Powderstones are notorious for being extremely heavy and unwieldy to carry. A villager has requested this, can you really deny their offer?

- Your character must head into the darkest, deepest volcano interior. Magma oozes at every precipice of this dangerous area. In the smallest, floating island of non-magma touched sediment is a beautiful powderstone. It is about 6 feet tall and extremely hot. It is very difficult to carry it, let alone breathe in here.

- Your character must carry the powderstone out of the lava. Roll 1d4 three times. That is the distance (feet) you carry the powderstone.

- You must reach a distance of 30 feet to get the powderstone out. If you fail, the powderstone drops at the distance you left it at (on your third dice roll). Only other characters can help you now, by coming into the thread, and picking up the rolls. The SAME characters cannot repeat the same thread. You are free even if you carried a stone in a seperate thread, to help out in a new thread!

- Example: Steve starts, and carries the stone. He rolls 3d4 and gets 6. He carried the stone 6 feet. He now cannot post in the thread anymore and exits before he passes out. Jim can now come in to this RP (as long as they are either invited (QUEST PRP) or just hop in (QUEST ORP). Jim rolls 3d4 and gets 3. The rock is now at 9/30 feet carried. Once again, this quest is not successful until the rock has been FULLY carried 30/30 feet. If it is successful, everyone in the thread gets the +2 raffle tickets.

gaia_star If you are the person who carries the rock to 30/30 feet, you get a powderstone. it is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

Brenley lingered nearby, feeling a little guilty that he had just walked up and taken a stone that others seemed very hard pressed to obtain. Most emerged from the volcano coughing and stumbling, complaining of treacherous ground and air so thin that it left them lightheaded almost immediately. Had he been back at school he would have left them to their complaining, but they were in this whole bus crash/Miasma Village thing together. It would stick with him if he didn't at least try to help.

Gesturing at the cloaked figure who had given him the wagon for his powderstone, Bren waited for a nod of acknowledgement before leaving the cart behind and heading up the volcano for the first—and probably last—time. Surprisingly, it wasn't nearly as difficult as climbing the mountain with the eggs, but he was willing to consider the fact that he was just getting used to climbing mountains. Also, there were no insane minipets around, so that might have been a part of it as well. It was probably all of it, if he was being honest.

At least the quiet climb gave him time to think, an activity he was rather fond of. When the bus had first crashed, Bren had regretted getting anywhere near it at all, but now he was beginning to reconsider his discomfort. Sure it was off-putting to be seemingly forced to perform strange, time wasting activities for creatures who rarely showed their faces in a village covered with the most uselessly persistent fog he had ever come across, but at least he was actually doing it this time, instead of lying in bed while his unconscious mind went on adventures for him. Of course, that meant he was in real danger, but he had always been in real danger anyway, from what he understood after the fact. At least now he could only blame himself for his aches and pains.

When he reached the top, the boil was surprised to find that it was a lot less disgusting up here than he thought it would be. Yes, it was difficult to breathe and oppressively hot, but Bren could already see a stone that matched his own on a neat little island in the lava that he could get to by using the metal plank on the shore nearby. He carefully lowered himself into the caldera and had stopped at its side before he realized it was going to be very uncomfortable to touch. It was one thing to breathe in rank volcano air when one didn't technically need to breathe, but burning your hands to uselessness when you still had to crawl your way out of a volcano probably wasn't the best idea.

In the end, Bren decided to use his boots. He removed one and slid it over his hand, hopping on one foot and tugging the plank along until he had it positioned between himself and the island. Once he was re-booted, all it took was a quick hop across the bridge and the powderstone was his. Well, not his, but he did manage to drag it a decent distance before he knew he couldn't go on. Once he had made sure it was safely leaning against a rocky wall away from the lava, Bren looked for a way to climb out, only to notice a strange crack in the volcano's interior and a smudge of ash in the shape of an arrow pointing toward it.

This time, it was him who emerged from the volcano coughing, stumbling, and frowning too. Had that entrance been there the whole time? Why had he climbed the thing then? He could have asked. Instead he retrieved his own powderstone and moved on.

Stone Delivery: 13/30

In her bid for warmth, Camilla found herself at the Volcano. She had seen said Volcano when she was up in the Balloon and it seemed the perfect way to warm up!

Happily, she sits down on a thermally heat rock and just enjoys the warmth... That Balloon ride had taken a bit out of her... Even after coming down she'd still been chilled, and she also still had that funny feeling in her head... Her chest still felt a bit tight as well... The feelings were odd... They didn't hurt... But... Something just felt... Off... Fortunately, the heated rock did it's job splendidly! Soon, she was toasty warm and ready to go!

And with good timing too! As the Dormouse ghoul sat there enjoying the warmth, a cloaked villager looking concerned walks up to her. "S'cuse me, miss? You wouldn't mind helpin' me would ya? See I'm in a bit o' a pickle..." the cloaked villager asks worriedly. "Hm?" she hums curiously as she looks up at him. "Oh! Sure, I'll help! What do you want me to do?" she replies cheerfully. It seemed the villagers didn't like questions but they did like help! Which was fine with her. It seems like her next adventure found her this time!

Looking relieved she agreed, he nods before pointing to a nearby cave entrance. "Thank ye muchly miss! See, there's this big ol' rock in that there Volcano called a Powderstone. They're mighty useful, but they're also mighty heavy too... And... Oh my back... it just ain't what it used teh be... If ye'd be so kind, would ye help fetch that stone out of the cave? Its'in much to heavy teh carry out yerself, but I've asked others teh help too, so I'm sure ye can all get it out!" he explains. Carry something heavy? Camilla was a Monster! She could definitely do that! "Ok! I'll do it!" she announces excitedly and gives a happy tail twirl. This causes the cloaked villager to clap his hands together in delight! "Ah, bless ye miss! The stone s'in the deepest part of yon cave! Mind the magma now ye' hear?" he says happily.

Nodding, she gets up and with a bit of a bounce to her step, heads straight for the cave. However, as she gets there she see's a student she recognizes! Well... sort of recognizes, she could swear she'd seen him in the Knight dream... Now wasn't the time or place to ask about that however. And so, she waits untill he passes by before entering the cave herself.

The inside was a great deal hotter then the outside... Magma oozes from pretty much everywhere and soon she found herself sweating... Well... She had wanted to be warmer... Just not this warm... Still, she had a job to do. The pretty boulder was easy enough to find, and luckily it looked like it'd already been moved a good ways! "Alright! I need to pick it up! Lets see..." she says excitedly before pacing around the boulder. She might have been small at five feet tall and not all that muscular looking, but she was a Monster and she had a Monster's strength! The problem, was the boulder's ungainly shape... It looked easy to roll but not to carry... Still, she was told to carry it so she would.

Another problem the Dormouse ghoul was facing as she tried to find a good way to carry the boulder was, it was just so hot! And the air was thinner too it seemed... By the time she actually got the boulder in her arms she was panting... "Huff... huff... I've got to get this out as far as possible! Huff... huff..." she says through strained breaths as she lifts all six feet of boulder up to chest height! With knees bent and back straight, she carries the boulder one large step at a time. It wasn't heavy so much as it was hot and odd shaped, this ontop of the sweltering thin air soon had her gasping for breath!

Finally, as her chest burned and her arms ached, she had to set it down... Once the boulder was back was down, she leans against it to try and catch her breath in hopes she could pick it up again. It wasn't working however in the hot thin air... Soon, she was feeling light headed and decided she just had to leave it for the next person... Before leaving, she did make note of how far she moved it however.

Once she was outside in the much cooler air, she takes several long deep breaths and leans against a warm rock as the villager shuffles up to her looking concerned. "Are ye ok miss? Was it too hot for ye?" he asks with worry in his voice. Once Camilla got her chest to stop burning and her head to stop spinning, she waves at him a bit to show she was ok. "Huff... I-I'm fine... huff... huff... I-it was hotter in there then I expected... A-and the thin air t-took me by surprise too... huff... huff..." she explains between breaths. The sulfur and smoke hadn't helped either... "O-oh! Huff... huff... But I did move t-the boulder about s-six feet! Huff... huff..." she exclaims breathlessly.

With her job done, she needed to sit down for a while...

Stone Delivery: 19/30

Worrying sick about the undead ghoul going into a flaming and fiery place, Shayne found himself traveling in a heated Volcano in searched for her. "L-Lady Olivia! L-Lady Olivia! L-Lady Olivia are you anywhere around here?" The undead boil called out as he kept walking deeper and deeper into the fiery pits of hell. However, there wasn't any sign of the undead ghoul anywhere. "Oh boy ... I hope she's okay because, it's burning up in here. I hope nothing bad has happen to Lady Olivia." Shayne told himself as he started to worry a lot more now. What if the undead ghoul had falling into the hot lava or what if she was burned to a chirped. He needs to find the sweet undead ghoul now. Before she will die from a heat stoke. Shayne was so worried about the undead ghoul, he had walked right pass a familiar creeple that he knew.

Sooner or later, Shayne found this odd Stone. "What's this?" The undead boil asked himself as he bent over so he could pick up the stone. "Is this the Powder Stone that need to be delivery?" He asked himself as he was going to try to delivery the stone after he found the undead ghoul. So, he continued walking deeper into the fiery pits of hell in search for her once more.

After some time has passed, the heat being to make Shayne feel unwell. "I must .... I must keep going." The undead boil told himself. "I need to find Lady Olivia." The Undead boil mumbled to himself as he kept walking deeper into the flaming pit of melting rocks. Shayne kept going until he dropped to his knees. There isn't anyway the undead boil couldn't go any deeper in the Volcano before he could pass out cold. "I'm sorry, Lady Olivia. I couldn't go any deeper into this flaming pit." Shayne mumbled to himself. Hopeful the undead ghoul was fine."I think ... It's time to get ... Out of here." Shayne added as he picked himself stand back up to his feet. When Shayne finally turned around; he headed back up the flaming path. It wasn't that far inside the volcano to be honest because it was only seventeen feet away from the entice.

However, the seventeen feet seem far away. It felt like a mile or two and this Powder Stone was getting heavy to him. 'I wish ... I didn't come this far in." The undead boil mumbled to himself as he slowly began to walk back towards the exit. It felt like hours for the undead boil as the Powder Stone began to get more warmer and hotter to him until he dropped it on the ground. "H-HOT!" Shayne called out in pained as he shook both of his hands. The undead boil's hands was scorched from the heat. "Man, it's getting really hot in here." Shayne told himself as he was checking his hands out. "There's no way I could carry that thing now." The undead boil said as he looked at the Powder stone. "Probably another person would walk by and delivery it to its rightful owner. After a while, Shayne looked towards the exit and began walking towards it.

The undead boil was lucky for going that far into the Volcano without passing out from the extreme heat. After all, he was an undead wight and he wasn't used to these types of places with extreme heat. When the undead boil made it outside, he dropped to his' knees right beside Camilla. "Puff ... Puff." Shayne was breathing pretty hard as sweat was dripping down his face.

Stone Delivery:: 27/30

Having wandered this way and that, thinking he was about to talk to people but finding oodles more people shaped rocks than he'd intended, the air started getting warmer, and an actual person stopped the wandering bat by yoinking on his tail as he shambled past towards the source of the heat.

"Hey there young man! The air isn't good there and the heat's immense! We ARE in need of a delivery, but don't go foolin yourself a hero and go up there to do it. Head back the way you came, back behind you, alright? No place for a little blind kid to be pokin around..." the peevish yet slightly informative individual explained.

Emma frowned slightly, twitching his ears.
He heard someone make a remark to someone else who'd just come down the mountainside, and seemed like they were taking a break by a boulder. Another came down after her, and he frowned some more.

Were they trying to hoard something? Maybe they were helping deliver whatever thing there was to deliver down to these helpful people? Turning to face the source of the heat, he strode right past those taking a rest and the person whom had tried to steer him clear, and entered the Volcano.

Ambling through, he found he could see better in here, or hear rather. The walls of the volcano echoed his sound waves much better than the fog outside did, and so he quickly made his way through the interior, only very nearly stumbling into magma twice. As he was looking around and not really paying much attention or even fully understanding what he was looking for, he ran into a very large, significantly rounder boulder than the rest.

Circling it, he couldn't really find any good handholds for him to mess with something like this. He wasn't a monster or even a construct, so he didn't have a massive amount of strength really. Opening his gaping three-pronged maw, he attempted to perhaps chomp on the rock, burning his tounge and the roof of his mouth in the process.

"GAH! eff owndry I aad erdicted mah own ubris!" he managed to (rather dramatically honestly) proclaim, snapping his large mouth shut quickly. But while he had no physical strength to speak of, his jaw strength was quite impeccable, the motion of his fangs from all three openings catching on the powderstone just enough to shake it until it slid on some magma, rolling softly to a stop about eight more feet away.

Laying his ears flat against his head, Emma panted softly, grinding his jaws until they popped back into place neatly. It was starting to get intensely hotter, and now that he'd burnt himself a bit, he was not at all inclined to stay somewhere hot and uncomfortable, better visibility or no. Not to mention the dizziness slowly sinking in was making his directional skills a little worse than usual.

Nearly walking FARTHER into the volcano, Emerys was starting to wilt a bit from the heat and stifling air, his tail dropping at the most fortunate time for him to trip over it and tumble backwards, rolling past the powderstone and back out until he hit one of the boulders at the entrance. Flicking his ears happily at the temperature change, he stayed laying on the ground splayed out like he was going to take a nap.

"If every grape turned to wine, we wouldn't have raisins," he remarked nonchalantly, shrugging his shoulders as he lie on the ground, angling his head towards the old man. "I'm sorry I couldn't get your big hot rock for you....there's lots of other rocks down here though that might be easier for you to get, we should lay on those instead, okay? It'd be much nicer nesting with everyone in a pile down here than up there anyways."

It was hot. As in 'melt your skin off the bone' hot.

That was the overall impression Kari was given as she made her way to the volcano to retrieve a Powderstone. Just the climb up to the mouth was a daunting task, and it made her completely understand why she'd been begged so adamantly to perform the task despite how the villagers had been avoiding her like the plague previously. What did they care if something happened to some random stranger? It was no skin off their back if she never came back, and if she managed to return in one piece, they got a Powderstone. It was a win-win situation for the villagers, and all they had to do was sit back while Kari made the trek.

Even with her affinity to fire and heat in general, the reaper mage still felt fairly uncomfortable in her surroundings. She could only imagine what it would be like for those weak to such heat. Tugging at her scarf, she quickly replaced it as the smell of the area hit her. The noxious fumes were nothing to sneeze at either... or maybe a lot to sneeze at if you accidentally inhaled them. The smell of rotten eggs permeated the land, making the ghoul thankful that she had a nice, thick scarf to cover her nose and mouth with so she only had to take brief whiffs whenever she needed some ventilation.

Arriving at the mouth of the cave, Kari was surprised to find the Powderstone was only a few feet in from the entrance. Hadn't the villager that begged her to fetch the stone said it was in the dead center of the cave? Entering a cave with dangerous lava pools and deadly fumes had been a big part of the reasoning for not wanting to make the journey, not to mention the stone itself was supposed to be incredibly heavy. Could someone have brought the item here? Were they still around? If they were, they might be in trouble.

"Hello? Is anyone here?," Kari shouted into the cave past the stone. There was nothing. Walking a small ways past the stone, she scanned the path in search of an unconscious body. None was evident, and that made Kari fear the worst as she edged closer to the ledge where an angrily glowing lava flow drifted back and forth.

Trying to put the thought of burning corpses out of her mind, she made her way back over to the stone. It was bigger than she was. Could she really lift this? Bending her knees down, she attempted to work her fingers under the stone. After a minute of digging out some ground underneath, Kari lifted... or at least attempted to. This thing was heavy. "What is this made out of? There's no way I'm going to be able to carry this all the way back to the village!" What was the old man thinking, sending a small ghoul like herself to perform this task? No... it could be done... she just had to get creative. If she couldn't lift it, she just had to find another way to move it. Jogging back to the mouth of the cave, the ghoul began searching around for something long and flat.

A smile lit upon her face as she remembered some old, dead trees a ways back. Jogging down the path for a minute or two brought her to a small expanse filled with trees, perhaps killed off by the nearby volcano's influence. Digging her fingers into one of the trees, she was able to carefully negotiate a long slab of bark off the tree. she could make a sled with this. Taking the slab back to the mouth of the cave, Kari made two holes on each side of the slab and grudgingly took off her scarf to loop through the holes. Sliding her makeshift sled towards the Powderstone, she just managed to get the stone to slip onto the end of the bark sled. Jogging back to the front, the ghoul tried not to cough as she picked up the ends of her scarf and started pulling. Even then, it was hard... but she was moving the stone.

As the sky began to grow dim, Kari finally arrived back at the assigned destination. The only problem was, no one else was there. Had this just been an elaborate prank? If so, Kari wasn't laughing. Still, even if the stone was jackably heavy, it was very pretty. It would be a great shame to just leave it sitting here, but she also wanted her scarf back around her neck.

A quick look around her supplied a lone cart leaning against a decrepit shed. Surely, no one would miss it, especially after all the trouble she went to bringing the stone back.
