+ Personality: Yesenia is competitive to a fault, turning any activity, however mundane, into a competition whenever she can. Running, lifting, and other shows of strength are some of her favorite things to compete over, but really anything is fun for her. She just loves the competitive spirit of things.
In contrast to her best friend / rival, Amalia Stern, Yesenia loves sour and spicy foods, but cannot stand sweets, as they make her sick. One of the few things that she won't challenge people to is eating sweets. Much to her despair, Amalia often suggests such things when it is her turn to decide the challenge.
Yesenia is fairly boisterous, and seems to have a disdain for being quiet. She lives life for the right now, and right now is amazing. Why be quiet when you have the ability to be loud?
+ Background: Growing up in Trost, Yesenia was a constant source of trouble for her parents. Her father was a retired member of the garrison, and her mother was, by all accounts, the ideal wife. They wanted a daughter they could be proud of, but Yesenia wasn't content to waste her life away playing with dolls, making tea, or preparing to be married off to the son of a merchant or perhaps a noble. No, far from that, the young girl would run about the streets of Trost with the boys and get skinned knees, dirty clothes, and other trophies of her rambunctious life.
One day, she met another girl with similar interests named Amalia Stern. The other girl always seemed just a little faster, a little taller, a little better at everything. Yesenia decided that Amalia was her rival almost immediately, much to Amalia's chagrin, and constantly aimed to improve to one day surpass her. Every now and then, she'd win the races she started, or carry something heavy farther, or otherwise win one of the arbitrary contests.
When the two were teenagers, Amalia received a scar on her cheek from a prank gone wrong. Seeing it as a challenge, Yesenia went home that night and gave herself a scar on the nose. This infuriated Amalia, who thought that she was mocking her. Realizing belatedly how cruel her careless gesture had been, she apologized profusely until Amalia forgave her, and tends to wear a bandage over it.
Still possessing the competitive spirit of her youth, when Yesenia found out that Amalia was joining the military, she signed herself up immediately. Who knew what fun she could have there?
