"I swear, after I get that jacking ore, that villager will be lucky if I don't set something on fire," Kari grumbled as she once again began making her way up the glacier. After four times sliding down the frozen path, she was cold, tired, and very, very irritated. The cold probably had quite a bit to do with her sour mood, but repeated failures certainly didn't help in the slightest. If it wasn't for her determination to see the job through, she would have just labeled it a pointless venture and sought a warmer location. At times, she seriously debated her sanity if she was willing to put herself in these situations on such a regular basis.

Pulling out her staff, she decided to try digging it into the ice so she could use it to stabilize herself and create grooves so she could catch herself if she fell again. Then she realized she could use fire and just heat up her staff to melt some grooves into the ice. A tiny part of her mind berated herself for not thinking of using such a method sooner, but she blocked it out in an effort to complete her task faster.

One... Two... Three... one by one, a trail of grooves began crawling up the ice in the reaper's wake. Kari had to admit that gouging and melting away the ice was strangely calming and made for some nice anger management. By the time she was halfway to her target, her temper had already calmed to match the environment. As her temper waned, she felt a bit sheepish in the face of her behavior. Usually, she wouldn't get so revved up over something like this. Was something about the environment effecting her? Had that bite from the minipet earlier really done something to her?

Seeing that her train of thought was venturing towards dark avenues, she shut it down and continued her task in gouging out chunks and melting the remainders of ice to use as footholds.

RP Mechanics
Your character has been invited by a villager to harvest on top of the remote glacier infringing on the northern outskirts of the village. What an honour!

- The walk is very steep and treacherous. You are allowed to harvest as much as you'd like until you slip and fall down the glacier all the way back to town (must remake thread). This quest is only considered completed if you get the rare machalite ore.

Roll 1d6 and continue rolling until you slip and fall back to town OR get the machalite ore. Really, whatever comes first. Make sure to rp it out.

1. You spot some beautiful crystal fragments. You manage to get the machalite ore!
2. You get distracted by a pile of bones and gather some bone fragments that are ultimately useless because you're not a gunner
3. You get distracted by some honey. It is delicious.
4. You get distracted by a pile of herbs. You pick some herbs and ask the villager what they are. He says "herbs". They are barely edible.
5. You accidentally slip and fall back to town! Oh no! (Quest fail!)
6. You find a great spot to fish but you didn't bring your fishing rod.

Almost there. As Kari placed her staff into the ice once more, she carved out a space and hoisted herself forward, placed her foot into the notch, and repeated the process a few feet farther. A chilly wind blew through, momentarily stopping the her in her tracks and eliciting a shiver from the reaper. Rubbing her fingers with her thumbs, she realized that she was beginning to lose feeling in her digits. She needed to finish her task soon, or she would probably freeze to death. She had to admit that quite some time had been invested trying to get to the ore sitting atop the glacier.

"And... got you!," the tired reaper cheered as she reached out and managed to place one hand around the highly sought-after Machalite Ore. Checking at the base, her joy was short-lived with how deep down the ore was buried in the ice. Working the staff into a groove, she began heating it up so she could create a wide enough gap to slip the ore out from. Feeling the heat seep into her fingers from the staff as the ice around the edges of the ore slowly began to melt, Kari huddled down to try to block out as much of the wind as possible. At this rate, the reaper was going to develop frostbite, and had only prevented it this long with the constant heating of her staff. Her energy couldn't hold out forever, though, between energizing her staff to melt away the ice and keeping herself warm.

At last, the ore began to shift slightly. Digging the staff deeper into the groove, Kari managed to wedge the tip under the ore. Using the weapon as a lever, she was able to ease the Machalite out of the hole it had previously rested in. Grabbing hold of it, Kari used the hole to push off. The sudden motion sent her racing back down the glacier, towards the village with her prize.
