The zombie apocalypse has begun, you don't know how or why this calamity has been brought upon you, but sure enough you are determined to not let this disaster claim your life as well. You, along with a handful of other survivors have banded together here in Washington D.C. in a desperate attempt to reach the Safe Haven on the west coast. You have only a small chance for survival but you'll be damned if that will stop you now. As monsters devour people on the streets, you frantically prepare to make your journey west and face the coming darkness together... or die trying.
This RP is based off the Desura based game "The Organ Trail", which is respectively based off the original game from ages long past called "The Oregon Trail" where pioneers are following Manifest Destiny and aim to settle the west coast while facing the many hardships of those difficult times. To make things even more clear: This RP is largely going to be a group of 5 people continuously reacting to events or challenges created by me and the consequences of those actions. This is a highly Reactionary RP, so if that's not your thing, either try harder or walk away.

Recruitment Status/Map/RulesThe great United States of America... Currently the Role Play is active! We are currently looking for more players and our wait list will remain open at all times for those who still want to join.
The maximum amount of players within the game at any time will be 5. This is excluding myself, as I will act as the Narrator/Director who determines the events/challenges that occur as well as managing resources etc. Rules! 1. Respect Gaia ToS 2. Respect guild rules. 3. Respect the options that I give you during the game. The choices are designed to create drama and difficult decisions 4. This is a semi-lit RP, as such your posts must be more than a sentence long (preferably a paragraph) 5. Character deaths are permanent. 6. You may not kill a teammate without their consent. 7. You may not choose options during EVENTS other than the ones I provide. 8. No cybering etc. of course, this isn't a romance RP to begin with. If you want to start a romance between characters go for it, but anything explicit and ya get the boot. 9. Swearing is allowed, just keep it in moderation. 10. Follow the appropriate profile process listed below. 11. This will hopefully be a faster paced RP, so please check in each day if you are accepted. If you are going to be unable to post for an extended period of time, please let me know ahead of time via PM. Nothing is worse than being in a high intensity chase only to wait on somebody because they went on vacation IRL without mentioning it to anybody else. 12. Have fun :3 OOC Thread

The Goal/Challenges
The goal of this game is to reach Safe Haven, located in, where else but Oregon? The concept of the game is the same as the pioneers of antiquity attempting to start their lives over in a new land... except there are now man eating zombies everywhere and nukes are going off in certain hotspots...
Challenges!
During the adventure, there will be random events that I will create that will either cost you resources, force you to make a difficult decision or fight for your life! An example would be finding an abandoned home but discovering someone still lives there and seems to have a fair amount of food stashed away. Would you kill them, help them, leave the situation as it is? Every decision will have a result that could affect you in a unique manner.
Some challenges will be beneficial but watch your greed and watch your benevolence, as excess of either could cost you your life!

The Passage of Time
Given the difficulty of managing time in a forum based game, I will attempt to keep track of time in this specific slot, as well as update as we go along when events occur or when events are completed. Weather is one of many challenges that change depending on your location and the day. It will force you to consume more food or fuel to compensate for your lack of speed.
Example: It is now Day 27. Evening. Heavy fog rolls in, you must drive more slowly.
The Current Time is:
Day 2 Morning. Raining. (Visibility and Speed Reduced)

Hunger/Health/Infection
Hunger -
The most basic need you will have to face. Always ensure that you have enough food to make it to the next landmark. Your consumption will depend on many factors, such as the group composition, speed and more.
Health -
Health will deteriorate over time, whether it is due to starvation, medical conditions such as fevers, etc. or damaged limbs during scavenging or missions. Zero Health = Dead Traveler
Infection -
If a player gets bitten by a zombie, that character WILL die. They may try to stay alive and fight the infection for as long as they keep better than 10% health, but if they drop under 10%, they run the risk of turning and infecting someone else before having to be put down themselves. If you are infected, your group can choose to put you out of your misery... if they have the heart to do so.

Class Information
There are several classes to choose from, some grant permanent passive bonuses and others are one time boosts. A good team is formed with a mix but any group can be successful. Let me be perfectly clear however: There are no PRO ZOMBIE HUNTER classes, meaning that you don't start off as an armed to the teeth mercenary who was born to kill. These are normal people with normal talents that have to band together to survive.
Athlete - Faster than other survivors, able to perform certain missions more effectively.
Meiser - Brings 300$ to the group upon joining.
Mechanic - More effective at repairing the vehicle, has a 20% chance not to use up resources when repairing.
Caretaker - Brings 3 Medkits to the group upon joining.
Salesman - Reduces the cost of merchandise and upgrades when visiting a town by 10%.
Doctor - Reduces damage taken from illness or injury by 10%.
Priest/Pastor - Increases chance of beneficial events.
Seductress/Gigolo - Gives the option to sweet talk in a situation
Hoarder - Brings 100 Food, 4 Fuel and 50 Ammo to the group upon joining.

Combat Information
Combat will be both FREQUENT and BRUTAL! Whether you are dealing with scavenging or defending yourself from zombies or bandits... or bandit zombies, you will be fighting for your lives!
How Combat works:
In non-event combat (Which will be the norm unless otherwise specified by a Green Marker which will be displayed at the beginning of a combat event), you will be judged solely on your roleplaying abilities. I will judge based on the following aspects*:
1) Plausibility: could the character logically succeed given stated skills on the character profile and past actions within the RP.
2) Writing: to encourage good writing, a well written attempt can push a borderline plausibility into success. Conversely, a poorly written attempt can push a borderline plausibility to fail.
3) Awesomeness: a clever, cool, humorous, or otherwise awesome attempt can push a borderline plausibility into success. A truly spectacular attempt can bend the laws of physics if well written.
4) Dice: I will occasionally use dice when other factors are not present to help decide the outcome.
5) Plot: some things will just happen (or not) for the sake of the plot. This should not be a common occurrence but it may happen.
In EVENT combat and EVENTs in general, I will list 2-5 options for ONE person to make a decision. This person and the group will face the results of this decision.
Example:
JACK! You wander around the back of the farmhouse and discover a group of men roughing up a young woman. Do you:
Rush in to save her! Try to listen in on the conversation. Leave and don't look back.
*= This list has been modified but was originally compiled by Umbraja, I believe in one of the guild's past RP's.

How is Death Handled?
Death... is a strange thing.
During this role play, there will inevitably be a loss of life due to any number of challenges that will be faced on the road to safety. As a result, I will break this down into a few categories.
DEATH FOR NPC's:
NPC's will die frequently but their consequences will vary. What I mean by this is that the death of a random bandit of course has less of an impact than "Earl the Mechanic" whom you met in D.C. and has managed to survive all the way to Vegas to set up his new shop. So to put it simply, the more a NPC has been developed, the greater the backlash you will feel for losing them, whether it be intentional or unavoidable.
DEATH FOR PLAYERS:
If your health reaches 0% OR if you are bitten and your teammates decide to put you out of your misery, then you WILL DIE. Your character is completely irreversibly DEAD. You may create a new character if you like, and if there is nobody on the waiting list ahead of you, you may wind up joining the group later on at a later town or landmark.

Active Profiles
Controller: EmpyreanFlight Survivor Name: Michael Marcel Age: 28 Gender: Male Class: Mechanic
Appearance: Michael is 6' 1" and has a muscular build. At the time of the outbreak, he was working in his garage, and is still dressed in his mechanic coveralls, wearing a green t-shirt underneath with gloves and work boots. He has short brown hair and green eyes.
Personality: Michael is generally casual and talkative, but when situations begin to get tense, he tends not to speak much. However, if under a lot of pressure, Michael is prone to snapping at people. Michael likes to get things done, so unsurprisingly, he dislikes when people are indecisive.
Biography: Born in Washington and raised by a single father, Michael was often taken to his father's garage, learning the ins-and-outs of maintaining and repair cars, and eventually going to college for it. Once he started working, the other employees treated him the same way they treated his father: with friendly heckling and and wisecracking. One day, Michael came down with a cold, but had to work anyways due to another person not being able to take his place to work on a particularly important customer's car. Sick and stressed, he was in no mood for anything besides getting the car repaired so he could go home. When the other mechanics started cracking jokes about how he was dragging his feet, he lashed out angrily and told them exactly where he'd put his feet if they didn't quiet down and went back to work.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Controller: Watervoir Survivor Name: Liona Hayman Age: 24 Gender: Female Class: Seductress
Appearance: 5'8". Her hair is straight and of a chocolate brown that reaches her shoulder blades, while her eyes are the colour of a deep morning fog. She left the house today wearing a burgundy sleeveless top and a beaded necklace underneath a brown leather jacket. Her cream cargo pants and padded leather boots would let her move easily while on the job as well.
Personality: Liona has a dry sense of humour, is quick to take action and stays positive, although she is not the type to stay until the bitter end. While she does value those who are close to her, she also has a strong sense of self-preservation and self-interest, and it's not always clear which one of them would win out in the end.
Biography: She has been studying theatre for the past four years at a college in Washington and only this year did she receive the opportunity of an internship with a local theatre house. It's been earning her her month's rent, but even before she got this job, she has modelled on a number of occasions. She's made no small effort to cut ties with her family after their disapproval of her going into her field of study, and only once two years ago did she her resolve ever weaken and she made a phone call with a hidden caller ID to her father. The conversation did not end well, and needless to say, she doesn't talk about her family much and has no problem finding reason not to enter discussions on that topic.

Current Car/Auto Repair and Supply Status/InformationThis is where the vehicles condition will be updated, along with the current amount of supplies for the group as well as explanations as to what each type of supply does and why they are important. Station Wagon Durability = 75%
Current Pace of the Car: Normal - The car will travel at a steady pace and will consume food and fuel at a moderate speed.
Current UPGRADES:
Front of the Car: N/A
Interior of the Car: N/A
Undercarriage of the Car: N/A
Wheels of the Car: N/A
Misc.: N/A
Current Resources:
Food: 281 units Fuel: 2.5 cans Money: 50 dollars Ammo: 73 bullets Scrap: 5 pieces Medkit: 13 kits Battery: 1 spare Tire: 2 spare Muffler: 0 spare
Resource Explanation:Food: Self-Explanatory. Food is what you will consume and how you will survive this long and perilous journey. You run out, you will slowly starve to death. The amount you consume each day will depend on how many people are in your group and the pace you are traveling at. Go scavenging, trade or purchase more from towns or travelers to restore your stocks. Fuel: Also pretty Self-Explanatory. Fuel is what keeps your mobile command center moving. The amount you consume each day will depend on the pace you are traveling at and the weather. If you run out, your car will be forced to stop and you will have to wait for someone willing to trade... If you can find anyone... Money: Surprisingly enough, some people still value money in this new chaotic world. You don't need it to survive, but it sure as hell helps. Purchase anything from supplies to upgrades to training with it. You can earn or scavenge more during missions. Ammo: Straight up good ol' fashioned killing. While you may not need a ton, it is still a necessity for survival, if you run out and can't get anymore in town... Well, nice knowing ya. Scrap: There's only two ways of fixing your station wagon if it breaks down, find a repair shop in town who will charge you a fair chunk of cash, or manually repair it with scrap. You can either buy scrap in town, or find it while scavenging. The more scrap you use, the more likely you will repair the car. The amount repaired will always be 15% unless specified otherwise.
So, when creating a repair post. include: "Using X scrap to attempt to REPAIR"
Medkit: Not a necessity, but definitely a godsend if a member of your party becomes incapacitated due to injury. Incapacitated teammates will die within 1-2 days if they do not receive a medkit. Battery: Your car's battery is only so reliable. At some point, it may die, and if you can't replace it, you better hope you can find someone who has a spare on the road or buy one in town. Tire: Spare tires are just as much a necessity as the rest of the parts of your car. If one goes flat, you are stranded until you replace it. Either purchase it or trade for it, but make sure you fix it quickly. Muffler: Of all the car parts that could go wrong, this would probably be the least critical... except for the noise. You lose a muffler and your car will attract unbelievable amounts of unwanted attention. Trade or purchase a new one to fix it.

Tombstones...
Controller: Yl-Th Survivor Name: Ambrose Intess Age: 38 Gender: Male Class: Doctor
Appearance: Ambrose has dark brown hair that falls down to just below his shoulders, though he normally keeps it pulled back into a very severe and controlled ponytail. His facial hair is a very severe and controlled goatee, and he keeps himself extremely neatly trimmed. He stands at about five feet, seven inches, and is of an extremely average build, though a history of exercise keeps him in generally good shape. He tends toward nice-looking clothing, and at the time of the outbreak, he was in a casual suit with a tie and reasonably new dress boots.
Personality: Ambrose is very grating and difficult to get along with; he can be very stubborn and pushy. He is very much a control freak, and likes to keep everything around him in a very strict order. He has no patience for messes, bad habits, or grating social interactions. As such, he has never had many friends, preferring to keep to his work at the hospital, and dealing with people not in a professional setting is very difficult for him.
Biography: Ambrose knew from high school that he was going to be a doctor. His parents warned him that it wouldn't make him happy, but he saw something better: a chance to help people without having to really deal with them. He worked damned hard to become the best student in his class, then the best doctor in the area, and finally the best trauma surgeon in all of DC. With an extremely impressive success rate and only a couple of malpractice suits (exceedingly few, given his position), he was highly respected by his peers and coworkers in a professional setting. He didn't really get on with them personally, however. He has a tendency to snap when something is left out of place or things don't go according to his schedule. He is extremely particular about how he grooms, eats, and exercises to keep himself in good health, and has no qualms nitpicking the lifestyles of others that he finds sub-par. He adored his job, and spent as much time working as his employers would allow. He didn't really have any hobbies to occupy his free time. He had worked too much over the past two months, and was so set on mandatory vacation for two weeks. This is the only reason he wasn't in the hospital when the outbreak started, and likely the only reason he is still alive.
Controller: Angelical Heart Dragon Survivor Name: Polly Berry Age: 18 Gender: Female Class: Hoarder
Appearance: Polly is 5'4" with shoulder length jet black hair that's always tied in a pony tail and brown eyes. Today she chose to wear her favorite jeans,a blue t-shirt and a light jacket with her new tennis shoes. She's also carrying her favorite black backpack.
Personality: Polly gets curious very easily and loves finding out the answer to everything. Polly likes taking care of other people, but doesn't know when to take care of herself. She keeps everything to herself but loves giving other people advice .
Biography: Born and raised in California, Polly has never left the state until now. Just graduated from high school, Polly's parents let her go with her friends on a trip to Washington with her friends. Besides her parents, Polly has one younger brother. Her parents are both doctors and never time to take care of them, so she had to take care of her brother. Polly's taking this time to finally have some of her own time. Polly inherited her parents enthusiasm towards taking care of people, but she swore to herself that she was never going to be a doctor because she did not want to neglect those that she loved.
Controller: Ivaylo_Sai Survivor Name: Father Matthew Malone Age: 27 Gender: Male Class: Priest Appearance: Young but a bit haggard, even before the world went down around him, Father Malone is a very average man. He is of average height, average build, and average weight. His hair is an unexceptional mousy brown and his eyes nearly the same color. His has an average complexion for his ethnicity which was average for where he grew up though perhaps a little pale and freckled for DC. The most outstanding features about Father Malone are likely his clothes (the black garb of a Catholic priest complete with white collar) and the dark circles under his often haunted eyes.
Personality: Devout, reserved, withdrawn, and more than a little overwhelmed, Father Malone was not particularly good at handling the everyday stresses of modern life. The hedonism and empty greed idolized by modern culture ate him up inside as he watched the whole world slip farther from God each year. Now he is strangely at peace with how it all ended and ready to accept his fate as God wills it. . . or that could just be the shock.
Biography: Matty Malone was the seventh of eight children in a Brooklyn Irish Catholic family. He was raised in the Church, attended Catholic schools, and went on to seminary largely because that was the education his family could afford. As a young man Matt entertained quiet dreams of making the world a better place through various means from teaching to politics. It was the latter that took him to DC. Though he knew he wasn't likely to go far in government (for several reasons) he felt a calling to give council to others that could. It turned out a much harder task than he had bargained for and the five years he worked in a DC church exposed him to more evils than he ever thought existed. By the time the apocalypse came Matthew was almost glad of it.
Controller: Bonnie_Blu23 Survivor Name: Emma Age: 25 Gender: F Class: Caretaker Appearance: Emma is of a light complexion, short at about 4'5 and 92 lbs. She commonly has her blonde hair pulled back into a braid and wears blue jeans and t-shirts. Personality: She tends to be very quiet, but also very determined and calculating. She is very warm hearted and attempts to see the good in everybody.
Biography: Before the apocalypse, Emma was a very hard worker. She was in nursing school and can treat minor scrapes and bruises, give stitches, and administer vaccinations as well as splint and set broken bones. She has learned since she was a child that it is much easier to learn and get all the details when she is not talking and possibly blocking out important sounds with a lot of jabber. She was very close to her parents and they supported her in all that she did. She has learned that survival is often in the details, especially when it comes to caretaking.
