Encounters, Battles, and the End Result
If you're in an area like a field, forest, dungeon, anywhere that monsters spawn, you'll use the random generator to encounter monsters. Just generate a number between 111 and 999 whenever you're looking to do some grinding. In each area, there will be certain monsters you can encounter. The first number is going to determine what monster you come across, so a 1 might be a goblin rookie and a 2 might be a goblin trooper and so on. The second number is how many you are fighting. So if the first number is a 1 and the second is a 3, then I would be fighting three goblin rookies. The third number is going to be for the end result. This number determines how much prize money you'll be rewarded.
(Note): Prize money and experience is increased by a multiplier for boss fights.

Now battles couldn't be simpler, because they don't involve any stats, dice rolling, or number generating. Just roleplay the battle out. If you're training, you'll have control over your character and the enemies. If you're in a boss fight however, the moderator (that's me) will take over the role of the boss. In battles you can attack, block, dodge, use skills, ect. For a better experience, keep some fights short and others drawn out. If you're fighting low level weaklings, they shouldn't take very long, but if you're fighting a tougher opponent or battling another player, the fight should be longer.

Once a battle has been resolved, the moderator will post a result post, showing all gained experience, money, and items. This is where the third number (mentioned above) comes into play. That number, multiplied by the number of enemies is your prize money. Experience is calculated by your current level multiplied by the number of enemies. Obviously these figures are different for boss fights. Also remember that if you're in a party, experience and money will be listed for each member of that party. Participating in a party does not mean that experience and money will be shared, so don't worry about losing out by partnering up. However items earned from battles are not rewarded to each member, so parties will have to decide how to split up the bounty. Also, if you level up after a battle, a notification will be sent to your inbox.

PvP Matches and Tournaments
Want to fight another player? Then send over a pvp notification to his inbox. Players can check their inboxs while in-game and can either accept or decline the challenge. If a challenge is accepted, the hit ban is lifted, allowing the challenger and challenged to face off. What is the hit ban? The hit ban is a program in place that prevents players from doing damage to one another. This is to prevent harassment through player killing. If a challenge is accepted however, this is lifted to allow the two players to fight one another.

Tournaments are scheduled events in the game's Coliseum. In tournaments, players battle each other, earning prize money as they advance through the rounds and winning unique prizes for winning them. Prizes for gaining total victory during a tournament usually comes in the form of special weapons, armor, or accessories. Additionally the victor is proclaimed Emperor (at least until they are defeated). There are only a few rules for joining a tournament. One, you must be at least level five. Two, you must enter as a party of three. Tournaments award no experience for battles however.

Guilds, Shops, and Starting your Own
Guilds are one of the best features in BMO. They allow you to join groups of like-minded players and party together to clear dungeons and grind. Joining a guild is as easy as getting the guild to accept you. The guild master and any guild lieutenants can allow you to join, but getting other members to vouch for you is helpful towards being accepted. Guilds don't offer benefits like improvements or more experience and money, but being in one gives you plenty of people to chat with and people to party with you. Guilds are set up in towns at places called Guild Halls. These locations are located in each town on every level and act as teleports to your guild home. All guild homes begin as small indoor locations for members to hang out, but with enough money, you can purchase upgrades to your guild home. There are five upgrades to purchase and they can be expensive, so its best to have members contribute towards the improvement of the guild home.

Shops are a little bonus that only comes with being in a guild. Shops allow you to sell the items you got on your adventures and no longer need. If you're a member in any guild, you can set up a shop in the marketplace of any town and sell your wares. Additionally you might like to check out shops from other guilds. Just remember that you can only sell five items at a time in your shop.

Interested in guilds, but don't like the available ones? Then you can create your own! There are a few requirements however. One, you must be at least level ten. Two, you must have a party of five or more to become guild members. Three, you need at least five-thousand coins to start the guild.

Joining and Leaving a Party
Parties are a big part of the online experience. Being in a party allows you to take on stronger foes as a group, though you should still be careful. Some creatures are programmed to change strategies when facing parties, so you still have to think on your feet. To start a party, simply use the user interface to start the party and you will be able to send invites in-game to players. To leave a party, use the interface to leave. If the leader of the party (whoever created the party) leaves, the party is disbanded.

In-game Messages and Inboxes
All players can use their user interfaces to send and receive messages. These quick messages can be sent to other players, no matter where they are in the world. What is the user interface? The user interface is a screen that can be toggled open/close in front of your character, which has many uses. It is used to message, track your friends, manage and equip your items, and teleport from town to town or level to level in the world.

Your inbox (not your gaia one) is your personal message box located in your own topic. This is a place solely for this game. You will receive messages from players and the game moderators, event notifications, special news, and more here.
