It was unfortunate that the whole of the group was not suited to the skills required for Stealthy operations - the Wherholds had sworn by it thus far. Keller spent the evening of the first day drilling the volunteers and conscripts personally, giving them little sleep as the night rolled into the morning of Day 2.
With dawn, Combat Training began. Individuals were transported to Malvren for their exercises, their trainers forcing them against the edge of the cliff top as they trained to hone their concentration and deaden their fear - in both the humans and the partners. Those dragons available were instructed to practice above, wheeling and cutting regardless of threadscore or injury. Learning to fight through pain and injury was also incredibly important to the people of the Wherhold.
As before, everyone needs to roll 3d100s in a single post. However, if you exceeded 80 on any of the skills from Stealth for the chosen character, you may reroll for 1 skill - whatever the new number is sticks even if it is lower then before. It also stays in the skill set you chose it for, it cannot be moved.
Combat Training For Hand-to-Hand combat, basic techniques like punches, blocks, and movement are taught so that a violent situation does not catch the individual off guard. Those who do well will be shown grabs and grapples.
For Human-to-Creature Combat, knowing how to move and what blindspots there are on Tunnel Snakes, Whers, and Dragons is highly important since the creatures often outpower the humans they are facing and dealing a crushing blow may save a man’s life. Opportunistic attacks are featured here and may be terms dirty fighting by some.
For Group Combat, learning to coordinate attacks and defensive movements with a group and against a group are incredibly important. Learning to work as a team is featured here.

Combat was better, and both he and Magith fought, learning what they could from the instructors. He was best against other humans, but he wasn't too bad with the human to creature combat.
Of course, group fighting, was a whole different story altogether. Maybe it was because he didn't trust them, or maybe he was just having an off day. Fighting in a group was harder than it looked.

S'dekai didn't like combat. He didn't even know why he was here. The only reason he'd showed up to the combat training was because he was still hoping to find out exactly what Keller was planning to do with all his newly-trained stealthy fighters, and he would have no idea what was going on if he didn't show up.
Well, that and he couldn't well think of a good excuse not to go. Laziness and cowardice - neither of which he possessed, but both of which he'd be accused of if he failed to defend the Wherhold - were not tolerated well by the wherhandlers.
He was entirely reluctant to go through the training exercises, and despite his best efforts, it was fairly clear that the young man was only going through the motions.

V'ell, by contrast, leaped into the combat fray with every appearance of cheerful enthusiasm. Hand-to-hand was no problem for a big burly greenrider like her, and she enjoyed the chance to really whale on a few people she disliked under pretenses of just being "sparring partners." It was good practice for the dueling she intended to do in the future, under Keller's watch.
Human-to-creature was likewise right up her alley. Learning how to fight other dragonriders? Sounded good to her. Zarth wasn't a big dragon, nor a particularly tough fighter, and she was reluctant to put the green in harm's way. If V'ell could help disable any dragonkin opponents they might run into, then that was more for the better.
She didn't do so hot in group fighting. V'ell had an unfortunate tendency to let her hot-bloodedness get the best of her, and charged ahead while leaving her teammates behind to mop up in her wake.
