Sanele grumbled as she was pulled away from the fun task of watching the newly hatched Xaraan and giving them checkups to head to the main off ice of the Xaraan farm. Why'd Lan always have to pull her away from the fun tasks? Why does he never need me when I'm cleaning out the stalls and barns? She groused to herself as she wiped her feet off on the rug before heading in. She still kept to bare feet even in the wet season; why wear shoes when they'd just get muddy and the mud would seep into them anyways? "You called Lan?" She asked as she knocked on the slightly propped open door. "Ah yes," His deep vibrant voice came from the other side; it's jolly tones telling her he was entertaining a wealthy guest. "Sanele, I will need you to show this young girl around the farm." He had the faintest pause in his voice. One that made Sanele wonder just what the ... girl was. Curious, she opened the door all the way and entered.

It had taken some convincing. Normally, Zaleem didn’t like for his young daughter to venture out of his estate for very long (or very far). He much preferred to have her close by, generally with one of his staff, so someone could keep an eye on her. If she went out and about, other people could see her, and she was bound to meet hostilities somewhere. A lot of Obans weren’t fond of the Matori, and to see a child of mixed heritage, well…putting his little girl through that was the last thing that he wanted. But, of course, Khalel was determined. Once she had set her mind on something, there wasn’t much changing it later on.
”Oh, please,” she practically begged, giving her father the biggest doe eyes she could manage. It didn’t take much convincing. With a defeated sigh and a roll of his eyes, the noble Oban finally relented. ”Alright, fine, child,” he told her, ”You can go to the farm. But you’re to be watched at all times.” That was when he whispered to Roga, the sentinel that doubled as Khalel’s guardian when he wasn’t visiting his little girl, to take care and watch over her. Without a word, the sentinel nodded. He was ever the dutiful caretaker.
So thus, that was how Roga and Khalel had manage to find their way to the Xaraan farm that Sanele worked at. The girl’s father had asked Lan, specifically, if she could be given a tour. It would be educational for her to see how the animals were raised, he explained. Perhaps he’d even purchase a mount for her later on, if she was behaved enough. ”I’m so excited, Roga,” she chimed to her caretaker. Next to her, the sentinel merely looked about before slowly nodding his head. He was a man of few words, always had been, always would be.
Khalel was dressed in fine clothes, fitting for her station. Flowing fabrics were hidden, however, over a robe that she generally wore while she was out and about. Her hood had also been pulled over her head, at her father’s insistence. The fact that she was wealthy was clear, but wealth didn’t matter at the farm. All that mattered, in the youngling’s mind, was getting the chance to be on a farm and see the animals. That was the most important thing.

Mriae I am rping Xaraan a lot like our horses.. just.. dinosaur shaped 8D Sanele eyed the two Obans with interest. Wealthy... guess I should stick to the show Xaraan! Much too young for the racers or couriers with that kid being here. "Sure thing, Lan. Come along then." She said to the girl who was hooded. She didnt get too good a look a the child but the skin tone seemed ... off. Wonder what sort of disfigurement she's hiding? Sanele thought with amusement. Rick folk... always wanting to look perfect! "I'm Sanele," She offered, not sure if the kid would be a brat and haughty like some she'd sen or more innocent and actually child like. Money did weird things to kids...

Sanele was a pretty name. Khalel beamed from ear to ear the moment that the farm girl started to show them on their tour. With a wave of her hand, she motioned for Roga to follow, and the guardsman did so without protest. ”That’s a pretty name,” the youngling went on to say, her hands slipping into the pockets of her robe as she walked. To work on a farm must be really fun and enjoyable, she thought to herself. Certainly better than being cooped up in the pavilion all day with only boring tutors to listen to. Then again, it wasn’t all bad. Her perzi and her zanteer kept her company.
”My name is Khalel.”
As she said this, Khalel gave Roga a quick look out of the corner of her eye. The sentinel was distracted, thankfully. The child used this to her advantage, and took the man’s distraction to allow herself to slip the hood off from over her head. Phew – much better! It was refreshing to feel the cooler air on her head. Wearing that stupid hood could get really hot, and even more so if they went into a barn, she reckoned. When her guard did notice, he’d probably give her an earful, or wait until they were on their way home. She didn’t care, however. She didn’t want to wear it anymore.

Mriae very sorry about the slowness... school ate me. She relaxed slightly when the girl sounded happy and very much like a child instead of some arrogant snob. It meant Sanele didn't have to behave her self as much. Sanele's eyebrow rose as the hood came off... So that's why she had it on, she thought bemusedly. Probably the noble's daughter with one of his ex slaves! Wonder why he kept her instead of tossing the half blood out with her mother... but the ways of nobles were foreign and perhaps this little girl's father was a decent one to at least keep his daughter despite the disgrace she must have brought. Being poor, she'd never really met the Matori.. just seen one or two in the distance always laboring at tasks that she and her neighbors were doing as well. Hard labor with little to pay for it. She had mixed feelings about a halfblood though; part thought it was a little disgusting... while the other thought her rather adorable. The coloration and pattern was certainly cute... and its not like its her fault her father couldn't keep his hands to himself, she thought as she kept a polite mask on. "Khalel ehh?" Very much an Oban name.. not a Matori one. Deliberate? "Cute name. "You here to learn, buy, or just want to look at the pretty Xaraan?" She asked bemusedly. Would her rich father buy one for her? If so... then I better try to sell one. Lan had had his sell man's voice on. She lead the way across the partially muddy stone walk way towards a large pen that held the loud and rambunctious young Xaraan meant for looking pretty and not much else. "We've got several types of Xaraan here; speed, distance, showy, and clam ones. Which would you like to see?"
