darted to one paper in particular, hidden under all the others. This one was different, though. Not a piece of homework from one of her students. No, this was her own paper and one that was causing her mind to wander. She pushed some of the other papers to the side and pulled the sheet out. Various questions lined the paper, front and back — each one answered already. The only thing left was to write a letter, saying why she wanted to adopt a child.

She glanced over the questions, eyes narrowing on a few in particular. On the one where race was questions, Ishy had made sure to check every one of the options. While she would rather have a race different than her own, she wouldn’t deny an imp that needed a home. Her heart and home were open to whomever may need a place. She worried, though, that her being single may somehow prevent her from adopting. Sighing, Ishy put her pen to paper. She knew that she wouldn’t get a thing done until she had this all out of the way.

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Ishy Banir and I’m 32 years old. I’m a graduate of Grendel University and currently have a job as the photography teacher at the academy. I have always had a desire to have children and recently, because of my job as a teacher, adoption has become an interest of mine. While I want to eventually have children that are biologically mine, I also want to give a child, that was unwanted, a chance at a different and better life. I would be honored to be able to do this.

Being a teacher at the academy means that I will be able to make sure they have the best education possible, even if it is not with the house I teach in. They will want for nothing and will be filled with love and endless possibilities. I would support them in whatever they wanted to do with their life and give them praise and encouragement.

My home is a moderate size but is large enough for a child or two. I live in a good neighborhood and don’t plan on leaving any time soon. There is a large backyard and should I be allowed to adopt, I have plans to add in a play set for them. My home, and heart, are open to any child that may need them both.

I hope that you consider me for adoption, as it would make me extremely happy.

Tangled Puppet

Sincerely,
Ishy Banir

Ishy stared at the short letter, going over it several times to make sure that no mistakes were there and that everything was in order. When she was completely satisfied, she folded it up and tucked it into its envelope and sealed it shut. After she finished grading her students’ papers, she would head off to mail the adoption application off.

Entry: Tamandani sat heavily at her desk and looked around her classroom. She had finally gotten it completely set up and it was ready to receive students who wanted to learn. Just now though...it seemed empty. It was very like her home at the moment. She never minded the quiet before, but lately it just seemed as though something were missing. She was beginning to feel lonely. With a soft smile, she pulled out a pen and a sheet of paper. She knew just how she could go about making her life and home more lively.

To Whom it May Concern:

My name is Tamandani, and I am the professor of Divination at Grendel University. I have always believed in seeing signs everywhere in life and it has gotten me to where I am now. Lately, there seems to be something missing from my life and I have searched my surroundings and made use of my divining knowledge to see what the Nine may have in store for me. But it wasn't until recently that I've realized it may not be the signs, instead it's been my interpretation of them.

I always thought that to have a family, I would need to meet someone and fall in love. The traditional way. But the other day, I met some freshlings from an orphanage on a field trip and I was amazed at how so many of them still believed that all things are possible. It was then that I realized I didn't need anyone else to start a family. Just because that's how most families get their start, it doesn't mean my family has to start that way. And while I realized I could have imbued a soul stone of my very own, I wanted to help at least one freshling who was already here but with no family to call their own.

As a professor, I am well acquainted with the school system and I could help a little one should they need it. I would encourage them to find things they like to do, not just elective classes but clubs and friends outside school. I can provide endless love and understanding, and a home full of the same.

I hope you consider me a good candidate, and I thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Tamandani

She sat back then and sighed when she finished her letter. She hoped it was enough. With a smile, she slid it into an envelope and gathered her things. Today she would be making a stop before she made her way home.

To whom it may concern,

Hello recently I was on break from University and I happened to stop by your orphanage on my way to the academy festival this year. While I was there I had the opportunity to play with several of the children and tell them all about going to the academy and growing up. The joy and wonder I saw in those little faces made me want to just take one home with me to be honest. I am a Nixie student attending Leviathan University so I am quite used to adapting to different environments. Furthermore I am used to having to take care of special requirements for self care such as skin moistening lotion so should I happen to be lucky enough to adopt a child I am sensitive to their needs should they have any extra health requirements for their safety.

I know there are a number of other potential parents out there who are just as loving and nurturing as myself who want to take a child home and I can’t say anything about having a void in my heart or soul. The simple truth is I have a wonderful life and I want the chance to share it with a child and help them have a bright and amazing future that all children should be entitled too. I understand if my request gets denied should others with more to offer a child appear but I hope you will consider my request for adopting one of your children.

Happy holidays and may you find safe and loving homes for all the children.

Warmest regards,

Krol

To him the idea of an orphanage was such a sad one, he had of course grown up in one himself and remembers many cold lonely nights here. Reaching the steps of the building she could feel himself visibly shake, he was never mistreated of course. It was more the lingering loneliness that he was remembering now. He was greeted by the head mistress and brought inside. "I understand you wish to take a child home today? What did you have in mind?"

This question was something he had thought of alot but honestly couldn't come up with a solid answer for. "I'm not really sure, that makes it sound like it's a choice. I guess I'll just know." He was then lead into the room where there were children of all different races and sizes playing. He stood in the doorway watching them for a little while before a little one came up to him and said in the most innocent angelic voice he had ever heard, "What are you some sort of weirdo? Are you going to play with us or not?" and just like that he was swept up in the game that the children had been playing.

After a fun filled day laughing and playing games with the children there, he was worn out like never before, but also amazingly content. "So have you made up your mind yet?" The headmistress sad to him. He thought for a moment but knew deep in his heart that he would be giving his home and his heart to the little one who had made him laugh and engaged in a whole day of fun.
