Username: Dumpling-San How often can you post to this RP? Whenever I'm online which is about everyday. However, I may be absent once a week. Why do you want to be a tutor and what makes you fit for this job? I would like to be a tutor because helping people out is an amazing thing to do, and I love the feeling afterwards that I helped someone. I taught my science class in sixth grade once, but that's about the only teaching experience I have. How much, and what kind of, roleplay experience do you have? I role-play everyday whether it's LARPing or online. I've been role-playing for about five to seven years. What would you consider your greatest strength in roleplaying? I think my biggest strength in role-playing is making my characters do interesting things to stand out above the average person whether it be through their backstory or extra traits, What would you consider your greatest weakness in roleplaying? I think staying true to my character's personality is my greatest weakness because I'll either forget how they're supposed to act or have them act differently from what their personality entails. What do you think are the most important things to keep in mind when roleplaying? I think the most important thing to keep in mind is who your character is and how they act. You don't want to have a teenager speak like a middle-aged person. What do you think are the most important things to keep in mind when teaching? I think the biggest thing to keep in mind is that there's always room for improvement, and that not everything will go the way you want it to. What courses would you be most comfortable teaching? Psychology because I've always felt a strong connection with role-play characters. I like to make them interesting yet still fit in with the genre. Please provide a paragraph about yourself for us to put in the directory thread. Hey everyone! I'm Dumpling-San, and I've been role-playing for about five to seven years whether it's been through LARPing or online. I'm a huge sucker for fantasy and academy role-plays, however I'm always inclined to try new things. As long as the story interests me, I'll role-play. I don't like historical and science fiction role-plays as much, but I'll still do them. One genre of role-play that I would really like to try out soon is a steampunk role-play. I hope to get to know you soon!
Character Name: Ellen Cosmos Age: Twenty-Five Gender: Female Race: Neko-Human Hybrid World of Origin: Planet Earth Distinguishing Characteristics: Ellen has four piercings in her right eyebrow. Also, there's a scar that starts about her left eye and continues all the way down her face. Her left eye is a shocking shade of light gray. Ellen has black cat ears tipped with white on top of her head, and a black tail also tipped with white sticking out of her lower back. Physical Description: Ellen is surprisingly tall at seven feet. She's very lanky with lean muscles. Ellen's teeth are extremely white and pointed so that they look almost like fangs. She has a pale complexion, and she carries herself with pride. She dresses in mostly black form-fitting clothes. Her skin is exceptionally soft, and Ellen has long, spider-like fingers. Her nose is very long and narrow. Ellen's right eye is bright green like celery, and her left eye is light gray. Her facial features are bold and noticeable. The only makeup Ellen wears is eyeliner. Personality: Ellen is very proud and bold. She's honest to the point where it's brutal, and she's very opinionated. She loves speaking her mind and will never think twice about saying something whether it's cynical or not. She's as stubborn as a bull and persistent in everything she does. Ellen is extremely competitive and enjoys winning bragging rights. She's very ambitious and hardworking which is good because she has a lot planned for the future. Ellen is very social and enjoys making new friends. She's very open and accepting of other people. She's a good shoulder to lean on, and she gives good advice. Ellen is loyal and trusting of her friends and will always reach out to them. However, if they wound her pride or betray her, Ellen will leave. She's not very forgiving, and she doesn't trust easily. However, she has the right values and will stand for what's right. She's very outgoing and adventurous and is always willing to try new things. Notable Abilities: Ellen is more agile than most humans. She can jump pretty high as well. She's very tough and has a strong jaw. She can go for a longer time without food than most humans. How did you come to the Academy? Ellen and her parents entered through a Breach. Personal History: Ellen's father (Mr. Vay) was a professor at the academy before accidentally falling through a portal into a world full of cats and Human-Cat Hybrids. He became infatuated with a hybrid there, and they got married and had Ellen. For twelve years, Ellen grew up in the other world. Her mother died when she was ten and two years later she was sucked into a whole new world when someone from the academy used a Breach Key to locate the lost professor. Vay's first wife, Umbraja, finally came looking for him and they all three went back to the Academy together. Tableau: It was a brisk morning with a gentle breeze blowing through the academy. Spring was on its way causing the students to become more jumpy and restless. Ellen stepped out onto the grounds striding towards the clock tower when she heard shouts and crying coming from a large group gathered in the Quad. Curious, Ellen hurried over to see what was going on, and a bout of laughter rose up from the crowd as a team of bullies taunted a student with a learning disability.
Ellen shoved her way through the crowd to the front and the talking stopped abruptly. She crossed her arms over her chest and glared at the bullies. "Why are you brutes picking on him? What has he done to you?" Her voice was loud and firm. Ellen was not going to let matter go. She turned to the crowd and gestured wildly at them. "What really disgusts me is that all of you tolerate this! Picking on anyone is unacceptable!"
The bullies almost died of laughter. Who did this woman think she was? The head bully Charlie stopped laughing long enough to speak a few words. "Come on Ellen, we were only joking around with him." At this, Ellen gritted her teeth and threw her fist at his face. He winced and began to retreat. They ran into the academy and didn't come back.
Ellen made sure the victim of the bullies was okay. They took a walk around the campus as Ellen explained that she was going to help him if he wanted it. The boy was okay with the idea of a tutor, and they met after school every day for the rest of their time at the academy.

Username: KiIIerWarrior How often can you post to this RP? At least every other day. Why do you want to be a tutor and what makes you fit for this job (please include any teaching or tutoring/mentoring experience you may have)? The guild needs them and I've been role-playing for years. I've always enjoyed meeting new people interested in role-playing and doing my best to educate them. Many of them went on to become well balanced players. I enjoy seeing others succeed. How much, and what kind of, roleplay experience do you have (include links if possible)? My role-playing history is long and convoluted. I've gotten many different areas of practice from live action to table-top. Most the role-playing I've done on Gaia is limited to a couple short lived games in various places. What would you consider your greatest strength in roleplaying? I'd like to think of myself as well-balanced though my greatest strength would have to be character role. When I make a character I set a style and mood for the character that they rarely stray from unless an event that jars them changes the way they see things. Granting said event was capable. Watching someone die a painful death in front of you for the first time can change most anyone. That is unless you're the one doing the killing, in which case it's all part of the character. What would you consider your greatest weakness in roleplaying? Combat physics. It's difficult for me to write complicated and detailed fight scenes. The event plays through like a movie in my head but I can't seem to describe the flow well enough. That and multiple character dialog. Without color coding characters in a large conversation I find myself uncertain who's saying what. What do you think are the most important things to keep in mind when roleplaying? Respect, Understanding, and Character. Respect other players wishes aside from the role-play. Understand how things work in and out of the role-play. Keep what's in character in, and out of character out. Many people have trouble picking the "ignorant" route when they know what might be around the corner. Like playing a game of chess with yourself. What do you think are the most important things to keep in mind when teaching? Respect, Understanding, and Patience. It's pretty much the same as above except for the patience factor. As the saying goes, "You can lead a horse to water, but the water isn't going anywhere fast so stop and smell the sundials." What courses would you be most comfortable teaching? I'm more a history and world-building buff so I'd be supremely interested in teaching History 101 and 201. I'd want a bit more practice teaching before taking up the more advanced courses. Please provide a paragraph about yourself for us to put in the directory thread. (Leaving classes empty for now) KiIIerWarrior has been taking on the art of roles since he was a young child playing make believe. Despite his name, he preferred being the older and wiser type of character while his younger cousin was the strong warrior. It felt good to be strong and powerful but it was always nice to have something to fight against. KW conjured up a variety of mystical creatures and scenarios. His love for imagining new things has carried over into his adult-hood. His specialties are world development, character development, complicated plot webs, and subtle hints. Genres he's enjoyed most are Fantasy, Steampunk, and Futuristic Sci-Fi.
Character Name: Szalmarik Age: Ancient Gender: Male Race: Nephilim World of Origin: Genaux XV Distinguishing Characteristics: A mis-matched pair of wings. One black and leathery the other white and feathered. His tattered apparel seems a mix between desert Arabian and frosty Nordic. Physical Description: Szalmarik stands at 6'2" with pale green skin and black, clawed feet. His wings sprout from his shoulder bones and stretch just beyond his arm's length. His hair is long and black with strands of white showing his age. Stern, orange eyes stare out from his sullen complexion. Personality: Despite his appearance Szalmarik is actively passive. He prefers things neat and orderly enough to be considered OCD and is generally welcoming with a polite demeanor. There's a temper quelled deep within, as such, it's rare anyone ever notices it. Notable Abilities: Capability of flight and telepathy. His flight can range from a low hover by gently flapping his wings or a violent joust going as fast as the wind. The effects of his telepathy include active conversations through thought (not mind-reading) and illusory capabilities. How did you come to the Academy? Szalmarik was minding his own business in an oceanic island world studying the progression of spore-like organisms left behind by an invasive insect species that his group had recently eradicated. He felt a ripple through space and thought it was another dreaded call to arms. As he went to phase through to a nearby world he got caught somewhere between worlds; in the Aether. Personal History: The Nephilim were created to watch over the planes and keep order in the balance. Each was given a planar lantern to guide their paths and bring them to other worlds. Szalmarik was "born" on a peaceful world classified as Genaux XV in a vast solar system. He was like any other of his kind, diligent, hard working, and curious. He bore witness to the growth and advancement of many species before the first call summoned him away. Although it tore him asunder to leave his home, the duty of his brethren was more important. Though immortal, Nephilim are not invincible. Wars have been waged that threatened balance of many worlds. Once the chaos begins to ripple, more Nephilim are called to arms. Over the thousands of years more and more of their kind have died off. Thankfully there have always been more than enough of them for each world but only time will tell the extent of their existence. Tableau: Szalmarik stood, center square of the quad, confused as of how or why this place existed. His wonder and curiosity began to pull at him as he decided to wander around while trying to stay clear of any sentient beings bustling about. The grounds seemed very old and wondered if this was a fragment of one of the lost realms from wars fought in ages past. The thoughts began to swell as he noticed something peculiar about all the different people. They were from different worlds and some of which he'd visited before.
'There would be time for the universe later.' He thought, noticing a flyer for teaching positions posted on a bulletin. It was clear now that this was where he was meant to be and set out to sign up.

Username: PrincessxXxmaeray How often can you post to this RP? typically once or twice a day. More if I'm on longer Why do you want to be a tutor and what makes you fit for this job (please include any teaching or tutoring/mentoring experience you may have)? Well I would love to be a tutor mainly due to that fact that I never had someone to show me the ropes. I think this is one of the best ideas I've seen on gaia. As for teaching experience I have thought acting workshops since I was 15 every single summer and fall. I would teach them musicals in a week, of course with co-teachers. I have also tutored over 20 kids in math and science during high school. How much, and what kind of, roleplay experience do you have (include links if possible)? When I first started out I was doing a lot of group role-plays that usually buckled and were weak. I didn't get really any good experience until I join a guild and found 1 x 1's. For the past few years I have done nothing but 1 x 1's and I have gathered enough skill to write paragraphs and or pages depending on the role-play and my partner. As for quality, I feel each and everyone of my characters is entirely different, even if they do share a name. I have played both male and female roles, and have covered most likely every genre there is to play. And in truth I am an actor in real life and that itself is a real world example of roleplaying. I am majoring in theatre and so it is a pretty big passion of mine. Ah this account is new-ish and I don't have links due to majority of the 1 x 1 role-plays I have been doing are in pms. I can always write something for you. What would you consider your greatest strength in roleplaying? character development and length in posts What would you consider your greatest weakness in roleplaying? truthfully it would be that english is my second language, and as such some of the literary devices and techniques I do not have enough experience with them What do you think are the most important things to keep in mind when roleplaying? that you are not the one posting but the character. Each character is themselves and not always the star of the show. You need to find the balance within the group; be it 2 people or 14. What do you think are the most important things to keep in mind when teaching? That every student is in fact different. From their learning styles to their personalities. Being flexible is the most important thing to keep in mind. That and patience What courses would you be most comfortable teaching? Psychology, Political Science, and History Please provide a paragraph about yourself for us to put in the directory thread. (Things to include here are: your teaching as well as RP experience, what genres of RP you like, and RP samples if you have any. Aim for five to seven sentences.) Maegan Seiko started role-playing in 0'9 with many small group role-plays. Although, it wasn't until she discovered 1 x 1 role-plays that she really gained her experience as a writer. Maegan has found real life teaching experience in the form of co-teaching acting workshops every summer and spring since she was 15. She has found the most joy in role-playing the genres of fantasy, romance, action, and crime solving. Maegan's greatest strength in role-playing is character development. She has created over 50+ characters each with their own personality, speaking habits, and history.
Character Name: Maegan Seiko Age: 22 Gender: female Race: Human World of Origin: Kuinea Distinguishing Characteristics: a mole under her left eye Physical Description: Maegan is roughly 5'6'' in height, weighing roughly 128 lbs. She has brown hair with natural blonde highlights. Big brown eyes. A nice smile with straight teeth. Personality: Maegan is kind hearted, loyal, out spoken. Mood will turn sour the second someone is an jerk to her or to anyone around him. Notable Abilities: the ability to connect with almost anyone and make them feel accepted. How did you come to the Academy? Maegan was wondering around her fair lands; prancing and dancing when suddenly a rift opened in front of her figure and sucked her into an alien world. This world just so happened to be the academy realm. Personal History: 22 years ago on this day a small little wail was heard throughout the lands. Baby Maegan was born. She had the prettiest little eyes her mother had told everyone. The baby grew up like any normal child seeking adventure and almost always coming home with a new scrape or cut. But unlike many kids, Maegan loved to read and write. Maegan would spin tales into gold with an uncanny skill for her age. She began to grow older like any other kid, but with her growth her writing and reading surpassed all the other girls and boys in her classes. It was a month before her 22 birthday that she fell into the rift loosing her parents and friends in a flash. At first she was sad but then she found the magic in this realm. the magic that is role-playing. Soon she saw the school was teaching others how to roleplay and the joy on their faces. It is what made her look over and over into the office, where she made pick up a application. She wanted to help bring all these students joy. Tableau: Maegan glanced over at the grand building once again. How many times am i going to look with wonder and should I's, before I get off my bum and check it out. She let loose a small sigh as her eyes fluttered close and her back leaned deeper into the grassy hill. It was the voice of a laughing student that brought her gaze once more to the build. "That" She quickly stood and marched her reluctant butt through the doors of the building.

Username: TheGazSpaz How often can you post to this RP? A few times a week. Why do you want to be a tutor and what makes you fit for this job (please include any teaching or tutoring/mentoring experience you may have)? I was a mentor, and I love helping out others! How much, and what kind of, roleplay experience do you have (include links if possible)? I've been RPing for three years or so. I have experience in both chat type RP and in forum RP. No links currently, as far as I know all of these RPs were deleted... Or I don't know where they were, since they weren't on Gaia. What would you consider your greatest strength in roleplaying? Using my imagination to create far off worlds! I never know what my mind would think of! What would you consider your greatest weakness in roleplaying? Using NPC's. I never feel like I use them right... What do you think are the most important things to keep in mind when roleplaying? Remember what character you're portraying, don't break that character. Also don't control other people's characters without permission. What do you think are the most important things to keep in mind when teaching? Go at the students pace. Always be open and friendly. What courses would you be most comfortable teaching? EDU 101, LIT 101, HIS 101, HIS 301 Please provide a paragraph about yourself for us to put in the directory thread. Gazzy is an experienced Role Player with a heart to lend a hand. He loves to work on characters and create worlds in his mind with his vast imagination. He also enjoys helping developing plots and stories, as well as helping others get their plots in place. He is an active Role Player for a fandom called "Monster High," but has also worked with non-fandom RP's and fandoms such as "The Hunger Games." He is experienced in both chat and forum format of Role Play.
Character Name: Gasman Riseman. Prefers to be called "Mr. Gazzy or Mr. G." Age: 19 Gender: Male Race: Wizard World of Origin: Distinguishing Characteristics: Serious about teaching, all he wants is studen success. Physical Description: Blonde hair, tall, blue eyes, dimples, thin. Personality: Stern while in the classroom. But if you meet him outside of the classroom he is easy going and friendly. Notable Abilities: Magical abilities. How did you come to the Academy? He was a young kid, thinking he was a normal kid. He really liked to be concealed from the rest of the world, when he came across some sort of portal.... Not knowing what was on the other kid, he stepped through the Academy. He 'lurked' for years, before finally applying to be a tutor. Personal History: He (thought that he) was a normal kid, two parents. His mom died, leaving him and his dad alone. Frustrated, he shut himself away from the world. All alone is how he experienced magic, and found out about the academy. Tableau: Gazzy's blue eyes fell upon Dean's door. He pulled his shoulders back confidently, brushing his blonde hair to the side. Smiling to himself, he knocked on the door. "Come in," a voice from the inside said. He turned the nob of the door, entering the space. His eyes scanned the room briefly, taking it all in. He was a man of observation, as he learned from years of being alone. "Ah, Gasman!" Dean stood up from his chair and they shook hands. Gazzy smiled and shook his hands in greeting. "Please, sit!" He sat down in the chair slowly. "Nice to see you again, Dean." Dean nodded, "Yes you too. How's your father?" "He's alright. Kinda stressed by his job." "Aren't we all?" Dean chuckled, putting his glasses on the desk. "So you want to be a tutor?" He nodded in reply. "Mind telling my why?" "Well," Gazzy began, "I've always known since I was little that I've had a passion for helping others. I decided to come to the SDRP because I want to actually, you know, make a difference." "How do you think you will make a difference?" "Well, I think of it this way. These students are the next generation, the kids that will make up our world one day. And I'm going to do my best to make sure our next generation is a good, well educated one. Even if I'm just a tutor." He nodded.

Username: Watervoir How often can you post to this RP? At least once a week. Why do you want to be a tutor and what makes you fit for this job (please include any teaching or tutoring/mentoring experience you may have)? After several years of RPing and GMing a successful and ongoing game for about two years, I figured I have some good tidbits of information to share. I've had some experience mentoring in the previous SDRP Mentorship Program. How much, and what kind of, roleplay experience do you have (include links if possible)? GMing Blue Caravan for little more than two years; RPing there for three. Some experience playing dice-based forum RP on The "Organ" Trail. An assortment of one-on-one RPs in Barton Town that went a few pages in. Some table-top gaming experience and LARPing. And others in between and behind and around! They'd just end up making this list longer than it needs to be though. What would you consider your greatest strength in roleplaying? GMing and keeping the plot/game moving; making the game fun and engaging; designing characters for RPs What would you consider your greatest weakness in roleplaying? World building. I wouldn't say that I'm bad at it but I tend to put other things like plots and character development at a higher priority. What do you think are the most important things to keep in mind when roleplaying? To have fun and all the members of the RP. RPing is a game and hobby and there will be no game if players are unhappy and leave. Slightly less but still vital is the need to keep the spirit of the story running and to keep the ball rolling, because otherwise the RP will die. I value actually making progress in the story of the RP. What do you think are the most important things to keep in mind when teaching? Focusing on the student and building an environment that nurtures their improvement, in particular by being approachable, responsive, reliable and knowledgeable. Being active and engaging as a tutor/teacher helps. What courses would you be most comfortable teaching? PSY 301, PSY 302, MRK 301, all POL courses Please provide a paragraph about yourself for us to put in the directory thread. Watervoir started out roleplaying in a guild on Gaia in 2007 and currently runs the medieval fantasy adventure roleplay Blue Caravan in Gaia's Barton Town. She is involved in several RPs in SDRP and is one of the Support Crew of the guild. She enjoys character development and inventing plots. Her SDRP introduction thread can be found here. Character Name: Zane Vincent Age: 17 Gender: Male Race: Human World of Origin: A city by the name of Valhalla in a post-apocalyptic America. Distinguishing Characteristics: None. Physical Description: Zane dresses smart casual. A black top hat is his signature accessory. He has an array of prized possessions, among them being: his cell phone, MP3 player, credit card, driver's license, (chain) wallet, ID, (the) top hat, Bicycle cards, and a laptop. He can often be found with a lollipop or some sort of sweet in his mouth. His hair is dyed jet black, which masks its natural brown colour. He has bangs that can cover his eyes if not swept away and the back of his haircut ends off at the shoulders. His eyes are a cobalt blue colour and his skin is fair in tone. Zane is slender in build and has a height of 5'10" and a weight of about 145 lbs. Personality: Zane is not the type to readily accept authority based on tradition, rank, or title. To him, respect must be earned and success is the ultimate meter of value. He doesn’t work well with adults, for example, who wish to impose authority/superiority on him. On the flip side, he also doesn’t like those who seem deadset on considering themselves inferior/incapable. He has strong confidence in his ability and talents and is prepared to lead if no one else seems up to the task, or if he sees a major weakness in the current leadership. At times, Zane can seem cold, reserved and unresponsive, especially if he is preoccupied or don’t know what to say. He is usually better in a working situation than in a recreational one; he’s not good at making small talk, but have him be informally teaching a friend or engaging in some significant discussion, and his tongue would be smooth. Notable Abilities: He's a computer whiz. How did you come to the Academy? Zane came to the Academy under the assumption that he could learn more about a person referred to as his RPer (read: Watervoir) and to find out more about this hobby. He's participated in the first PSY 101 class at the SDRP Academy and has been hanging out at the Academy ever since. Personal History:In a post-apocalyptic society where a violent game show serves as the bread and circuses for the masses, Zane became an expert on computers at a young age and certain events led him to inherit The Underground, a criminal society that relies on computers as their primary tools of operation. In this world, where the plot is centered on the happenings within the grand city of Valhalla, Zane is a seasoned computer programmer and hacker and will be allied with the underground rebel movement. Tableau:"SDRP Tutoring Academy: EDU 101." Zane's arms were crossed as he leaned towards the poster board. His brow furrowed as he continued studying the words off one particular advertisement. "Join to Become a Tutor… Hmph." A crooked grin flashed on his face as he reached a hand and ripped the poster off. Within seconds, the paper was crumpled and tossed into the nearest trash bin. But when Zane's eyes returned to the board, there the poster was again. "Huh?" He pulled that one off, and another one sprouted in its place from some indiscernible spot on the board, like a weed in a garden. "Hm." He fished from his pocket a permanent marker and scribbled in some test words: "AKA THE GAUNTLET", "DEATH" and "IF YOU DARE". But the next instance he blinked, his rectifications were gone. Zane frowned, barely surprised. "I can never win…" Another idea struck him, and his grin returned. He took another poster, but this time he didn't crumple it. If this Academy was like any other proud institution, the higher up the ranks you are, the more information one had access to. Zane could make use of that. He ran a finger along the fine print while his eyes hunted for the application instructions…
