Wandering the streets of the small town holding Makai Royal Academy in its protective embrace, you happen across a small home snuggled safely in a corner. It's not particularly eye-catching save for the make-shift sign that features a star over the wooden front door. The curtains of the only window facing the street are pulled aside and if you glance inside a neatly arranged living space greets your eye. Several books centered on various subjects regarding magic and its different forms litter the surface of the coffee table while some novel on less hectic subjects is left open on the point its owner has stopped reading it. There seems to be a coffee pot left to be warmed up on a stove, however the proprietor of the home is nowhere to be seen.

"Is there something I can help you with?" the warm voice of someone approaching from behind startles you and you turn to meet a set of friendly blue eyes behind lenses, smiling gently on a pleasant face that conceals no anger. He appears to be in quite an ordeal despite the gentle way he speaks as he is trying to balance several heavy-looking tomes, a bag of groceries and a small, important-looking variety of glass bottles filled with different kinds of powders and liquids. Before you can as much as move a muscle in order to help him or apologize for prying the fine balance is broken and the things he carries fly out of his reach. He jumps for it, falling on the ground and managing to at least secure the fragile bottles as he does. He sighs in relief.

"Sorry about that." he smiles awkwardly pulling himself together while you stare, not really getting how could this just happen, then again people err all the time, it's in their nature. "Would you care for some tea? As... compensation for having to see me so discomposed." he laughs, placing his things down a second after trying to open the door while holding them and failing.

In a Nutshell:

Name: Philemon Menniadis
Age: 19
Field of Expertise: Healing, Paramedics
Posting Color: Tomato Red

Brief History: "Shared pain is lessened; shared joy, increased —thus do we refute entropy."

Philemon was the fourth son of a rather large family, totalling a number of seventeen members -including his twelve siblings, his parents and grandparents from his mother's side- living together under the same roof. He grew up never being alone in a home that was always bustling with activity; there was always something that needed to be done, someone to take care of, some problem to solve or some chore somebody didn't do and had to be passed on instead of trying to figure out who was the one that skipped it. Therefore, the way he was brought up prioritized being open, resilient, honest and required being able to step up and admit one's own mistakes so others wouldn't take the blame for you -or in turn, collectively take the blame for someone in order to have their back-. Being the eighth oldest -somewhere in the middle- forced quite enough responsibility on him and Phil had always been ready and willing to take everything on his shoulders, including chores that weren't his own to do, just so that he could be of assistance.

Living by the countryside he has learned to be in a certain way of life where nothing rushes nor it is rushed; however he finds everything to have 'a time of their own' during the day, neatly structured in a sense that everything fits perfectly and nothing gets neglected.

While growing up he was always protective of his younger siblings, and even more so of his older twin brother who, unlike him, was quick to act and almost never thought his actions through making himself into a constant worry for Phil. Although he always worried excessively Phil wasn't one to let his emotions to surface. On the contrary he simply did his best so that everyone would be happy. After a certain incident during which he was attacked and almost had his heart stolen by a Majin his brother became obsessed with protecting him in turn -as well as taking it all one step further and wanting to wipe all Majin off the face of the earth-, thing that Philemon found irrational and unneeded as well as exceedingly dangerous. To be able to keep an eye on him, as well as hone his own magic skills, Phil left with him for the Makai Academy as soon as he decided to enroll.

Despite almost being the victim of a Majin once he doesn't hate them, choosing to view their hunger for hearts as an instinctual force that drives them and cannot be overthrown rather than an innate desire for evil and wrongdoing. He sees them as creatures that deserve pity from the Witches rather than being hunted down, slaves to their hunger and unable to escape their 'cursed' -as he sees it- fate no matter what they do. If possible, he has vowed to never slay a Majin if he can get away with it, although that doesn't mean that he won't fight back in justified self-defence or protect others from the Majin by bringing harm upon them.

Personality: Philemon is a mellow, quiet guy who believes that sharing and caring come first and foremost. He enjoys making friends and conversing about any sort of matter at all, or simply hanging out and helping anyone who requires his assistance with solving their problems. Because he is always warm, kind and open-hearted he is easy to approach and befriend and its rare to see him turn someone down if they want to make his company. Phil, however open, is not really gullible however, even though he likes to see the good side of people unless they drag it out to ends not even he can overlook.
Other than being rather sociable, Phil is also fiercely determined and dedicated to his cause -a trait he shares with his more rash twin- and loyal, possibly to a fault with an additional sense of justice that is intolerable towards mean-spirited people that seek to hurt or take advantage of the weak and the innocent.

Although an overall good person as well as an attentive, diligent student, Philemon is not without his faults. First of all he is always filtering his thoughts and emotions before allowing the rest of the world to witness them so he won't come off as improper or accidentally hurt some body's feelings. That, when taken to extreme ends, may make him come off as unpassionate, dishonest, or distant and cold. He is also absolute in his mentality which allows little room for steering and changing his mind making him inflexible and blindly single-minded.

He also happens to be an incredible klutz, often hurting himself without even realizing it and in ways that are probably humanly impossible (tripping on nothing, turning and hitting his head on walls he didn't realize were there, managing to cut himself with practically anything and so on so forth)

Random Facts: Philemon's name is of Greek origin (Φιλήμων) its literal meaning is 'our friend'. He has a fraternal twin brother named Theofratus.

Philemon loves tofu but dislikes any other soy product with a passion.

Even though he dislikes heat and loves cold weather (including the rain, snow and hail) he gets easily cold so he's often sick during the winter.

Despite being a klutz -and often hurting himself in the process- he is actually quite adept at housework, be it cleaning, sweeping the floors, washing clothes and dishes or anything at all. It's also the only 'heavy' physical labour he can take without exhausting himself to the point of no return.

Phil also makes an excellent cook, but only when it comes to the simple dishes he has learned how to make. Don't expect to get hungry around him but don't hope for gourmet cuisine just yet. Maybe in ten years from now...

Although not particularly wealthy, Philemon found himself in need of a home to call his own since he didn't particularly feel like containing himself in a world as tiny as a single room. Having spent his life in the countryside, in a large, bustling home full of life this was but something to be expected, in the end. The solution was relatively simple and that was to rent someplace to live and work various odd-jobs to pay it off while staying in the Academy until he decided what to do with his life after graduating. Seeing how the town is rather quiet he has found himself attached to it, so buying the house off and staying there for the future is a prospect that appeals to him as of now; then again he has a family back home as well.

Philemon's house consists of two floors and an attic. Despite you probably depicted a large house seeing how it already counts two storeys in height you are mistaken. Despite being... tall, the house also hardly fits a room or two on each floor, the bottom consisting of the living room and kitchen united as a single space, the second of the bathroom and bedroom with the attic on top. The attic is Phil's favourite part of his home since it houses most of his activities from growing herbs to experimenting with potions. It also holds several bookshelves and everything Phil just can't have laying around the house.

Phil also shares
his home with his Alchemia 'partner', Desmond. As much as Philemon finds him to be adorable and neat to snuggle with on a cold winter night as well as helpful around the house -when the creature feels like it- he just can't deal with his tendency to purposefully disobey orders -and sneakily snatch all the biscuits out of the cookie jar when he's not looking-. Desmond rarely returns to his card -Phil usually sends him back only to 'punish' him for misbehaving. He enjoys scaring Phil's guest by making noise in the attic when everyone else is downstairs or by faking to be a pillow on the couch to lure them to attempt to sit on him.

The home is often seeing guests because Phil is predisposed to invite almost everyone in if they're around, rarely regarding the fact he might know them less than an hour. Visitors may be delighted to know that there is always warm tea and sweets to be served, or maybe even dinner if they stick around long enough. Sadly, seeing how there is only one bedroom Phil cannot provide a bed for another person, but if one were to sleep on the sofa there would certainly be breakfast on the next day.

How would you like your cup of tea?:

The Chain of Fate
"To receive something you must first present something of equal value to it ─ You can only give away what you have."

Structured around Philemon's unconditional predisposition for giving all that he is for the sake of others and protecting everyone by any and all means his magic has received on a form that reflected perfectly what he wanted to do. Although he had expected his magic to be far more pure in content at first, in the end he was content in having been given such a gift.

Main Use of Magic: The Seven Seraphic Seals

Although hardly flexible, Phil's major magic revolves around his skill in using seven seals that share nothing but a common concept.

The Seal of Sacrifice: heal in exchange for the user's health
"-You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give."

Using the First Seal, Phil can heal any injury or even illness on the spot. The drawback of the seal is that healing affects Phil's own health in the process, causing him to become increasingly fatigued and weaker the more he uses it. Going past a certain level will cause him to eventually collapse, as is natural, of exhaustion. Nothing some medicine and rest can't fix afterwards but somewhat inconvenient if it happens amidst a battlefield. Furthermore, the more dire the case he is trying to heal the more energy he consumes, therefore there is a certain quota of how many severe cases he can treat without passing out.

The Seal of Suffering: deal damage to one's self to damage the opponent
"you can only give what you have"

The Second Seal is, perhaps, Phil's most underhanded tactic in fighting and in the same time one of the most straightforward. The mechanics behind it are rather simple as well; those that get trapped in the Seal's border receive the same kind of damage the caster does regardless of who generates it. In other words, if a foe wounds Phil the damage will be mirrored back to them also; therefore, dealing a fatal shot will also kill the offender. Additionally, Phil can also generate the damage by hurting himself on his own. Because of his passive Fifth Seal, he has a slight advantage than his opponents in any case.

The Seal of Sanctity: absorb magic then launch it back at the source
"Giving opens the way for receiving."

The Third Seal is the first of Phil main three warding seals and the only one capable of absorbing magic. As long as Phil can erect the seal in time, it will shield against and absorb any kind of magic only once. Phil can then use the absorbed magic to turn it against its original caster as if it were his own spell. Its strength isn't affected by Phil's own as he can only return exactly what he has absorbed, albeit in whatever timing he wishes to do so. Phil can't shield using the Third Seal again before he has released the stored magic held within. The seal cannot block or ward against physical damage.

The Seal of Scorn: shield and repel magic to source
"There is a quota of how many things one can receive"

The Fourth Seal is second of three barriers and the simplest of Phil's magic in terms of mechanics. When raised, this seal creates a protective dome that shields those caught within it from external damage. Magic that comes in contact with it is repelled although Phil can't direct where it goes. Unlike the Third Seal, the Fourth can additionally shield against physical damage without being able to repel it, of course. The shield will remain in place as long as Phil's magic can sustain it, otherwise it will gradually weaken and dispel once a certain quota of damage is reached.

The Seal of Sheathing: accelerate the body's natural healing process
"Forgiveness is the giving, and so the receiving, of life."

The Fifth Seal marks Phil's passive magic. Unlike all other Seals, the Fifth does not require being cast in order to come into effect. Its power derives entirelly from the Yggdrasil sap Phil consumed in his tea and draws its powers completely from what Phil calls the 'lifeblood of life itself'. It affects Phil's body at all times, causing his body to heal in a remarkable pace if given a small amount of time. While being of little help in a battle, as regeneration is not spontaneous, it allows him to often cheat fatal injuries by accelerating its pace. Doing this, however, has effects similar to the First Seal's, causing the caster to become fatigued and weary. Overclocking the Fifth Seal can have fatal results to the user's health, contradicting itself, as it was never meant to be used in that fashion.

The Seal of Segregation: repel any damage of any amount at the risk of the cost of the user's life force

The Sixth Seal and third and final barrier, can ward against any kind of damage, physical or magical by putting the caster's life on the line. It works just because the caster wills it, more than anything, to work and its success is entirely based on the caster's determination. If their conviction to their cause, what they want to protect so much that they put their life as collateral for, wavers even for an instant the shield's stability will do the same. If stability can't be achieved then the shield might crack -but stand, still- or break under the pressure of the attack they are trying to ward against. In the first case the caster will receive severe damage while in the second the caster might come dangerously close to really dying unless there's someone with the ability to heal him or if the Fifth Seal's effects are able to kick in in time to counter it.

The Seventh Seal: Phil's oversoul... currently it lies dormant.
