A lanky man can be found lounging on the cot, eyes fastened to the pages of the book held in his calloused hands. Name: D’lek Age: 24 25 turns Gender: Male Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Rank: Wingrider Description: D’lek is a strapping young man standing at 6’2” with a healthy tan from his life in the South and shorter, chestnut brown hair that sticks out every-which way in a manner that indicates that he’s really too absorbed in his current pursuits to care about running a comb through it. He has a mischievous twinkle in his deep-blue eyes and a smile that lights up his face. Personality: D’lek lives life in the now and finds immense joy in living it. His fascination with the unknown is evident in the small gizmos he has lying about, an odd light blinking here, a contraption beeping there and he’s completely disorganized, with bits of this and that littering the new weyr he shares with Tennath. Apparent immediately upon first meeting him is that he has a boyish demeanor- cheerful, enthusiastic, overconfident, and determined to find his place in the workings of the world. However, this demeanor falls away when he is faced with a challenge, becoming calculating and efficient, cold even if he resents the task at hand. He abhors unnecessary violence and hates having to resort to it-doing so is one of his sore spots that evokes said cold demeanor. The situation of the Revolution is one such instance in which he is angered by the amount of injury and death that resulted from this initial phase, however he has also calculated and come to the conclusion that it was necessary and can’t deny that it has opened up several opportunities for himself and Tennath. Coming to this conclusion pushed him into becoming cold to those he knew at Eastern Weyr, he didn’t want to be missed and pushed away those that were remotely close to him. As a weyrbrat he finds it difficult to make lasting, open relationships and has trouble sharing his past with others. He enjoys others’ company well enough, and seeks establishing new friendships, but once those friendships are established he does nothing to maintain them. Quite irksome to others, he easily falls prey to the allure of a new endeavor to notice its straining effect on relationships. He doesn’t consider the impact of what he says or does, which has lead to more than one instance of hurting another’s feelings without notice. He does however, care very deeply for those he does make attachments with; in small groups he feels responsible for the members’ well-being and the success of their current endeavor (he is terrified of coming across a situation he can’t handle), giving the task at hand his undivided attention and effort. This contrasts with how he behaves in large groups, where he tends to remain on the fringes to avoid calling attention to himself, an aspect that he still regrets cost him the opportunity to become a Time Rider. Other: D'lek's VoiceCharacter approval here.

The sand wallow is rather large for a blue, but is clear of overhanging vegetation such that it would provide magnificent view of the Southern starscape. The large blue lounging in the wallow is surveying a chart of the last Threadfall. As you approach he lifts his head to regard you, disinterested he returns his whirling gaze to the map before him. Name: Tennath Age: 9 10 turns Colour: Blue Size: Large ( Quite uncommon) Build: Average ( Very common) Description: The bulk of his hide appears icy blue, with limbs, tail and muzzle a stormy blue-grey, his eyes burning like fire with a thirst for knowledge. Being of a fairly large size, but of average build Tennath appears lanky. Link to appearance. Personality: Tennath is possessed with an innate curiosity in how the world works, he loves the unknown, thirsts for knowledge, and seeks adventure to that end. Although reclusive, he is also easily excited-much like His- and experiences immense joy from learning something new. He is a collector of random tidbits of knowledge, and in the odd occurance of him going out of his way to converse with another it will be to rack their brains for anything new and exciting. Leading many to the first impression that he is haughty and self-important, when in fact he merely lacks social tact. He doesn't care one lick that he and D’lek didn’t fit in at Eastern, and readily consented to leaving those close-minded individuals that never understood them behind. He is utterly unabashed by his unusual behavior and operates under the mindset that if others can’t accept him as he is they have no right to waste his time, which could be much better spent pouring over the charts in his weyr. He remains level-headed and meets crisis head-on, never backing down unless His or his own life is in imminent danger. When faced with a challenge he is fierce and ruthless, and if not held back by D’lek he would probably bear many scars from threadscore by now. Tennath takes this as a mark-or rather the lack thereof- of pride and has grown cocky in his skill at flying. He enjoys the chase when it comes to Flights, and sees it as an opportunity to show off his talents. Threadfall stats:Size Modifier: -1 Build Modifier: 0 Color: Blue, Ability “Intuitive”, HP Base 45, Agility Mod: +1 Hit Points: 45 Damage Reduction: 0 Other: Tennath's Voice I colored a Wibbly-Wobbly Egg for Tennath inspired by this. Tennath was inspired by the quote “He's like fire and ice and rage. He's like the night and the storm in the heart of the sun” due to his gorgeous coloring. Dedicated to my Doctor Who cell phone alarm, that went off right as I was answering the winning tie-breaker question in an awesome trivia showdown for this majestic blue fella’!

A sheaf of papers appears to have become dislodged from one of the many stacks littering the small writing desk, it’s contents strewn upon the floor around it. One leaf has a list of names scrawled upon it, notations accompanying each name. Benden Canoake and Tatath: Acquaintances Euclid Mi'ca and Turoth

The desk and crates alongside the right wall are difficult to distinguish from the books and charts crowding around them, unusual perhaps that a relatively unknown man would have such a large private collection, a map of Southern pinned to the canvas of the tent wall above the desk. Pre-game History: D’lek is the result of a charming bluerider’s short-lived tryst with his Weyr’s Journeywoman Starcrafter. Fostered out, he started exploring the area around Eastern Weyr at a young age, stealing away from the creche whenever he could to have “adventures” and pretend he was out discovering new lands. He was fascinated with even the most mundane things, obsessing over glows and trying to figure out how their light worked. His oddball nature got him into many scuffs with other weyrbrats and he learned that rather than giving his antagonizers endless opportunities to do right by him, it was best to give people one-and only one- warning to make amends and do what was right. His usually cheerful nature fell away whenever he met with these confrontational adversaries, instead becoming cold and calculating in what needed to be done. He matured early and used his newfound height and wiry frame to his advantage, coming out ahead in most fights. He went back to find his mother when he was around twelve turns of age. She was hesitant at first, but formed a tenuous bond with him and he was filled with wanderlust from pouring over her charts and maps. He wanted nothing more than to explore the world and see everything it had to offer, he looked at the stars and wondered what else was out there. It was then that he committed himself to pursuing the life of a dragonrider. As a candidate he threw himself into lessons, wanting to absorb every bit of knowledge surrounding dragons and their history. For three turns he stood on the Sands, anxiously waiting to Impress and filling what little free time he had as a candidate with learning about the Ancients. It was in his fifteenth turn that his dream of becoming a dragonrider came true and he Impressed Tennath, taking the name D’lek. He adored the awkward blue, who was all joints and lanky limbs, and was utterly devoted to his new ward’s health, putting his fascination with the Ancients and their technology aside while they were Weyrlings. However, Tennath had the same thirst for knowledge as His and they spent many candlemarks reading together. This had the unfortunate repercussion that his visits with his mother dwindled, and -eventaully- all together ceased. D’lek could not wait until he and Tennath were ready to fly and learn the technique for going Between, skills he so desperately desired to satisfy his wanderlust. He was disappointed to find that being a rider did not come with the freedom he had imagined, but still he and Tennath used every spare moment to explore what they could of the Southern continent. During these escapades they found the occasional piece of “junk” and cautiously explored the outskirts of Landing, desperately seeking to understand and learn what others rejected. He and Tennath took the opportunity to gather some small bits of technology that hadn’t been as ruined over turns of neglect, among these scraps some treasured plastic-coated wiring and a small, undamaged solar panel the size of his palm. D’lek began to tinker with these spare bits of treasure, making odd contraptions that would whir and blink to no apparent rhyme or reason to anyone save himself. He kept his eccentric dabbling within the confines of his and Tennath’s weyr, but his attitude toward the Ancients and technology alone were enough to raise eyebrows within the Weyr. Nevertheless, it was this quirkiness that inevitably attracted the attention of some of the more adventurous greenriders, and he enjoyed a series of brief, but intense, relationships. His passion and enthusiasm for new experiences, accompanied with his cheerful manner made the early stages of these relationships fun and exciting. They never lasted longer than a half-turn though, the women he entered them with inescapably finding his unwillingness to open up and distant nature frustrating after that initial exciting stage began to dwindle. He could never stay focused on the relationship, instead letting his mind wander to a new project or exciting tidbit of information. This was especially true when the vote came in to recruit a band of Time-riders he enthusiastically signed up, he had been dying to time-it and this gave him the opportunity to do so with the permission of the Weyr. The drawbacks of being an oddball recluse became all too apparent to him when he was denied the opportunity and was not chosen as one of the, in his eyes, lucky riders selected by the Weyrleader- not enough was known of him, his reliability yet untested, and he had accrued no favor on his part. Tensions were rising between Malvern and Benden, and with them the dispute between the New Ways and the Old Ways was erupting across Pern. This all seemed so distant to D’lek, with the assassinations of key Weyrleaders seeming more rumor than fact. Then Thread fell and their lives changed entirely. It was one thing to train for Threadfall and quite another to experience it- he and Tennath had never been so afraid and so exhilarated in their entire lives. D’lek found himself thirsting for the adventure, the danger, and Tennath couldn’t wait to spread his wings and test his skill. They began to think of themselves as protectors of Pern and took great pride in their role in defending the land. They grew cocky in their capabilities and frustrated that their role in Pern’s defense didn’t seem appreciated-it appeared to them that the focus remained on how they didn’t quite fit in, not their contributions. So, when he heard tale of the Revolution he knew this was the chance he had always craved, the opportunity to leave behind his narrow-minded Weyr and find his place in the new Benden Wherhold, where his love of the Ancients would be prized rather than scoffed-at. He and Tennath discretely planned their new life and stole away when the opportunity presented itself. Having newly arrived at Benden with his thirst for knowledge and the trappings of an old life, he is eagerly trying to make his way in this strange new environment and settle in to a new way of life.

Bits of metal and wire fill the crates beneath the cot, you can see a small contraption blinking in a corner, half covered by a worn-in flight jacket. Info about Ancientcraft activity will go here eventually.
