Staring up at the mountain, Kari felt a sense of deja vu. Why did it seem like everything important was at the top of a tall mountain, in the middle of a spooky forest, or at the bottom of a treacherous cave? Why couldn't the villlagers ask her to run errands or something that didn't involve potential death? And for what? A precious heirloom? A mysterious artifact? No... it was all for an egg!

Letting out a huff of resignation, Kari began searching for the best place to start her climb up the cliff face. Finding an alcove in the rock, Kari began her climb. After a while of climbing and avoiding rocks and other falling debris, the vertical ascent turned a bit more horizontal, much to Kari's relief. Along the way, Kari had to avoid a slew of hazards ranging from more debris to the disgruntled wildlife. Avoiding a hole that emanated a particularly threatening noise, the ghoul broke out into a run when she saw the summit.

She was a bit underwhelmed to find nothing but a nest holding a couple egg. They were actually a pretty ugly shade of green, and if she was honest with herself, she would go so far as to say they looked diseased. Was this really what she was looking for? It was certainly an abandoned nest like the villagers said. Giving another look around for any potential nest owners, Kari climbed into the nest towards the eggs. Just one egg was about as big as she was. It would definitely be hard to carry, especially for the last bit of the descent.

Oh well, she had to at least try before she wrote it off.

RP Mechanics
It seems as if the villagers now want you to collect some eggs. Some untainted, un-miasma fused precious wyvern eggs from an exotic wyvern couple that sadly passed away. You must scale a very high mountain in order to get these eggs.

- Your character is dropped off at the base of the mountain. The goal is to climb the mountain and get the egg. To scale the mountain, you must write a jaunty 250 word post of your character scaling the mountain. You can do this as you please, there are plenty of angry nesting minipets, boulders, and possibly giant serpents blocking your way. As you reach the top, obtain the egg, and you are ready to begin your descent.

- Every single creature possible, especially rolling sand lobsters, will try to destroy your egg. Roll 1d4 four times and match your dice roll to the prompt below to reach the bottom of the mountain. Yes, repeats do happen if you roll a repeat. Your egg has 10 HP. If you make it down without the egg reaching 0 HP (breaking) you made it!

1) A sand lobster rolls right into your egg and nearly breaks it! -2 HP
2) Strange velociraptor minipets are hungrily staring at your egg. They try to attack it! -1 HP
3) A giant snake smacks you with its giant tail. Ouch! -3 HP
4) Nothing happens. You were lucky!

gaia_star If you successfully get an egg to safety, you get herbivore egg. It is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

Right from the get-go, Kari found difficulty in her trek down the mountain. As it turned out, the noise coming from the hole was from a family of velociraptor-looking minipets. Ones that looked like they were in the mood for an omelette. As one lunged towards the egg, Kari spun around to avoid the creature crashing into the egg. She grimaced as the egg grazed the rock beside her, but immediately had to stifle her laughter as the movement caused the minipet to crash into the same rock. Running away took priority at the moment, seeing as the rest of the family didn't look to be in the mood to wait for their next attack.

Kicking some sand up with her boots, she used the resulting smokescreen to make her escape before the minipets could give chase.

Pausing to catch her breath, Kari leaned against a rock and took stock of the egg's condition. It had a tiny crack in it, but it still looked to be in good condition. Better yet, the minipets had lost track of her. It also looked like she'd made it to the halfway point! If she could just make it down without any other problems, she was golden!

Deciding not to waste the good fortune, the ghoul continued on the rough path she'd made previously.

Alas, all good things must come to an end, and her end came in the form of viscous growling above her. Backing up a few steps, she was able to avoid the minipets from before landing directly on top of her.

She gasped as she lost her footing and fell backwards, nearly dropping the egg in the process. Rolling back into a standing position, she quickly chose another route to traverse since her previous one was no longer viable.

Looking at the egg, Kari groaned at the slightly enlarged crack where the previously tiny one had been. They had never specified whether it had to be in mint condition or not. Would they even take it if she brought it back with a crack like this in it? She certainly hoped so.

Arriving at the steep cliff face that heralded the last stretch of her descent, Kari took off her scarf and wrapped it around the egg, then herself, in a makeshift backpack. Letting out a steadying breath, she eased herself down the ledge and onto the cliff face.

Just as she was nearing the bottom, Kari was caught off guard by sudden rumbling. Before she could figure out what to do, a shelled creature burst out from the wall and slammed into the reaper. Giving a harsh cough, she was flung sideways as one of her hand lost its grip. A cracking noise behind her send a wave of dread through her, but she pushed down the emotion in her effort to get away from her new attacker.

Arriving at the bottom, unwrapping the egg, Kari's brow creased at the numerous cracks now littering the egg. There was no way she could deliver the egg like this! True, it was still in one piece, and the villagers had never specified the condition it needed to be in... but it clearly wasn't unharmed.

Plodding back to the village, she arrived to find... no one. Just as she had with the Powderstone, no one had bothered to wait for her to come back this time either.

"Do they really have that little faith in me?," she pouted. Though she wouldn't be too surprised, considering the condition of the egg, now her egg.

Egg HP: 6 (-2)
