So I'm several episodes into Stars and I'm like "What the hell happened to Sailor Moon?!" Don't get me wrong; I'm not hating but seriously, WTF? He's a Sailor Senshi, she's a Sailor Senshi, everyone is a fricking Senshi! And they aren't even wearing sailor-style clothing!
And 'Star Gentle Uterus'? What the heck?! eek

Well, I think it's cause Japan likes to do weird things. They'll do anything there, the weirder, the better. I'm not offending anyone from Japan, at least I'm not trying to.

It's not really the weird factor but more like quanty vs quality. Why is every hero and villian suddenly a Senshi? And again, 'Sailor Iron Mouse'? What kinda fake Senshi name is that? I need to research that because I never heard of any astrological planet/rock/whatever called 'Iron Mouse'.

The anime version of that arc is ridiculous, but as for the Senshi you're more weirded out by, welcome to the world of otherworldly Senshi.
The manga version of that arc is VERY different from what you're seeing now. Usagi is MUCH less of an idiot about Mamoru, for example.

It's a shock, definitely, but its purpose was to open doors of possibilities, broaden horizons. (I do agree that by this point, it is overdone.)
One, Senshi do not always have to be named for their planet to protect it. (Tin Nyanko is told by Artemis and Luna that they all come from the same planet of Mau, which has long ago been destroyed, if I'm remembering correctly.)
Two, the Sailor Anima-mates went by a theme of metal + animal, rather than planetary names, which I *do* think is a strange combination, but at least it gives us something new.
Three, actually if you study the design of all the Sailor Senshi (in the manga, anyway), they all have sailor collars and something akin to a bow at the front, and usually a choker. The only thing that marks any uniform as "sailor" style is the collar, anyway.
Four... The writers of the episodes in that season were perverted, plain and simple. rolleyes I never did finish watching that season. What didn't bore me to sleep disgusted me. Also, that attack screams "sexism" to me. (Writer 1: "Hey, these are GUYS who are actually GIRLS! Now, how do we spread the message of Girl Power? Oh-- I have a great idea, let's name the attack--" Writer 2: "Perfect! Nothing screams 'Girl Power' like a group of hookers putting their opponents in their place by using the power of genetelia!" )
(Rude language warning, and please forgive me for saying it this way, and please don't hold it against me in the future: ) sweatdrop
No, seriously, turn it around. How would people react if Tuxedo Mask had been given powers like that? Just imagine if he fought against his enemies screaming out "Tuxedo Gentle D-ck-Slap!!!"? I do not believe such a thing would have been well-received by the viewers. stare

The metals not so much the animals in the fake senshi's names relate to the metals that are alchemichly represented by the planetary symbols.
The Sun rules Gold The Moon, Silver Mercury, Quicksilver/Mercury Venus, Copper Mars, Iron Jupiter, Tin Saturn, Lead
These bodies are also known as the "Classical Planets" and so have more associations to things like Alchemy and Astronomy. Planets discovered later don't get as much attention in a way.

Okay, I guess I understand it a bit more. I was researching 'Iron Mouse' like crazy and was all "What the hell is an Iron Mouse?". I mean, you have star names like 'Red Dwarf' and such.
As for the Starlites I'm getting a little used to them. And I guess Star Maker's "Gentle Uterus" attack does hold some symbolism (uterus=maker). It's not like they are straight out yelling "Starlite Shiny v****a!" or anything.

Thank you for explaining that for me. I was researching "Iron Mouse" hoping to find something about the stages of a star or something (super giant, red dwarf, iron mouse?).
I think I can begin to accept this season a little more. As for the attack names, I'll just say that I thought Sailor Moon had the most bizarre.

Lol I think the Stat lights attacks are just themed oddly by their name. Sailor Star Maker would have attacks referring to the birth or creation of a solar system, thus "Star Gentle Uterus". Star Fighter would have more offensive attacks and attack names and Star Healer restoring names. In an odd way it follows the basic theme of all the attacks in the show...kinda
Guys can we just agree that Naoko was trying to be cute?

But the debate is so fun! And so are the fan theories. I know I have a few.

Am I the only one who never bothered questioning any of this...? Quite frankly, as anime goes, this is some of the least controversial stuff I've seen or heard.

It's not about controversy, I was mostly asking why so many 'Sailor Senshi' all of a sudden. And what the name 'Iron Mouse' had to do with anything! (Alchemy, I get that now)
I'm cool with the 'Gentle Uterus' and the tranny senshi; really.
